All of you that paid, and wanted to support e-sport - failed. E-sport won't make more popular, if one will have to pay to watch the stream. There are better ways to earn money than from those e-tickets. Supporting e-sport = watching it, and making more fans.
Actually in my opinion, HQ stream, or no advertisements for 5-10$ would be faaaaaaaaaaar better than that one. And trust me, they have so much money for sure not from those few tickets.

The irony is that i had Asus 1080p for free but I had to pay 20$ to see MLG in 480. Talking about progress.

First of all, you can't blame the people that watched MLG for free, since it's MLG's+twitch's responsibility to make this impossible. It wasn't even a hack or something, it simply worked. I'd also be mad, if i paid 20 bucks, and then i see everyone else watching it for free. But please, this is not the other peoples fault. Blame MLG, blame twitch.
Other than that, many of the injuries were really really harsh. This is not got for the atmosphere in this forums at all. Think about it. You paid 20 bucks, you did something good for esports (hopefully), be proud of it. But if you start harshly injuring others who didn't, you are no good anymore. Not at all.

Oh please. People knew they were watching a PPV product and watched anyway. Blame rests entirely on them.

I hate analogies, but you're basically saying that if I don't make my house impossible to break into (which in itself is impossible), then it's my fault if I get robbed. The subscription guards may have been trivial to bypass, but that's just a question of degree, not right or wrong.

No, he's saying that if you leave all your windows and doors open of your house, then it's your own fault if people just walk in.
That's the 2nd time in a week I've seen someone sig a quote from this GD and I have never witnessed a sig quote happen in my TL history ever before. -Najda

You're a corporate shill, and its you that is killing esports by swallowing an inferior product and paying for it.

OK wtf is that? One person out right curses and doesn't provide any arguments or anything else and gets only a warning! The other one just uses a completely censored word- shill and provides arguments against the cursing one and GETS A BAN!!!!?!!!? Seriously TL moderators what is this?

I paid the $15 and felt that was pretty fair price wise for what I got. Technical issues were fairly minor and most were on twitch's side from what I saw. Stream crash during finals was unfortunate. I almost wonder if there was an attack of some sort given the timing but that's speculation. Quality of the broadcast was top notch on just about every front though the lounge stream was a waste of bandwidth. They could have done a lot more with that but instead sat around with basically a webcam in corner and no content for the whole weekend.

Even though I think $15 was fair I'd say $10 would be a better price point though. Or maybe $12 (believe it or not things don't need to go in increments of $5). The content is pretty dense so there's really no way you're watching every part of the content and few people are willing to give up their whole weekend for a tournament either.

There is no analogy in that. If you want an analogy, say: If you leave your window open (no curtain), you cannot blame someone who looks inside.

This is another analogy: If you read this you are an idiot.

i dont really see why it "should" be free? this shit costs a lot of money to run and advertising revenue doesn't cut it.

Agree with everything except the "entirely".

And regarding the house: if you leave the door open, no insurance will pay in case you get robbed.

Well I turned on the stream and it was playing fine for me. Apparently my settings were already on private.

However, when it told me that it was PPV I didn't have the budget to get it. So I turned it off.

Didn't know that I was exploiting something but I'm glad that I didn't continue to cheat the system.

In my opinion it makes sense that MLG would try and get some revenue going from the stream. After all, thats how GOMtv gets a good chunk of profit from.

If you want something to continue you have to show your support, and you can do that by "investing" your money in MLG.

I could rant about this forever but you guys have probably already said a good amount...

Didn't pay, didn't watch. Not that I couldn't find a restream, but I just wasn't very interested in it. Looking up the results on liquipedia the day after is good enough for me.

Well, it was not really an argument as there was no proof that the product is inferior before the event (not saying that it was, I really enjoyed it but a cheering live audience was definitely missing). But yeah, I agree that trolls should be punished equally.

The poll gives a wrong impression, you certainly did not need any workaround to watch.

I loaded up the site with Firefox and the stream was running in 1080p instantly. I was NOT using privacy mode, any add-ons or whatever. Infact, I wouldn't have used any trick method to gain access to the stream.

It was certainly nice being able to watch games in FPV and be able to hear commentary on top of that. You feel a lot closer to the action compared to gsl. I didnt have time to follow the tournament though, so I only saw like one game of oz vs drg.

I think I would pay for something like that, but certainly not 20 bucks for 3 evenings. For that money you can almost get a whole month of premium football with 10 times the production value and without any lag. Not that I would want to watch football, but 20 bucks is way much for watching a tv show for 3 evenings, no matter how nice it is. If you can't share the fee with friends and you are not some rich dude, this is just not an appropriate sum having to spend on something like this imho.
No matter how hot it gets, sooner or later there's a cool breeze coming in.

The MLG stream let me watch tons of it for free, although most of the time I didn't take advantage because I found the entire thing really boring. It was like a bad homestory cup without any of the things that makes homestory awesome, like the player commentary, seeing everyone having fun, the barcraft going on down below, etc. Instead it was a small handful of people laying around on couches, casters in closets or some shit, talking to other casters, all of whom are completely separated from the players.

It could honestly have been an online tournament for what it all looked like in the end. It was so far below the standards set by MLG championship events that I don't know how anyone got it in their head that this would be worth paying for.

I didn’t pay, but I also did not try to circumvent the pay wall, it just never asked me. You cannot expect me at that point to go ahead and pay for something that was being broadcasted at me for free. Had I paid for it, I would feel bitter as hell as half of the audience was watching it for free with no effort.

Didnt pay for it and I didnt knew there were restreams/ways to watch without paying for it. Not really into SC2 so I didnt tried to make it work like I havent tried to fix my GOM player for almost a year.

If im bored and got nothing else to do then I might watch SC2 if there is a twitch stream to click .

I wasn't going to watch mlg but for some reason i could watch the streams for free and i just have a standart chrome installation so i ended up watching some games. Despite the good production i still wont pay for it in the future because i am not going to close myself at home the hole weekend to make my investment worthwhile also not a single person i know watches starcraft so i can't even invite some friends around.
