People will just ignore alot more if its by their favorite casters There are a few areas you just shouldn't touch if you're speaking publicly - things like family, or honour - unless you want to create an unpleasant controversy. Casters usually avoid crossing that line, Katu didn't. That's why it is different, not popularity.

I'm not usually the one to say this because I am in front of the computer A LOT. But seriously, some people need to get out and enjoy the sun. This is being blown WAAAAAY outta proportion! I guess the internetez makes some people crazy huh? Myself, I seen the funny side of it. I actually had a laugh and liked the guy casting. BTW, I am a fan of Dragon. People really need to chill. Why are so many people so quick to jump in on a witch hunt? This is pathetic guys... really........ get over it.

When you say something like that as a caster in public, you are deemed to be heavily punished Typically when you sue for defamation you would have to prove you incured some sort of financial damage in order to collect. If anything the opposite has occured, in that dragon has gained attention and the invite to IPL.

This is pathetic guys... really........ get over it. I find it really wrong to think this way, especially when the person that is getting his reputation damaged isn't you. Just because you don't find it a serious issue doesn't mean it isn't one for Dragon. Whether it should be "haha, go out and enjoy and don't make a drama out of this" or "omfg, this is fk'in bullshyt. let's take it to the court!!1!1!", they are none of our decision to make. Just because you are a dragon's fan, doesn't make you can make the decision for him as well. I think the 43 pages have proven it to be more than just a laughing matter to be brushed away. I am here just to tell you guys that this CAN BE a serious issue and it seems that lots of people believe the only wrong that he did was flaming Dragon's play and stream cheating, which was entirely wrong. edit: Woot! 2012 post! Glad this one is a post that actually have some content in it lol

The only thing 43 pages on a TL thread surrounding Drama(R) proves is that the SC2 scene has a bunch of drama queens. Telling people to get over this will ruin their fun of spewing bile around, and give them a reason to spew more bile - at you. Time. They will quiet down or move on to the next juicy drama story like they always do. Silly people with nothing more productive to do. And I am one.

Of course it was dumb, of course he acted immaturely, of course he should be punished, of course he should apologize, of course he should etc. But, some of y'all are some serious drama queens.

GSL didn't ban him from Code A SlayerS picked him up after he was caught stream cheating. When you say something like that as a caster in public, you are deemed to be heavily punished Dragon would have to prove his reputation suffered (or as someone else said, incurred some financial loss), and may even be considered a public figure within this community, carrying additional requirements (actual malice) to collect damages. Proving Katu had actual malice would be much harder. The SC2 landscape has a ton of self-policing, and the SC2 "media" (casters, tournaments) doesn't have the same influence over the specific SC2 community that the traditional media has held over the general public. We also have a lot less money in our system than the general media/public, and since defamation suits are typically long and expensive, there will be fewer instances where going to court would be worth it. Also, Playhem and katu put out what were essentially retractions, which would make sustaining a trial that much harder.

Saying that, Katu is out at Playhem, Playhem have more than apologized, Dragon is going to IPL, seems like this situation is over. And for all the court references, jesus, ok ya'll are the drama queens. The redeeming acts by Playhem more than outweigh the damages done, if anything it gives Dragon more publicity too. The only one who suffers is Katu, frankly I never really knew his name before this, I always thought the Playhem streams were a bit dull, having been used to Tastosis quality casting for the past 2 years.

And no what katu did really is bad enough to warrant this big of a thread and shouldn't just be forgotten after 1 day. He basically attempted to slander and tarnish dragons name with false accusations, stuff that he could actually get sued over. He was "trolling" and even in the video talks about how he doesn't care about what the chat or viewers think of his trolling. The apology he made contradicts with what actually happened in the video and is completely insincere. I for one will make a point of never watching anything that he is involved with again.
