I always watched the GSL for free , but this year i got a yearly pass to support them ! my opinion is that MLG is doing the wrong thing because they should offer free stream at least 360p , them add HQ for paying subscribers and add an year pass with some discount. MLG got 200k+ viewers in providence , that was something to remember , they should try to go to 300k+ viewers not making it PPV and drop to 5 or 25k... More viewers = more possible buyers/supporters , for me thats supporting the scene because it brings new viewers/players/interest ! MLG does the best tourneys with the best casters and i even think its more popular than GSL , at least on USA , so dont be greedy , start slow then expand ! I just hope regular MLG will still be avaible for free on low quality because they were doing the right thing and still are , they tried something new but remember if i have a chicken that gives me 1 egg everyday and i kill it to have a nice meal , the next day there will be no eggs there and i would have to start over

Cause I totally dont mind having a non-HD, full of adds stream. Also they could change some stuff to make it more accesible/viable. 10$ tops for a weekend content seems right, or 5$ for quarterfinals/semifinals/finals only, which is only what most people end up watching.

MLG used their own money and resources to put together a product and set a price point. YOU then get to decide whether you will accept that price point and watch or not and dont watch. If you used a workaround to watch this weekend you have straight up stolen from MLG like you steal from anywhere else and that disgusts me. I'm surprised you are shocked. People steal ANYTHING from the internet, even Starcraft.

They provide (or have provided at least) the same thing for free. It is stealing just because they decide to put a price on it ? Anyway, you would vote for SOPA, don't you ?

But all in all hooked up the laptop to the bigscreen, and was watching in 1080, sometimes on a dual or triple game format with the various display options. Good times

What? How does that have to do what I said? I'm saying there was a product that was set at $20 and people stole it. That doesnt mean I would support SOPA it means I'm against blatant stealing. Stupid argument is stupid.

Yes it is stealing because they put a price on their product and people didn't pay it to receive the product.

There are better ways to earn money than from those e-tickets. Supporting e-sport = watching it, and making more fans. Actually in my opinion, HQ stream, or no advertisements for 5-10$ would be faaaaaaaaaaar better than that one. And trust me, they have so much money for sure not from those few tickets. You don't know how business works do you? The streams last year were HEAVILY subsidized by venture capital. That's probably the only reason why we get free streams. Giving away a product is never a good way to do business. Internet advertisments do NOT bring in enough money to cover the expenses of throwing a tournament, I can almost garauntee that. If e-sports is going to grow and be sustainable (key word here), we will have to pay for it. Yes, paying for a HQ stream with no ads helps, but as is the case with most anything, the cheap asses prevail. Edit: Also, this whole "they provided this for free in the past" sense of entitlement needs to get thrown out the window.

I just though SOPA was designed to help fight this kind of copyright stealing. It would be far more effective that a post on a forum. My bad.

I actually didn't watch so much since it lagged alot (even having it for free), so paying for this would not be worth it, and if I had payed for it, I would have been angry for the lag but also how easy it was to watch for free. I am curious to know if its worth it losing viewers (commerical income, regular TV manage) compared to have some ppl pay and watch it? Will e-sport grow so they can keep its pricepool, but less viewers, or lower pricepool, have it for free and get more viewers? If they players doesn't come to certain events 'cuse price pools ain't that great, the events will eventually die out, and everyone will lose.. It is a complicated matter.. My last words will be: Congratulations to MKP for winning! Go Terran!

My bad. SOPA wasn't all bad. It however stepped over the bounds on many issues which is why it was so vehemently opposed. Just because people didn't want SOPA doesnt mean they're not against stopping internet piracy.
