You're a corporate shill, and its you that is killing esports by swallowing an inferior product and paying for it. If by inferior product you are referring to the tournament that set the bar for production, then yes. Minus a few minor glitches lasting no more than 10 minutes over 80 hours of content, MLG > GSL > DreamHack > IPL > NASL.
The games were fine, the stream was, again, an embarrassment. Doubly so considering this was their first attempt to fully monetize an event.
To restate my position, I watched a restream because of a combination of self-interest (I'm a poor student, with a fixed income and no $ to spare) and because I oppose the agenda of MLG which, just like in every other sport, is to get a chokehold on distribution/licensing to the point where they control the sport entirely. Apart from a select few, players can't even make a reliable professional income, yet our priority is monetizing events so MLG can pay dividends to their investors,,,,

I used the incognito-mode workaround in Chrome to watch at the MLG site, plus had a polish/russian restream opened in another tab for backup.

Should add an 'other' option. I wasn't able to catch too much of the tournament due to the time zone difference, but for what I did watch - ~6 hours yesterday and ~3 today - I just went to www.twitch.tv/mlg_arena and watched for free, no adblock, noscript or private/incognito mode needed. The paywall only appeared three times, and twice I just had to reload to get around it. The third time happened after I'd watched 3 hours today, and seemed to actually work, but by then I wasn't too interested in seeing the rest so I stopped watching entirely.

I payed the $15 to give MLG the benefit of the doubt. Obviously I enjoyed the high level of play and insane games, but there were some minor difficulties that would sway me to not pay again. I live in the western US, and I had lag issues here and there all through the tournament. Nothing deal breaking, more of an annoyance. (Besides the finals stream dropping)
I feel it was an amazing tourney but in the future I would not pay more than $10, $5 being a Gold member. Also the fact that A LOT of people were able to view this for free greatly irritates me, both because they are worthless human beings, as well as MLG/Twitch not being able to stop them.

I didn't have time at all this weekend to watch, and I honestly forgot that it was PPV. So you can imagine my joy and surprise when I clicked on the link to watch the games and, not only did MKP vs HuK literally just start, but also it was free. Feel a bit bad now, since I know it was a problem on their end... but I still don't think that 20 bucks is a justified price.
+ Show Spoiler + EDIT: I think what they could have done is made it free in 240p and maybe run ads all the time besides games, and if you payed you got HD and ad-free. Just a thought.

im shocked that so many people paid for it
OGN, MBC, ESL, WCG and lots of other organizations could work perfectly for over a decade without getting a single cent from their viewers.
why exactly does MLG need $20 for 3 days of 2nd class esports (i consider only GSL as first class) to hold a tournament with low prizemoney? i dont get it
btw i watched like 5 minutes (waiting for a game) on twitch.tv

I still don't understand how so many people are having a massive bitch session over $20. Grow the fuck up and get over it...
I paid and watched it even though I missed a large portion due to going to an 18th and missing a lot due to Australian Timezone, I will pay and I will watch again it was a great event and to all those crying about $20 get a fucking life!

Didn't buy, but I would've bought if there were "day" passes at discounted prices. I was busy all day yesterday, and I was still mulling over buying or not on Friday. So ultimately, I would've paid $20 for only today, which I guess psychologically I won't feel like I'll get full worth.
But if I'm free on the whole weekend next time, I would pay the full $20 (granted it's really pay per view, and no workaround is possible).
good job MLG, i was skeptical at first, but you won me over (for next time).

I watched Assembly and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Even thought there were lag complaints,I still believe if they lower the price a little it would be much better。。 I would pay too。

10k prize pool for 1st and people actually paid for this?

Therefore, I didn't watch it regardless of whether or not I could have worked around and scammed. I chose not to, because I choose not to support the "buy Sundance a yacht" charity. E-sports isn't free. You think sundance is rolling around on a big pile of money after these events? You have to be kidding. Even major mainstream sports took decades in the spotlight to make the massive amounts of money they are known for today. All MLG is trying to do is make itself self-sufficient rather then relying 100% on sponsors for prizemoney knowing full-well that those sponsors sometimes take up to a year to pay up, leaving players who already live off much less then fast-food employees in the lurch. If e-sports is too grow it has to become able to pay out prizes on the day. And MLG is trying to put itself in a position to do that. Anyone accusing Sundance or MLG of greed are damn ignorant.
It was free for me. I wouldn't care as much if Sundance was rolling around on a pile of money, instead whatever profit they might make will go to investors who could give a shit less about Sc or esports and, in part, I didn't pay because I don't think their interests should have the highest priority in the community.
You can argue that not putting investors first retards growth, and you're probably right. But the kind of growth that other sports enjoyed when they monetized came at a price. Large pools of money control most major sports and ream fans, who are forced to pay out the ass to enjoy their hobby. Take a look at UFC,,,

i watched a restream, for ESPORT!

Some people don't care about prize pools lol.

Friday watched it during a barcraft
Saturday, I couldn't find a viewable stream
Sunday, The stream just worked for a few hours, then it said I had to be a subscriber. Then I watched a private re-streaming of it for the finals.

Most of the viewers are poor college students, $20 is a lot of money when you barely make any.

I watched on majorleaguegaming.com/live with the 'cookie/privacy mode' work-around. Would have gladly pay if it was $15 or less.

Same. Some of you people make me pretty upset as someone who paid 20$ and was satisfied.
Also, you people who used a restream or the workaround are lying if you say that you would have payed if it was cheaper, you likely never would have paid no matter the money.

I watched the final day at a BarCraft, but I would not have paid for it otherwise. The Assembly guys did a real good job, enjoyed that one even more.
