Awww yeah! Nerchio vs Nestea & Leenock, Stephano vs Jjakji & MMA! Thorzain vs MC & MVP!

Only the first group is a bit boring to me, but that's probably blasphemy because it has BoxeR.

Can't wait for the first games!

I think group C will definitely have the most entertaining matches of all, so stoked to see MaNa's PvT matched up against MMA and Jjakji, aswell as seeing Stephano's ZvT versus the same :O

There's already four more Koreans than Foreigners!

If the top two get out of every group (to give eight people for a bracket)

I can see there being no foreigners, MAYBE, MAYBE ONE. Shocked if more.

Pool B would be group of death and destruction if it had Alive or Nestea. Idra brings the quality down. Everyone else is going to win atleast one set I guess.

Yes, I'd have loved to see him in there, too, but to be honest, looking at the still incredibly amazing lineup, this one time I don't really care at all because the games are going to be really fun regardless.

In comparison, Pool A, the only pool without a GSL champion, B and C even both have two.

But it's still stacked, just not as much.

Just to give everyone an idea of how stacked these groups are:

Group A combined: $276,000 prize money
Group B combined: $578,000 prize money
Group C combined: $308,000 prize money
Group D combined: $380,000 prize money

Alltogether: $1,542,000 between these 20 players. Interestingly (or not), the order of prize money is the same way I'd order the toughness of these groups with B>D>C>A

group B isn't the toughest because there's a HUGE gap between the 2nd annd the 3rd, Thorzain, Idra and Symbol are here for figuration.
Stephano in group C and Nerchio in D are more likely to do something.

Group C and D are closer, i'd class like that: D>C>B>A

It isn't. The top 4 players are flown to France, where the remainder of the matches are played LAN.

Stacked ass groups. My preds:
A. MKP and BoxeR. Maybe Ret. I would say PuMa but providing ToD is the only Protoss in that group for PuMa to 1/1/1, I don't think PuMa can make it out.

B. Mvp and MC. I could see Thorzain make it out though, but the Grack hasn't had much success as of late.

C. MMA and jjakji. Although Stephano can pull upsets and if he does, I'm not surprised since its fucking Stephano ffs.

D. aLive and NesTea. aLive has been causing a storm lately and NesTea is still God of Zerg. Leenock could trump NesTea or aLive, but I don't see that happening.
If I tell you the truth you'll vie for a lie. If I spilt my guts, it would make a mess we can't clean up. Say you'll never leave me 'cause I need you so much. I can't live with myself so stay with me tonight.

So happy to see the broadcasts ONLY two days a week. Plenty of time to hype up those matches/fix scheduling conflicts. Hopefully I won't have to dedicate an ENTIRE Sunday to watch this event. No more than 2-4 Bo3s per night in addition to any other content you might be able to provide is Lets see this thing grow!

Definitely a stacked group. Only problem I really see is whether lag will be a factor. Especially for match ups like ZvZ and PvP where a small bit of lag at the wrong times could be critical. Hopefully the internet plays nice and there are any game altering lag spikes.

I think Koreans can prepare a charter to Paris for all the players (and their coaches) who will qualify for the offline event It would be expected if top 8 is korean only, and a miracle if more than one foreigner manage to reach it.

What likely happened is the mods missed it and the organizers did not request for it to be community news'd. I see no reason it would not be.

Startale signing MisS (?!) is newsworthy enough to warrant a news-post, but the announcement of the groups and schedule for the best/strongest online-tournament so far in SC2 (with LAN-finals) is not. I really hope this isn't overlooked because it's competition for TSL4.

Damn, seems like some pretty top-end production with that trailer and all, are the people hosting the event generally well known? They must be investing alot of money into this event - looks like its paying off as well. GL guys!

So its online until the semi's right, which is played live in France?

lol @ Idra's group- lots and lots of rage will be had. Incredibly strong groups altogether. Even a single foreigner in Ro4 will be a great success. Judging by the trailer the production will be sick too. Can't wait!

The two guys behind it are the most known casters in France since the beta, they have a team behind them to put out content, contacts with the biggest french teams and already casted some lans sponsored by french companies. Plus they put up their own channel for content, and already organized some lans in the past. Also some of the guys who work with them are known from warcraft3/wow for their production skills.

So yeah it's legit, expect some great production

Here is "the making of" of their last event in Paris, Ogaming. It was an event "just for fun" with no prize pool, and the 500 places were sold in like 2 days I trust them to prepare the better event for us !

The french scene is surprisingly amazing. Lots of lans and tournaments, even if it doesn't get much attention in our english-speaking forum. It's strange to see cool in combination with SC2, when we're used to seeing semi-awkward interviews in ill-fitting clothes.

I was at Ogaming 2, and it was awesome ! It was really interesting winessing pro gamers playing casual games without much at stake. I will never forget that 2v2 game on Georgeopolis (slightly mod Metalopolis map where random nukes are thrown without warning and at increasing frequence) where Thorzain's entire siege line got wiped out within 5 seconds ! ^^

I have faith in the people involved in this tournament, and the production team is quite experienced so they should be no problem. Also, 2500 people attending it should be huge !

Somewhat unrelated, but since we're talking about good (french) production, the promo-videos for the players playing tomorrow at the LDLC Winter Trophy are pretty great and deserves to be seen by a wider audience. Nice editing and use of the ingame cameras makes for a pretty intense presentation.

Group A seems like an easy group in this tournament... and that's saying a lot, considering who is in that group.

Mana and Stephano in the same group (Assembly too), sad Stephano is the only realistic hope for a foreigner in top 8. Although with the event being online and all, it's not impossible that Nerchio and Thorzain make it through as well.

ToD only made it into this tournament due to French preference (it's not unacceptable that one of 20 players was selected on that basis, mind you), but I actually think he could take some games in his group. The other four foreigners will all be 0-6 against Koreans.

I wish there had been an Ukrainian or Russian player in there as well, but as someone said, you can't have it all.

PS : why MLG Arena and Assembly get multiple headlines on TL while this event gets none is beyond me.

Okay, first of all i want to say i registered on TL to post this.

I'm a little confused about the no-hype-at-all feeling regarding this tournament.
Seriously guys, this is the biggest line up in a tournament we've seen in...well since pretty much Stracraft 2 was released.
What do you want more, Top Korean players, Top EU players, it's truth there is only Idra for NA, but keep in mind several players(like Huk) declined the invitation.
In addition, the production is excellent, you have a dedicated website, a facebook page, a trailer on Youtube(see Totalbiscuit or Pomf et Thud channel) a big cash prize and an experienced team behind all the work, you of course have an English stream available.

What are you waiting to spread the word?
Go to twitter/facebook/whatever social network and spread the damn word across the damn galaxy.

And for godsake TeamLiquid, make an article(with the excellent redaction quality you are famous for) about it.(if it's on the way, i appologie).
I beg you, this could be a major step for Esport, we all have responsabilities to take.

So tommorow at work, or at school, i want all SC2 fans around the world to scream "HAIL TO THE SQUID!!" or something like that, is that clear?

And if you are a badass fan, go to your fishmonger, buy actual damn squids and throw them at random people in the street.
And when they'll ask you "Why the f*** do you do that?", you'll answer "Because i love IRON SQUID,and because this is the better SC2 tournament ever created, and because even all the damn fauna of the oceans is going to watch it!!".

Up to you guys.

Hail to the squid.

The off line event will be on one evening, 3Bo5 and one Bo7 means quite a lot of games already, it will be a show not a regular lan event.

Thanks for the link, quite interesting. Because its a bit of an unknown tournament, I found the following part of the interview interesting:

"Fred Gau: The first thing I want to say is that our cash prize is secured, we already have it, and we wouldn’t start this tournament without it. For the second part of the question, we’re still in negotiations because getting the tournament running was far more important than our sponsors. I can't say much about it, but that it will be announced soon. Do not worry about it, we have our own budget for this tournament and it is quite enough to deal with everything."

So why isn't this in the Community News and Headlines section yet? This tournament is on par with IEM / Assembly and their group announcement threads are placed there for more exposure. Doesn't seem very fair to me for a $25k prize pool + sick players tournament.

Maybe they will put it in the Community news when the actual finals take place? I cannot think about another reason.

At least Stephano forfeiting ONOG was worth being put in Community News. Much more interesting than a huge tournament coming up. T.T

Edit: LOL, Lone Star Clash got featured already as well. Two of sixteen players announced, half the prize pool of this one. I don't know what's missing here.

This is one of the best tournaments ever and it is getting lost kinda unnoticed.
Maybe it is because it is hard to find any information on this tournament.

I'm sure this will be an interesting tournament. Really stacked, too.

Here is "the making of" of their last event in Paris, Ogaming. It was an event "just for fun" with no prize pool, and the 500 places were sold in like 2 days I trust them to prepare the better event for us !

Imo C>D>B>A but especially C, D and B groups are close and insane !
Predictions
A : Foxer, Boxer
B : MVP, MC
C : MMA, Stephano (Jjakji/Stephano have quite the same level but I give my preference to Stephano)
D : Nestea, Alive (considering there are 3 zergs and Nestea's ZvZ should be slightly better than Leenock's)

Anyway all the groups look so good I just can't wait to see the matches !

Whats been annoying about this event since I heard of it has been the lack of information. I appreciate all the style but it would really be helpful(advertisement wise) if the opening post in this thread and the other gave specific details on dates, times, and format. I shouldn't have to watch a teaser.

This is gonna be insane!
Looking forward to see if any foreigners can advance here! I think Stephano and Ret are our best hopes =)

I have to agree with other posters, you really should update the OP with relevant details. It's not smart to have people asking for when the tournament starts in the comments. If you're unsure of the formatting, take a look at the lone star clash tournament, they did a great job setting everything up. Other then that, what a blast this is gonna be. Just really impressive.

This is the most stacked tourney since the beginning of SC2 time. Wow. I don't see any non-koreans getting out of the groups either... Not only are there more koreans than foreigners but it's also pretty much Korea's current elite. Sick!!

I wonder what % of total sc2 prize money since release that is, that's a crazy stat.

More than 50%.

I very much doubt Stephano beats Jikaji. Jikaji is pretty damn good.

Jjaki is pretty damn good, he just doesn't seem to perform at the moment and Stephano is owning everybody in Europe. Considering the groups are played online and that Stephano will probably have the better latency I think he has really good chances.

12 Koreans, 8 foreigners? Really?
I knew Koreans outplayed foreigners, didn't know they outnumber them as well.

Thanks for volunteering as a tournament I don't need to follow. The amount of tournaments last year really brought me to a level of oversaturation.

Not sure EU players have better latency on NA than KR players :/

Goody beat Nestea. Case closed. :D

But seriously, it depends a lot. West coast should be similar in latency for EU and KR, but East coast should be better for EU.

How is that?

Symbol's pretty unknown, IdrA has been underperforming for quite a while. The only real contenders I see are MC, Mvp and Thorzain. Thorzain could probably pull off a win against MC (even though MC's PvT is pretty good), I don't think he can pull a TvT win against Mvp.

Looking at the level of play and past achievements, MC and Mvp stand high above the rest of the group.

Imho group D looks far more interesting.

With Leenock, NesTea and Alive you have a fairly well-balanced and really strong Korean group along with 2 foreigners that usually do well in the underdog position.

I disagree, the longer you build the hype the better your event will do. People will be looking forward to this. Plus the broadcasts of the group stages does not start in may, may is the offline finals.

Well, I don't know if you realize how huge this tournament is and that it is a necessity to have it so spread up until may.

First, the tournament starts in 9 days and not in 4 months.
There are 44 BO3 in the stage groups and RO8 to be played and streamed by not only american, but also french and maybe german casters. Because of all the great players there are, it is a chance for us to be able to watch these games one at a time and not just play them all randomly and see how it goes.

And I think it is ok to just play the finals and semi in lan. As kaoru said, it is gonna be a long show and the scene is available only for a day. Then, let's not forget and be realistic, probably only koreans will get to the finals and if I were one of them I'd be disapointed to travel over to France and not have a guaranteed prize money even if the trip is paid also.

At the Beginning we had 14 Invites with 8 Foreigners and 6 Koreans. After Qualifiers 2 Koreans went in the Main Tournament plus we added 4 other Koreans (MVP, Nestea, MMA and BoxeR).

That means now we have :

Foreigners 8
Korean : 12 (6+2+4)

At the 1st beginning this tournament had more Foreigners than Korean.

Seems like it was originally going to be a 50/50 split but then they had the chance to add Boxer, Mvp, MMA and NesTea, so they took it. I'm ok with that decision.

I think it's pretty safe to assume top 3 will be koreans, unless a certain french player won't ruin their plans to conquer the world. Nevertheless, we will be seeing some awesome games.

Group A looks the weakest, but I don't see a real "group of death." The super stars are all spread out. Looks exciting :D

I don't like the re-broadcast time 8PM PST and 9PM CET means either 11pm or 3pm EST : (

ret and nerchio have nice groups (no zvz for ret and a lot for nerchio)

Stephano could potentially advance

it'll probably be

MKP, Ret
MVP, MC
MMA, Jjakji (BUT HOPEFULLY STEPHANO)
Alive, Nerchio (or nestea)
There is always tomorrow nshs.seal.

I wish now that they've got groups of 5 they'd put in a blizzard cup style format where first place in each group goes to the quarter finals and 2nd place plays off against 3rd from another group for the other quarter final places. Would probably lead to more meaningful matches in the group stage, and more awesome knock out games.

Group A
The hardest to predict I think, MKP for sure but the 2nd place is up in the air. I'd say Boxer is the favourite for 2nd, but Ret can beat Boxer or Puma and Tod is a wildcard considering he's been in Korea for quite a while and he did beat Ryung, who is probably better than Puma and Boxer, in the MLG qualifiers twice.

Group B
MMA and Jjakji

Group C
MVP and MC

Group D
aLive and Nestea (just because I think the matchups favour Nestea over Leenock).

Sadly I don't think any foreigners will make it to the Ro8. Stephano, Idra and Ret are probably the best players at the event, but Stephano has Jjakji and MMA in his group, who are probably top 3 TvZ in the world atm, Idra has MC and MMA, who I can't see him beating after his GSL matches. Ret has the best chance with 3 ZvT's against the 2 of the weakest Terrans in the tournament.

I can see ThorZaIN upsetting MC or MVP, but I don't think he's even the favourite against Idra or Symbol. Obviously I hope he wins the tournament though.

9pm CET is 3 pm EST (if I am not mistaken) for my fellow NA SC2 fans. Not great for work, but definitely still manageable on the Saturday broadcasts.

It's not. But I have "long weekend" spanning from the previous weekend to the Squid weekend and I'm considering a trip somewhere abroad at the time. Might as well jump to Paris for one day.

The last O'gaming event went for 12 euros (and I believe you had a free beer), i'd bet for 15-20 euros.
Make sure you get tickets on time if you do, last time all the tickets were bought within two days. And the website who sold the tickets crashed (lulz)

I don't know however if TB and Apollo will be casting in English at the finals, i don't see how they can come up with a way to cast games in French/English on the same scene live.

So be sure you want to endure the French stream:p
But you'll have a big quality screen anyway, and even if you d'ont understand commentaries(unless you understand French of course) it's stillworth it for the show IMO.

The fun will be to attend as I never really attended any event live (somehow skipped euro battle.net invitational that was 10minutes walk from my home). But I admit - if there will only top 4 it's a bit less appealing (no Emperor, for example, as I don't really believe he will make it).

MC vs MVP will be the really interesting matchup, IMO.

in terms of player quality, this is looking like best tournament outside of korea so far!

predictions:
mkp, puma - mkp should cruise this group since its online, puma slumping lately but still a class above the others
mma, jjakji - 2 most recent gsl winners easy favourites, stephano is probably the best forgein player but against these 2 koreans in their best matchup? dont think so..
mc, mvp - easiest group to predict, idra and symbol outclassed here, although i could see thorzain coming through in an upset
leenock, alive - group of death imo. alive is the latest korean terran to be tearing sht up recently, gsl SF, winning stacked IPL online qualifier beating drg, leenock hasnt had the best results this year, although imo still is the slight favourite over nestea. nerchio dark horse of this group

damnnnnn this tourney soo stacked, cant wait

NEEDS MORE HYPE

Yes, HD/SD stream is free, VODs are probably going to be on YouTube, presumably on the IronSquid channel itself or maybe on TB's channel for more people to see.

I was initially going to yell at you (because I confused group B with group C), but instead I'm going to agree with you. A & B are very strong but groups C & D are ridiculous. Group A is probably the weakest, with MKP being a little inconsistent (although I generally think he's brilliant) and Boxer and Puma both being capable of losing to a foreigner of Ret's caliber.

A question to anyone -- Are only two players advancing from each group? If so that's kind of a shame. With groups this strong, I would have preferred a blizzard cup format with three advancing from each group. In this format, it's going to be really tough for any foreigners to advance. Ret may actually have the best chance because his zvt is strong and his group is comparatively "weak" (with "weak" being used extremely loosely here).
To be is to be the value of a bound variable.

One of the greatest lineups I've seen lately for a tournament. Hardly anything to be desired, but I'd wish also there to be added Huk, Naniwa, Dimaga, Oz.

This looks like a fantastic tournament, less days of viewing, but all games have enormous potential to be fantastic, so I LOVE IT! Can't wait for this to begin!

This is why you should put the prizepool (25k$) in the title imo. Some people won't even open the trade if they think it's a random 500$ tourney.

Because once you've opened the thread and seen the lineup, you have no choice but to watch it!

Yes but I agree with Black17: having the prizepool amount appearing in the title under the Community news will probably make more people checking it and clicking on it.

The original thread should have been under the community news and everyone would have remembered because who would forget such a wonderful name ?

Maybe this tournament should be in the "big event coverage" as well.

It obviously should be in the BIG event tracker. I imagine it's an oversight, TL wouldn't purposely be ignoring a competitor for TSL4. TL is the community-portal for the whole scene, and they act like it, so it should be added shortly. Though the original announcement of the 25.000$ tournament weirdly wasn't featured, that was probably a mistake also, and the group-release got the spotlight after just 3 days of people calling for it. They're probably just busy.

Yep, it's actually a competitor to the TSL, same kind of format. Awesome invites, first rounds online, but finals round offline. I think that's why it took so much time to be in the featured news, and why it's not in the big event tracker

There have been a lot of tournaments recently, and it does take some work for a tournament to stand out from the crowd. People probably overlooked this one, until they realized how big the prize pool was and how stacked the lineups were. But what really got people's attention was the inclusion of MVP, Nestea, MMA and Boxer, all very big names, in addition to the already invited top tier players like Leenock and MC.

Excited that this is an ongoing event, its like having a "regularly scheduled program" to look forward to - the qualifiers were extremely well organized and I'm looking forward to fantastic play being the center of focus instead of fumbling "production" :D

When a tournament like this can be overlooked you know there is something wrong.

I also skipped the threads a couple of times thinkings it's something small and unimportant, but boy I was wrong.

This is going to be amazing, can't wait!
Futile predictions:
MKP > Ret > Puma > Boxer > ToD
MVP > MC > ThorZaIN > Symbol > Idra (sorry grackmeister, I hope you surprise me!)
MMA > Jjaki > Stephano > Mana > Life
Leenock >Alive > NesTea > HasuObs > Nerchio

...Although anything beyond top 2 should be taken with a sack of salt to go with the bag o' salt for the top 2, and really Puma should perhaps be over Ret, but I want to believe, damn it! No one would be happier than I if the foreigners bossed, but I do kind of doubt it. It's going to be fun to watch, anyway

I saw ToD play today in Mille Cup, I don't like saying that but he's gonna get destroyed. I see:

MKP > Puma > Ret > Boxer > ToD
MVP > MC > Symbol > ThorZaIN > IdrA
MMA > Stephano > Jjaki > Life > Mana
Alive > NesTea > Leenock > Nerchio > HasuObs

I admit that for group 2 my prediction is a bit streched, but I'd really like a foreigner to advance here.

What's funny though is that the stream being at 9pm CET, koreans will be playing each other starting at 5 AM XD
What's your guess? will they wake up early, or go to bed super duper late?

I think the online group stage will not be live but casted from replays, so they will probably schedule a time which is good for everyone

Correct.

The only thing which make me a bit sad about this tournament is that imo it's not promoted enough and a lot of people might miss it.

It's like almost the most stacked foreign tournament ever, it should be promoted more heavily :/
Don't know if TL is reluctant to promote it or what's the reason but I fear that a lot of people might discover Iron Squid way after its start.

Still it is hardly possible to predict the outcome of Jjakji vs. Stephano. Jjakji is a GSL Champion but did not do that well in Team Leagues afaik and Stephano is Stephano. I would give a little edge to Jjakji for being korean but still I would say 55% : 45% at the most.

To me, this tournament is Korea VS The World.
This is the chance for foreigners to shine, to show they are equal of Korea.
This tournament will seal the eternal debate"Korea=World?", if none of the foreigners make it to the final bracket, it's definitly a proof that Korea is well ahead.
On the contrary if they manage to win or rank well, i think nobody should say Kora is superior to foreigners anymore.
That's the whole deal of the tournament if you ask me.

That's asking a lot of a single tournament. As we saw last year, Korean domination can be overwhelming, or non-existant just a few weeks apart

12 Koreans vs 8 foreigners, to begin with. Yeah, sounds like the perfect setup for a fair Korea vs The World battle, alright.

Ain't gonna happen. If Koreans win everything, it's nothing special. If foreigners win a few games, it's lag or bad playing times or something else.

It won't seal any debate.

He is pretty good. Simply the fact that he managed to qualify for this event (over players like Bomber and Keen) should tell you that. Best player on ZeNEX for sure, he also all-killed ReIGN in the IPL Team Arena Challenge (not that it was particularly difficult though).

I watched the qualifier and he was by far the best player, maybe his opponents were tired (it got pretty late), but he played really fucking well that day.

Jjakji is great, too, I don't know if I'd put Life ahead of him, but he's a serious contender!

Long post by the Iron squid team on the Pomf et Thud forums:
It's in French, I guess I can translate it if they don't post an english version themselves XD

TLDR:

-Stream time = 9PM CET
Rebroadcast = 10PM EST
6.30PM CET the day of the next stream

-quarter finals will be cast over two days, late in march, over a week end.

-Finals will take place on may 5.

-Cash prize does not come from sponsors.

-Slayers and IM called them back only the day before the second qualifier, which is why they added the 4 later.

-Tickets for the finals will cost around 30 euros for the whole day (11 AM to around 12 PM)

-Replay pack for the second qualifier should be out soon.

-They are reworking the Ironsquid.tv website to make it more user friendly.

+ Show Spoiler +

Groupe A:
Boxer
MKP
PuMa
Ret
ToD

Groupe B :
MVP
MC
Idra
ThorZain
Symbol

Groupe C :
MMA
Jjakji
Stephano
MaNa
NexLife

Groupe D:
Nestea
Leenock
Alive
Nerchio
HasuObs

Nous sommes actuellement entrain de revoir l'accessibilité à l'info sur le site, pour que ce soit plus clair :}

Groupe A:
Boxer
MKP
PuMa
Ret
ToD

Groupe B :
MVP
MC
Idra
ThorZain
Symbol

Groupe C :
MMA
Jjakji
Stephano
MaNa
NexLife

Groupe D:
Nestea
Leenock
Alive
Nerchio
HasuObs

Yeah, i know that is what they said, but it seems wrong, they said they're going to cast 2 times per week, and 2 or 3 bo3 per session. Approximatively, in one month, you have 8 sessions, so a maximum of 24 bo3. There are 40 bo3 just for the groups, it will need more than one month, plus no sense to have the quarter final at the end of march if we have to wait an entire month to see the semi-final and final.

I CALL IT NOW

Why do you think Life is better than jakji ? do you know him ? Because i never heard of this guy, i don't follow kr scene

Life will be in Code S fairly soon and is IMO the most promising up and coming zerg in Korea (along with Symbol). That said, I was watching a zvz of his recently (can't remember against who -- it was in a clan war) and it's definitely not on Stephano's level so I don't see him beating Stephano. His tvz is very good as well but I would have to favor MMA and Jjiakji against him. In short, I don't see him advancing, but he's extremely talented and it's not outside the realm of possibility.

=>>Pomf, one of the french commentators, as well as one of the founding father of Alt Tab Production (who manages the various P&T projects), was interviewed by millenium:

http://www.millenium.org/starcraft-2/accueil/actualites/sc2-pomf-iron-squid-2-deja-prevu-interview-du-fondateur-d-ogaming-tv-61788

+ Show Spoiler +

The two most interesting things to learn from this interview are the following:

-the location of the finals will be announced towards the end of march, it is in the center of Paris.

-Pomf's explanation of the Iron Squid concept:

We did not want to make another random tournament with a pompous name that can be summarized to an unattractive anagram, we wanted to give a particular and personal flavor to the tournament, to make it part of a story, a universe.
This is how the "Iron Squid" name emerged (after a lot of brainstorming with Noki), the "Calamar de Fer" and the guiding principle of the tournament:

"The best players in the world will not fight to prove that they are the best, but to receive the title of Iron Squid, a sort of silent guardian of Humanity"

The rest of the story will develop throughout the tournament, but I'll stop the spoil here.

=>> He was also interviewed by aAa (in french too)
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xp0cc3_pomf-nous-parle-de-l-iron-squid_videogames?start=985#from=embed

couple infos there: The planning of Iron Squid started in June, and Iron Squid has a 6 figure budget.
Moreover, they purposedly "ignored" a few good players in selecting the invitations because their style is "predictable", and they want to have interesting and cool matches.

sorry for double post, but the french Q&A was updated, and there is at least one BIG info!

+ Show Spoiler +

Oui

===> Groups are not random, they decided based on seeds, and the matches they wanted to see "(Idra Mc, Boxer Mkp, Nerchio Nestea etc...)" groups are purely subjective and they assume their choice completely. <====

The rest of the story will develop throughout the tournament, but I'll stop the spoil here.

couple infos there: The planning of Iron Squid started in June, and Iron Squid has a 6 figure budget.
Moreover, they purposedly "ignored" a few good players in selecting the invitations because their style is "predictable", and they want to have interesting and cool matches.

Haha, I love the title-of-Iron-Squid part. It's SC2 gone Mortal Kombat!

Anyways, this should definitely be added to the calender asap. Gj to TL for adding it to the big tournament tracker.
