You have finally won a GSL championshiop I am ecstatic that I managed to win in the GSL finals after a year of competing in the league. I’m a little sorry to MVPGenius but I want to meet him far into a prestigious tournament again and play against each other in the future. You won the special LG cinema league last June also in the same stadium That tournament was a special event to be held just before the Super Tournament. Winning it was nice but I was a bit disappointed that it didn’t draw much attention. I was happy to hear that the GSL finals would be held at the same place, and for some reason I thought I would win so actually winning makes me all the happier. Early on in the series, Genius seemed to be taking control I wasn’t able to play at the level that I wanted. I tried hard but my hands weren’t moving like I wanted them to and that really affected my gameplay. I kept calming myself down in my head and as a result, the rest of the series went well

When did you anticipate your victory? Just as the series got to 2:2, I became certain I would win. Other than Set 1, Sets 2,3,4 all had good maps for protoss. After losing Set 1, I thought I could very well lose 0:4 but after getting two sets and tying up the score, I knew I was going to win. Was it difficult to get enough practice going to MLG 2012 Winter Arena? I’m not a player who needs a lot of practice. Thinking up builds and strategies in my head is more important and I had time to do that on the plane so it was not a problem. You are third Zerg champion after Fruitdealer and Nestea. How close do you think you are to Nestea? In terms of career, he’s way ahead. In terms of skill level, I will keep learning from Nestea and keep catching up but I’m still quite behind. However, I will practise with the goal of passing Nestea one day. Are you willing to treat Genius and the other teammates with your prize money? Regarding Genius, leaving the prizes aside, I have no intention of ever treating him since he’s never treated me either. However, if he acts like he knows his place now, I’m willing to reconsider. To the team, first place buys a TV and second place buys a gaming console. We will contribute to the new gaming room at our training house.

With this victory, your prize ranking has gone up and if you happen to win the next season of Code S, you’ll break the 100 million Won mark A progamer’s first priority is to make money. So of course I think about the money. Also, I am delighted with the new design of the trophy. I will continue my best to collect the prize money and trophies. Unlike usual, your ceremonies weren’t so flamboyant despite the series being a teamkill Since it’s the finals, we kind of felt awkward ‘ceremonying’ each other. After winning, I collected myself and pulled one off but it wasn’t satisfactory. I don’t think the fans really enjoyed it either. Lastly, a word to the numerous fans who came to see you play So far, my individual league results haven’t been great. It’s the fans who supported me during these hard times that made this victory possible. Zerg is a hard race but I’ll work even harder from now on to show the best possible matches in the future.

Extra questions from PlayXP (there were more but the ones not included were already asked and answered in the Thisisgame interview)
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/q6jTJ.jpg)
Weren’t you short on practice time after attending MLG Arena? Zerg isn’t a race that needs a lot of practice other than studying the maps and I was able to study them on the plane so it was fine. I finished my practice two days after coming back to Korea. At MLG, two Korean Zergs lost to Naniwa. If you were to compare Genius with Naniwa? Naniwa does hardcore pushes that come early. Genius doesn’t do that sort of stuff but his mid-late game play is excellent. What will you do with your 50 million Won prize money?
Until I can buy a house, I’m only ever saving up my winnings. You showcased your girlfriend today. Why did you decide to do this at the finals?
As a man, I thought it would be cool to show off his girlfriend after a victory.

sorry about being late with the interview, there's also one on PlayXP that I'll upload soon
edit1: Could a mod add Season 1 to the title just after GSL?
edit2: and also put 2012 in front of GSL? sorry...
edit3: PlayXP questions up but without ones overlapping with Thisisgame (I promise they're exactly the same so you're not missing anything)

Wow! Thanks for the write-up and congrats to DongRaeGu! Excellent Finals!

Interesting. He is either very humble or considers nestea better than him.
Thanks for the translation.

As a viewer it feels like DRG is stronger than Nestea currently (especially following results), so I wonder if DRG is catching up to the shadow of Nestea's dominance around june last year? Or whether he actually looks at Nestea's play currently and still feels like he's coming short despite the more average results?
I'm pretty sure Nestea and DRG practice together as it is (I believe they practice ZvZ with each other since there are few zergs at that level in Korea), so DRG has probably seen a lot of Nestea that we haven't.

Yeah, bear in mind that when they are playing each other it is a ZvZ, which is easily Nestea's strongest matchup. So there could be a bit of cognitive bias there.

Wow you do not fuck around: thank you for the quick interview!
I'm really happy DRG won it, I really hope to see both him and Genius do well in the future. Especially Genius - it's time for a Protoss to take the championship and I want him to be that Protoss.
Go TeamMVP >!

Wow! Doesn't sound like the Genius, DRG rivalry is all that friendly anymore :S

Too bad words on paper don't convey context very well.

Well nestea says he hardly loses in practise plus DRG can only play zvz with nestea so i suppose thats why.
Excited to see what great things DRG will do in the future :D

Picture of his girlfriend? I'm interested what all the fuzz is about.
