Nice! I love the look of the gaming area. Looks like a nice place to live :3 Recruit me M+ !

My hat is off to you Team-Millenium, your team house looks amazing. I think I was slightly drooling over your stockpile of excess gear. Definitely a place I can see pro gamers partying just as hard as they work!

As far as I know BlinG is over there because he's gonna participate in another tournament in France. I don't remember which though...
As for general info, afaik the purpose of the house is to be a Mill HQ too. Mill is composed of alot of different seccion and they've the TV so it's not surprising that it requieres a pretty good amount of space.
tl,dr : gg.

Adel's Itw. Sorry, my english is pretty rusty ... If anyone can edit it later, please feel free.
Hi everyone, Adelscott here, back to the GH in Marseille. With a nice blue sky and wether... pretty cool. I was in Paris to play the 2v2 LDLC Trophy finals with my mate ROG.MoMaN against DignitasBlinG and MilleniumStephano.
It was pretty rough for us, the games were very close and we lost 3-4. A pretty spicy Bo7... it's a bit sad but well... With MoMaN we are still competing in the HP Trophy... To explain the format: it's 1 2v2 and 4 1v1. We're gonna do our best.
Relating to the 1v1 [he's talking about his stuff nldr], I'm gonna participate in the eOSL Winter next friday against the winner of CN!KenZy vs MStephano. Considering that Stephano will probably win against KenZy it would mean a pretty interesing series between me and Stephano friday night.
We'll try to find something like put a camera or make a commentary of the games thereafter. Anyways, we'll both train alot........ Well I will.. I'll have to show that I'm able to "hurt" him and.. I think I might.. we'll see.. it's not sure yet that it will be Stephano so...
Apart from that, I'll be at the SpiritLan [French LAN event nldr] I think it's this week end. I won't be participating too much in the other french events.
You soon can see me play on the MilleniumTV, I'm think I'm streaming tonight at midnight.
That's all!
PS: Stephano did win eOSL ro8 against CN!KenZy 3-2
|
Congratz to Millenium for this beautiful house in a nice city !
|
I thought that Stephano would stop playing at the end of 2011. Seems like hes not and that´s good . Looking good for Millenium!
Edit: Nice glass floor in the playing area :DD
|
Awesome to see more foreign team-houses popping up. That means not all pros have to go to Korea to get into a team-house environment.
|
so stoked to see bling there and some of the other europeans doing well :D
|
awesome pictures ! jealous : D
|
Wow I did not see this coming from Millenium. Maybe I just missed an announcement. I really hope to see Tarson back in shape and ready to play on a higher level (if he isn't already). He seemed motivated after HSC3 but then I didn't see him at many events.
|
Nice too see all these teamhouses popping up in EU.
|
Whats with the girls on the pictures? Are they related in any way or is it just sexism? Doesn't look all that serious to me.
Edit: Nice house though, i'm happy to see how gaminghouses are comming up in our part oft he world as well

Stephano interview
What do you think of the Millenium gaming house ?
For now I can't say much about it, it hasn't even been 24 hours since I arrived here. But the gaming conditions are good, we'll have to see its effects over time, at the moment it feels good.
Why did you wear disguises during the LDLC 2v2 trophy (competition)?
I was with Dignitas.Bling when we did 2 bets in a row and the loser of each had to disguise himself as something. I lost the bet where you had to disguise yourself as a scumbag [T/n : I think he says “racaille” maybe someone who saw the event could verify if it makes sense] , he lost the bet where you had to disguise yourself as a hippie and then we went there (to the competition).
Do you like to play 2v2 ?
Yeah, it's a lot less stressful, we have a lot more fun playing those games, it's a lot less serious and it's not too complicated, there's no specific training for it, once you're good at 1v1 and you have a minimum amount of teamplay, you can get some good results [T/n : Can't really make out the last couple of words -->] in tournaments.
Do you like the HP trophy format ?
For now, the format is interesting, yeah, well, I prefer more choices on the maps. In some tournaments, there's always a map that I don't like so it's hard to know who will go on the maps that are picked, sorry ! Besides that, playing 2v2 and 4 1v1 is fine.
What will be your next offline tournament ?
I just confirmed to the admins today the fact that I'll be participating in Assembly, it will be my next offline event.
How long will you stay in the gaming house ?
For starters I'll stay for 10 days, after that I'll have to see whether or not I'll stay, it'll depend on how I feel. If I feel like it helps more than when I'm at home then [I'll stay].
Do you find it better to practice with other gamers in a gaming house ?
It's much more interesting to play against someone when he's right next to you to explain what went wrong and what went right. Aside from that, I don't think it changes much since the most important part is the match itself and you can play it next to each other or kilometres away from each other.
Any thanks/shoutouts ?
Yeah of course, I'd like to thank Bjoran for the work he's done, Cedrix too, for the gaming house I mean. My family, my mom, my brother and you for the interview, Jack. (pause) And the fans ! Of course, I love them !

Yesterday evening on Millenium.tv, Llewellis talked about discussion concerning offering a contract to Bling when his with Dignitas will end (at the end of February I think).
But he also stated that at Millenium they are eager to recruit one top European player already established rather than one who's still a relatively new comer like Bling, and also that Dignitas are willing to keep Bling and that they'll not interfere between them and Bling.

Same. It seems that they are building/reparing somethings in the house, i guess they will make a video when everything will be finished in the house. Just guessing, i'm not in Millenium's crew.

Something tells me that these stories are slightly exagerrated....
Kudos to them for having a sense of humour

house looks great... nice to see something positive coming out about millenium

Hmm... interesting how posting interviews is permitted in a foreign language, but comments aren't.

Maybe it's the pessimist in me, but am I the only one thinking these house are so much more affordable (or rentable, as the case may be) because of the huge economic downturn?
Not that it's an immediate issue, but I can imagine some issues arising if rent costs start going up.

congrats...sounds like a great move.

I don't leave in Marseille, but at least in France, and I can tell you, as crazy as it sounds, that there's (almost) no link between rent and economic down or upturn. Rent did not drop recently (they even increase in a lot of cases) even if living conditions have became harder for a lot of French people. Nevertheless, do keep in mind moreover that in France rent are less volatile than in Canada (at least than in Vancouver where I lived for a while), so this should not be an issue.

Rents didn't go down in France since 1998, it always goes up and went up by *2 between 1998 and 2006, specially in the biggest citires. Paris is the biggest by far, Marseille (where the GH is), is the second bigger city in France.
So...no. Crisis don't change anything about rents, thanks the rich people in the world who want to have a house anywhere in France (yeah, i'm a bit pissed off to pay a 630€ rent per month for 31m² in the asshole of the world...).
I don't think it's a big deal for Millenium tbh.

Ahhhhh! That looks so awesome, I really hope it brings out some quality play!

This is a great opportunity for BlinG to improve immensely.
GL Sam you beast!

My first thought was "what bling to Mill?"
|
- Korea - invents and refines the team house
- EG, Reign (?), players in Sweden, and (sorry forgot)... - refines further to be actual house with real air and personal space.
- Millenium - refines further with team villa perched sweetly on the cresting bosom of the French country-side, surrounded by a pastoral dreamscape, with coaching being assisted by hot French maids who are grandmasters on the Korean Server.

Watching Stephano's stream yesterday, MaNa sniped him and proceeded to beat him with a 3 pylon/cannon block, leading to some amusing rage from Stephano. Fun times :D

Isn't Stephano retiring this Fall to go to University? I hope Millenium has a plan in place to find a replacement for him.

Also, Tarson was far from gone (I mean from community not from practice ), as he attended a MLG Providence Barcraft in Kraków and just recently shoutcasted IEM Kiev in Polish. I really hope the team house works wonders for him, he really has some talent. Not to mention that I am his fan since Broodwar. DRUNKEN TERRAN fighting!

Only Stephano is providing any results and they nearly lost him at one point before Millenium panicked and quickly put money on the table to keep him (lol). Too put it into perspective, there are roughly 300-400 million native English speakers in the World. To match the estimated Mandarin speakers (Native and non-native) under the most conservative numbers, you'd have to triple that amount. AKA, the number of people speaking fluent English as a second/third language need to outnumber the native English speakers by more than double.

There's a big difference between speaking english/mandarin fluently as a second/third language, and speaking english/mandarin in some form.
Just want to point that out.
Also, I'm quite sure there are more people in this planet that can make themself understood in english, than mandarin. I have a feeling you are forgetting to take account of all those who use english, but don't appear in statistics. Take Times of India as an example, it has the largest daily circulation among all English-language newspaper in the world, even though only a quarter of a million in India use english as a mother tounge.
You should always be very wary of using statistics when it comes to language, because there's a high amount of uncertanity.

English may only be the second most spoken language in the world but look at this quote:
While English doesn’t have the most speakers, it is the official language of more countries than any other language. Its speakers hail from all around the world, including New Zealand, the U.S., Australia, England, Zimbabwe, the Caribbean, Hong Kong, South Africa, and Canada. We’d tell you more about English, but you probably feel pretty comfortable with the language already. Let’s just move on to the most popular language in the world.

It's pretty clear to me that when the developed part of the world decides to have just one language (in a hundred or so years, most likely) it will indeed be English...

I'm pretty sure its Chinese, then Spanish then English.
How ever, the French will never admit that French is not considered a world language by anyone else but France

English may only be the second most spoken language in the world but look at this quote: Show nested quote +While English doesn’t have the most speakers, it is the official language of more countries than any other language. Its speakers hail from all around the world, including New Zealand, the U.S., Australia, England, Zimbabwe, the Caribbean, Hong Kong, South Africa, and Canada. We’d tell you more about English, but you probably feel pretty comfortable with the language already. Let’s just move on to the most popular language in the world. http://listverse.com/2008/06/26/top-10-most-spoken-languages-in-the-world/It's pretty clear to me that when the developed part of the world decides to have just one language (in a hundred or so years, most likely) it will indeed be English... And the combined population of all of those countries is less than 1/4 of Chinas...
It's pretty clear to me that in a hundred or so years, when there's a combined total of 6-7 billion people in China and India, and they've centralized to Mandarin and Hindi, respectively, they won't take kindly to Westerners telling them what language to speak...

LOL, indeed. French was the international language decades ago but obviously not anymore XD. The only "world language" is english, period.
Still, french is spoken in a lot of countries: Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, Lebanon, a lot of african countries...

Hopefully you've brushed up on your Mandarin!
english might not be the most common native language, but it certainly is the language which by far most people can speak and understand, so stop being a smart ass about it!
Actually, no, it isn't. People who can speak and understand Mandarin outnumber the English speakers by a few hundred million.
AKA, the number of people speaking fluent English as a second/third language need to outnumber the native English speakers by more than double.
Yes, they would. And, they do. By a decently clear margin. Though, I think it's hard to define how good you have to be at a language to be considered "fluent".
OH LOOK, I butchered the quote! =(

Bumping this thread to put a 25min length report about Millenium house, made by a small chanel focused on geek culture. The report is pretty well done and shows the gaming house, and how Millenium evolved into one of the biggest gaming website in France. But, this is in french, I don't have the skills to subtitle it, and since this is from a tv chanel I'm not sure about copyright issues. You still can watch the tour of the gaming house, pool, sauna, rooms, webtv's studio etc...
Here is the link : Tour of Millenium house
