I believe their is a sponsor conflict because EG is sponsored by Steel Series and Slayers by Razer.

ST is sponsored by Zowie and Quantic is sponsored by Razer.
Can some1 explain the difference between this and Proleague format? From what I see I think this format is a little better?

Why do they make it this complicated? Getting down from 10 to 8 teams?
They need a total of 8 games for this (3 qualification, 5 groupplay).

If they just did a round robin with groups of 5, it would be 10 games, only 2 more.

No EG (((( they have 4!! players in korea wtf i cant have enough of watching IdrA lose

Their problem is, they said on this thread on reddit, that firstly they have no coach over there, and secondly they want more variety in their lineup rather than the same 4 guaranteed, i think.

True, however Incontrol and Demuslim coming over to spend time there as well, plus they could hire a mercenary or two (Sen/Morrow/ToD/Naama/Chinese players in Korea). I don't think having the same players guaranteed would be too much of a problem. I mean those players are all already in Korea, and any exposure to the EG brand plus the experience from the extra games on the big stage are of big benefit. If they get knocked out of the first round then so what...

I'd love to see every team to play against every team once in a one group.. No seedings or anything :/ It is always these weird formats (For teamleagues imo.)

Well Idra was the one who said in the CSN interview that they couldn't participate in the GSTL was because of steelseries/razer.
Apparently Zowie aren't whiny bitches

Proleague: Every player just plays once (in previous seasons the ace player could play twice), so both teams change players after each match.
GSTL uses the all-kill format (player plays until he loses, then his team has to chose the next player)
If that's what you wanted to know.

What's better? That's a matter of taste and totally subjective.

I agree, and what's wrong with seeing rookies play instead of the same players you see every GSL or other international tournaments. If they changed it because of rookies, I think they made a big mistake.

Jeeze what is wrong with round robin with playoffs, like everyone is used to? Gom sure love making up weird and complicated formats.
King of the Hill as a match format is fine.

FXO vs Slayers will be great, especially after what Oz had to say about Slayer's terrans.

As an sc2 fan who hasn't actually seen the pro league format, I gotta say it sounds like it could be pretty interesting, especially with the ace match. I'd like to see it used in sc2 at some point.

I also gotta say, the format does seem kinda weird; but if Gom decided that they didn't have enough time to do a full ten-team league, then this seems like a much better way to do things than just choosing who gets to play, either by gsl points or just arbitrarily, like they used to do.

SlayerS > FXO
oGs-TL > ZeNEX
StarTaleQ > NSH
IM > TSL

And MVP and Prime will still be huge forces to be reckoned with

Sponsorship; Steelseries and Razer sponsor the two teams.
