No free stream at all is plain dumb if you talk about "furthering eSports"...
It doesn't matter that much as the MLG Pro Circuit will (may?) stay as is and there are always so many other ways to get into SC2.

Criticism is allowed. Undue flaming is not. Take a second to think your post through before you submit. Bans will be handed out. Should go without saying, but don't link restreams here either.

If we want to grow e-sports even further, we need to accept things like this. This money is directly supporting leagues, players, teams, which need money. Progamers are not living in mansions, drving 100k cars. Community is supportive as it is, but we need to take a step further. so we should all shell out $20 so progamers can live some dream lifestyle? Not to mention we haven't even heard any pro gamers. In actuality very little is publicly known about the finances of the current Esports scene. This is just MLG talking, for all we know GOM is turning a huge profit from using sensible business practices.

I think MLG could do themselves a favour by answering some of the communities concerns instead of just hiding behind the old "Buy a ticket and help esports"

If they had advertised it correctly I would not have bought Gold and I will certainly not do so in the future. This is like GSL "special" events all over again. I will be watching Assembly. Supporting esports and all that fancy talk is one thing, but misleading your customers and then slapping another pricetag on your tournaments is something different.

I don't mind paying for SCII, and I have "supported" Esports in many fucking occasions. I have paid well over 150$ in GSL subscriptions, 20€ in charity, and then some minor amounts for Assembly and HSC. But I hate it when they just steal my fucking money. tell me, what will gold members get from MLG this year? Because last year we got nothing extra compared to the 8 million people who just filled in a shitty hot pocket deal and got 3 free silver passes. I am somewhat mad atm, if you can tell me what I got SCII related from my gold membership I might be able to cool down and continue "supporting" MLG. But now I am just mad. You still can watch the MLG Pro Circuit Championship, thats the main event, the winter Arena is "only" a larger qualifier for the Championship with added pricepool.

It's such a good deal - just how poor are you? you've all been spoiled by free, unsustainable, low standard content, says I do you pay for every event there is? ESL, GSL, GSTL, MLG, IPL, NASL, ... That easily adds up to more than 100$ per month and I'm probably missing something. I'm just gonna take the guess and say you're not paying for all of this. And if that's the case, just how poor are you? I'm fine with paying money if the quality I get is good and if I feel like it's not overpriced. 20$ for a single event, on a weekend when I'm probably not spending all my time in front of the computer, when the event is in a different timezone and I can not watch a significant amount of the games - especially the finals? Not a good deal. At all. Not even a remotely good deal compared to the MLG Pro Circuit Gold membership. 20$ for this event is semi-okay for americans. It is, however, an extremely shitty deal for everyone in europe or asia. And all that while we have a comparable tournament running at the same time that offers a free HD stream. What was sundance thinking? I guess they are running out of venture capital.

$20 for a weekend of SC2 matches doesn't really compare favorably. Why compare MLG to expensive social stuff like cinema, drinking, and food instead of comparing it to other streaming services?

I can't wait to find out how well this goes for mlg, I mean, does it cost them money to make the show available on ppv? I'm pretty sure they are losing money unless they got some sick backing.

MLG is growing because of Starcraft, and all of us adorable fans. Halo and Call of Duty are all well and good, but it was shown all throughout 2011 that their viewership is much smaller than ours. I don't like how inorganic it feels. I am by no means against paying for Starcraft however, I have purchased many GSL passes. But this is something else. It seems like MLG is trying to scoop up some quick cash to support MLG, and not necessarily furthering esports or Starcraft.
