Dear GOMTV.net users,
GOMTV presents the new format for the 2012 GSTL Series. The Global StarCraft II Team League will finally return on January 27th, 2012 (KST) with a slightly tweaked format. The GSTL will run for about 3 months and will be held 3 times in 2012. The format will differ from the one used during 2011 GSTL Season 1.
GSTL Format
The Format for the GSTL has been adjusted to fix an issue where the best player of a team weren't able to play due to the full league system that has been used. Because the scene is broadening and more teams might want and be able to participate in the future, the new system is now also more flexible and can possibly allow more teams to enter instead of being limited to the existing teams.

The GSTL will be divded into three rounds. There will always be two seeded teams, for the first GSTL Season of 2012 these teams will be last season's finalists MVP and Prime. All matches will be Bo9. Quantic Gaming will be participating in GSTL joining forces with StarTale. Therefore, the team name will be StarTaleQ.(NaNiWa and SaSe will be in StarTaleQ)
Round 1
The remaining 8 participating teams are matched up against each other. The winning four teams advance to the second round. The 4 losing teams play each other in the losers bracket, the two winning teams will advance do the second round.
Round 2
There are now 8 teams in the second round consisting of the 2 seeded teams and the 6 teams which advanced from round 1. These 8 teams are divided into two groups of 4 which will be played out with the Dual Tournament Format (see above for explanation)
Round 3
1st of Group A will play 2nd of Group B and 1st of Group B will play 2nd of Group A. The winning teams will meet in the finals.
