This incident is unpleasant for all parties involved. Today we have to to say goodbye to David 'SunCow' Al-Dughaither. Like we found out afterwards, David knowingly withheld important informations from us. Some of these informations involve his past which we won't discuss in detail at this point though. Unfortunately it is impossible for David to take part in European tournaments. Sadly this is nothing that fits our plans for the year 2012.
We wish David all the best for his future and hope that he can resolve his troubles in the near future.
mTw, the famous German organisation behind players such as DIMAGA and TT1 has recruited its 2nd Zerg, and its 6th player to the team.
David Al-Dughaither, AKA SunCow, is a 22 year old Polish player residing in Dubai. He left Alien Invasion this week to join up with mTw.
Personally, I had Never heard of the guy, but apparently, he was well known in the foreigner Brood War scene, having practiced in Korea, while being withMeet Your Makers. Does anyone know more about him?
Despite being one of the biggest organisations in Germany and Europe, mTw hasn't been seeking to sign big named players from other teams, but seems to be focusing on up and coming talent, such as in the case of SunCow and Underdark.
David Al-Dughaither will play StarCraft 2 for mTw from now on. The polish player got a lot of experience in eSport and several achievements. He played for Meet Your Makers in Korea and gained a lot of success like the polish championship or the second place at the Babara Starleague Korea.
David 'SunCow' Al-Dughaither trained one time as a pro-gamer in Korea. There he connected with the local scene and gained a lot of skill and experience. He ranked second at the Babara Starleague Korea and the YMBC Korea TV. David is 24 years old, lives in Dubai und speaks polish, english, arabian, russian, slovakish and german. He will play fulltime and will be active by streaming his action.

The ping from Dubai > EU server is better than NA/KR/SEA so we play on EU, I get about 0.5-1 sec delay when i play from home but from internet cafes it's very smooth because they always have better connection .

sheer lunacy imo, in best case scenario the MoonDonkey will end up being Incontrol of Europe, but without fanbase or casting skills and I don't even want to predict what's the worst case scenario

It's a bad move because he's pretty bad at sc2, oh well, gonna give him a chance. Atleast when I hit him on the ladder today he tried to play standard for the first time in his life (usually he does like 50% 6 pools and 50% roach/ling or roach/bling all ins)

mTw seems to have no problems giving first and for some, second chances. Not necessarily a bad thing, I see Suncow is exercising a bit of restraint on this thread, but is this the point where mTw finally gets bit in the arse for their open arms style of management?

Yes, I actually do. Most organizations have fucked up in the past (SK has, Fnatic has, and every other organization has.) And I dont really think any esport organization look through their players criminal record before recruiting them.

Well in defense of mTw I can say they could possibly have no idea about the individual since they were not into SCBW at the time as far as I remember. I mean who checks if a player has a criminal record before signing him, it's probably suncow alone in the whole progaming world.

I don't know about progaming, but checking if someone has a criminal record before hiring someone for a "normal job" doesn't seem too far fetched. I've had recruiters ask me what they would find if they looked me up when I looked for jobs when I was younger (not saying they actually bothered, mind you. I don't really look like I'm a threat to anyone).
Seeing as in progaming you actually sign a player to represent your team it seems like a good idea to check on their past? Then again I know nothing about how these things work, and I'm guessing you have a pretty good understanding of it.

He is still wanted by the article Art. 280 § 1 of Polish law. That means a robbery with use of violence or bringing a victim to a state of unconsciousness. He will get 2 to 12 years in prison for this if he ever appears in Poland, but first he will have to go through the whole lawsuit, which is additional 2-3 years.

Uhm, I don't think anyone excepts them to check if they have a criminal record so they can't go to Europe if the player doesn't say anything about it.

Uhm, I don't think anyone excepts them to check if they have a criminal record so they can't go to Europe if the player doesn't say anything about it.
I'm making a general criticism that teams are taking shortcuts in their selection process.

LOL, I didn't read it fully. Usually when I see a OP with someone joining a team, I just go straight to posting. I learned my lesson to say the least.
So, it seems every time something comes up with an SC2/BW cross over it turns out to be hilarious. I'm begining to hope for more (BW people: Not saying I want BW to lose players) SC2 news with BW history because I can't wait to see more awesome highlights. Also begining to feel like I really missed out for missing the last decade.

Move on from this? Nothing even happened, a team asked him to join so he did. They obviously had some sort of mis-communication so he had to leave. There's nothing to move on from, he is prevented from playing Europe and that's that. It's not like he recently made some big mistake or is hurting ESPORTS.

Well, it's sad how some stupid act can ruin your whole life.
I don't want to tell he's a good person now, or what he (is rumored to) done in the past is not a big deal, but it's sad he's screwed even now.
Whatever you think of him, the fact he actually got in Dubai, got his life together, made it on his own and got good at Starcraft shows he's not an useless person, he is ambitious. Not the typical "i've no job, no education, so ima burn down london n steal some stuff, cuz them governments aint no gonna give them to me, tho i deserve".
SunCow is apparently really good at tenis, good/really good at sc and that's actually better than majority of population. Most of the ppl are average on everything.
On the other hand, i completely understand when people say "well, he was an adult, he should've had common sense and be responsible". Seeing 18 year old kids these days i guess our society fails on providing people with these on a general rule, but that's for a different topic.

I doubt they'll have to compensate him, as he would be unable to do the job they were hiring him for and it was him who didn't inform them of a potential (and obvious) conflict there. Also, I would assume there's a generic clause to back out of the contract within a period of time and even then only if there's no "cooling off period" law which I would assume there is.
I think this is way funnier than the Pepe debacle. mTw.SunCow well always be remembered as the fastest guy to get kicked from a SC2 team after he's been recruited. Teams really need to be do more research before recruiting someone to carry their name and brand.

Ummm... They need to follow a certain format to work, and a contract in U.S Is not valid in UK. If you read the stephano-Complexity thread you see that the contract was not binding in France because it was writen in english, not french. And there have been said in multiple occasions that the player contracts often arn't owrth the paper they are written on. So no, there isn't only one contract that is legally bindnig in the world.

To be fair, he did commit a violent crime and then flee the country. If this didn't follow him there would be an issue.
I don't have any pity for this guy actually. He committed a crime, and then rather than serve time, jumped out of the country and went to Dubai. I'd have pity if he did his time and rejoined society or whatever, but just hopping the country is unethical and wrong, unless theirs some seriously bizzare extenuating circumstance.

You're the one who put yourself back out in a public forum by not telling mTw their was a warrant for your arrest in the EU. You can hardly blame us and call us retards for getting involved.
If what I've learned from the thread is true, his "friends" were going to all have the same story, and blame everything on him. The court probably would have sided against him, actually, regardless of even considering race.

That's not true. There used to not be an observer mode (like you see on iccup) that would let you observe what units people were making and such. He just used it to study in terms of watching others play, not to cheat himself. There's a BIG difference.

So one shouldn't pay for their crimes at all? If you're young you can commit any crime you want as long as you don't know the consequences of what you're doing? I think you need to reevaluate your morals there since ignorance is no defense when breaking the law. You should ALWAYS take the punishment for what you've done as a person no matter how bad cause there isnt a person who is above the law no matter their situation or unknowingness. Except that you robbed someone with aggravated assault which is different than having your family endangered... everywhere you have been you have gone out of your way to find trouble successfully.
A man also owns up to his/her mistakes. As far as I can remember you ran away out of the European Union which is quite ironic considering what you're saying in your post.
If SunCow wouldn't run away from the consequences of his actions I would of course feel bad for him that he has been forced to live in exile. However, he does nothing to acknowledge his mistakes and on the flip side, he even defends them in any way possible and lies to people about what actually happened. So one shouldn't pay for their crimes at all? If you're young you can commit any crime you want as long as you don't know the consequences of what you're doing? I think you need to reevaluate your morals there since ignorance is no defense when breaking the law. You should ALWAYS take the punishment for what you've done as a person no matter how bad cause there isnt a person who is above the law no matter their situation or unknowingness. Being a criminal is an act of treachery that should always be punished no matter what.

Okay so here we find ourselves in a thread, about a player that was kicked from his team because of a criminal background. The discussion is mostly about his criminal past and how we as a community look down upon such behavior. My thoughts seeing this was to the horrible vid with the group beating. That is what suncow did. Beat the shit out of someone, completely defenseless with others to help him. Even though the person might not be 100% innocent he was still totally defenseless in a 1vX(more than one opponent), and it is cruel and heartless to do such a thing. So I comment on how that is fucking disgusting, and you go "NO MAN, NOT IN THIS THREAD MAN, TAKE THAT SHIT SOMEWHERE ELSE!"
