Why do they make it this complicated? Getting down from 10 to 8 teams?
They need a total of 8 games for this (3 qualification, 5 groupplay).

If they just did a round robin with groups of 5, it would be 10 games, only 2 more.

I'd love to see every team to play against every team once in a one group.. No seedings or anything :/ It is always these weird formats (For teamleagues imo.)

Well Idra was the one who said in the CSN interview that they couldn't participate in the GSTL was because of steelseries/razer.

Proleague: Every player just plays once (in previous seasons the ace player could play twice), so both teams change players after each match.
GSTL uses the all-kill format (player plays until he loses, then his team has to chose the next player)
If that's what you wanted to know.

What's better? That's a matter of taste and totally subjective.

I agree, and what's wrong with seeing rookies play instead of the same players you see every GSL or other international tournaments. If they changed it because of rookies, I think they made a big mistake.

Jeeze what is wrong with round robin with playoffs, like everyone is used to? Gom sure love making up weird and complicated formats.
King of the Hill as a match format is fine.

As an sc2 fan who hasn't actually seen the pro league format, I gotta say it sounds like it could be pretty interesting, especially with the ace match. I'd like to see it used in sc2 at some point.

I also gotta say, the format does seem kinda weird; but if Gom decided that they didn't have enough time to do a full ten-team league, then this seems like a much better way to do things than just choosing who gets to play, either by gsl points or just arbitrarily, like they used to do.
