I enjoyed the commercial!

To be honest I'd buy it simply on the basis of that commercial

Neither the sponsorship nor the company itself will be made or broken by GSL fans tweeting and Facebooking-ing, or doing ANYTHING for that matter. Just because they sponsor a tournament I like doesn't mean I back up the company. I am not a billboard.
Someone watched too much fight club

Every single BW League ( OSL, MSL, and Proleague) is referred to by fans, TL, and even Liquipedia by [SPONSOR] [TOURNAMENT], even years after the tournament is over. It makes sense, too, as sponsors pay to have their name attached to that league. However, in SC2 everyone seems to actively avoid referencing the title sponsor for GSLs. I feel like I'm the only one who tried to refer to it as the HOT6iX GSL in my thread. I get that GSLs used to happen almost every month month and it was cumbersome to keep track of, but now that we get 2-3 month long GSLs we should change. There will only be 5 main GSLs this year, which is comparable to the number of individual leagues Brood War used to have (6, 3 OSLs and 3 MSLs). We should NOT refer to this GSL as the 2012 GSL January, 2012 GSL S1, but as the HOT6iX GSL, much like the Korean Air OSL, Arena MSL, or SK Planet Proleague.
I guess we could, but it doesn't seem like this season is branded. If you look at GOMtv.net some seasons have name branding but this one doesn't.

The advert doesn't surprise me from a drink that is meant to sound a bit rude if you say too fast. In future, I will go up to girls in bars and say:
Hey baby, you fancy some Hot6?
Followed by:
Oh and want me to buy you a drink too? (ho ho ho)

I'd buy if I could, might check the sight which I use to import Dr Pepper (as they sponsor MLG since 2008).

holy gg batman. how did you even find that?

who cares? they sponsor the GSL, ok thats great, doesnt mean this should be interesting for "us". Nobody should buy stuff because of advertisement anyway, I don't see any difference here.
So, if Hot6 is not sponsoring TL for this thread this should be closed immediately.

If everyone thought like you do, no company would have an incentive to invest in e-sports.

Hot6ix isn't a company of its own, it's actually a brand released by Lotte Chilsung Beverages, which is a very large company .
In any case, I actually didn't even know there was a drink called Hot6ix until they sponsered the GSL. I buy it every once in a while now when I work OT (which is pretty much every night).

Thank you Lotte for your support in GSL. While we don't have Hot6ix brand drinks here, we do have the Lotte branded snacks here in Singapore. I'm switching from the Meiji brand of Japanese snacks to Lotte just because you support GSL!

god that hot6 advertisement rocks
|
I think it's great that they have sponsored GSL but their name is just awful. Hot6 sounds like a hot line for girls! In addition to that the weird ix makes no sense.

Hot6 is not some kind of charity we all need to pray now for beeing so awesome. It's just a company which saw an oppertunity to get their name out and make money out of it. There's not really a problem with that but they don't do it because they love esport so much, but because they want to make money.

awesome awesom awesome comercial!!!!
|
problem is that hot6ix is not available outside of korea
|
Hah, I love commercials/adverts with some real good humour in them. Yes, this needs much more awareness.
Final note: Tasteless needs to stop just randomly saying "Hot Six" when a game starts. Its supposed to be something more like "Sponsored by Hot Six" at least. They took their other sponsors seriously, why do Tastosis poke fun at this one. I'm sure the sponsors love that.
