What am I missing? From the sound of it it seems like MLG screwed up on the communication with GOM prior to the event and did what's required and expected to rectify their mistake. Good on ya, here's a pat on the head?

(unless the players were promised a later play day by GOM which would be an incredible dick move, but nothing in the OP indicates such a thing)

How did MLG screw up? The players themselves didn't even know until it was too late. Sounds more like GSL not supporting/taking into account that players have other tournaments than the GSL.

Anyway, good job by MLG. They sent the message to players that they'll support them in any way necessary to make their participation at MLG easy and risk free.

How so? The players are missing just the post-celebration party. Generally with plane tickets, you're able to change the flights without an issue for most airlines.

This, and I would believe that MLG goes about it in some way to obtain flight points as a business, especially since they are now flying players in to compete.

Now that I look back at the results, this starts to make sense.
TheStC and MVP both dropping "Round 2" and "Round 3", then Leenock follows the lead and drop "Round 3" and "Round 4".

FYI, you cannot move flights a day early.

We had to book 4 new flights. Problem solved. Players made it home and will get to play in GSL, so everyone wins. It is just a shame that the players experienced such high stress over the situation.

And you cant move them for free. You have to pay whatever the difference in cost is of the new ticket and sometime an extra $100

oh? Well you know, the players could have told the GSL to go to hell. Oh wait it's way higher on their priorities than MLG is. This only ensured that the players will actually turn up for MLG, which they'd already charged people for.

They did what they had to, not hating or anything.

MLG could have got out of it scott free, the palyers were already AT MLG its not like they had the option of returning to Korea early without there help, if anyone dropped the ball here its GOM

I think that players or whoever sent them to MLG took the risk by sending them to MLG before the GSL schedule was announcent.
I don't know how the information is passed between MLG and GSL.

Did GSL really announce the groups last minute? I thought someone few pages ago mentioned he knew these players Code A match days 2 weeks ago.... so how could players/management/booking people miss it?

Dang what a bro move by mlg. I guess the whole MLG/GSL partnership with spots in code s etc. helped mlg to do this for the players because that is really awesome.

This is actually amazing from MLG. People don't realize how much a plane ticket costs from NYC to Seoul on days notice.

To put it into perspective I just checked with a 2 day notice (March 1st), I could find a $640.00 ticket (this is before booking fees so this could easily go up to $700. And this is the LONGEST CHEAPEST flight plan.

640x4 (and i'm guessing they actually spent more) - great effort and accomodation by MLG.

lol as if they are supposed to work a schedule around GSL? GSL runs soo many days out of the year, you can't possibly expect them to X every single possible GSL day off their calendars.

....he means Assembly

They are on at different times...I don't see what the problem is there.......(more ellipses....)...

Edit: So I'm wrong, there is overlap! However, Assembly started at 4 (or 3..can't remember) am for me, and MLG starts at 2 pm..I am not including the warm up stuff they do. So, not much overlap at all really. Maybe a couple hours if Assembly runs late

MLG is held in US and Assembly in Europe, on the same weekend, so players had to choose which one to attend. To be clear, I don't know who scheduled their event first or why there was an overlap between the two, but I don't think either of them would've done it to screw the other. They all probably had good reasons to do so, although people wearing tinfoil hat might disagree with me.

I'm surprised GSL wouldn't reschedule the code A games because they have moved them around for players in the past for MLG and other tourneys. It makes me wonder if the GSL/MLG partnership has soured since the naniwa incident as this was the first MLG since then and now you see GSL being uncooperative here with MLG. Makes a person go hmmmmm.

I could see some angry meetings behind closed doors after GSL said naniwa's code S seed was only for consideration and not guaranteed, then MLG comes out and says they thought otherwise and GSL got a lot of hate. They might be mad MLG didn't back them up there.

Auctally it isn't GOM's or MLG's fault. Its not MLG's nor GOM's job to take into account each and every person's whereabouts. GOM doesn't follow every single major tournament, as they have enough of a job trying to make sure everything is taken care of in the GSL, they don't have time to check on the dates for MLG.

The times when they play is auctally known the day the players play their previous match. Its been that way since the beginning of the season, every day is planned out in advance, the players should have known the dates in which they could play were the tuesday, or thursday.

It should have been the players who told gom to make sure they didn't have anything booked on the days when they would be out of the country. Since they didn't know, it was more of less the players fault for not checking the GSL calender, or else they would know they could play on those 2 dates, one of which would mean they would be playing on the date they would be arriving home, which isn't right at all.

so don't blame MLG or GOM for this really. this was clear non-communication by the players, and they really didn't have enough clear foresight to check their dates when they would be playing their matches beforehand.

Are people even reading this paragraph?

The players were not informed of their schedules for Code A until they landed in New York.

Good job to MLG for helping to fix the problem.
