Well...it's unhealthy? Like, on a personal level, it's just not a good thing to be fat.

Well, girls mainly. I can see how guys wouldn't really care. Anyone, appealing or not to begin with, that works out or takes care of themselves is going to be seen in a better light than someone who stays up 22hrs out of 24 and only showers once a week.

unattractive males that are unattractive due to their own choice, I.E. not taking care of their hygeine, hair, facial hair, or having absolutely no sense of style makes me NOT want to watch them, or root for them in tournaments regardless of playstyle or skill. I'm a straight male at that, so I could only imagine what a turn-off it would be for a straight girl or gay man to see a sloppy person in eSports, and formulate thier opinion of it as a whole off of them. A single negative image can outweigh multiple positive images.

It's unfortunate but it's true; appearance matters.

Being fat is not unnatural, there can certainly be advantages (physically) to it. Just because someone isn't overweight doesn't mean they aren't unhealthy as shit.

Also I don't get how someone would not root for a player based on their facial hair or "lack of style." If that is you proof that apparence matters, then we have different definitions of what "matters."

Then they aren't really "fat", they're just "big". Fat, in today's language, implies a degree of overweightness that is unhealthy and/or not attractive.

This, i wouldnt really consider Incontrol "fat" for example like aparantly a lot of trolls have, especially considering he can bench nearly 200kg.

There is a difference between bodybuilding and actually lifting weights for strengh which a lot of people dont see, bodybuilders usually just seek to make themselves "look good" and not actuly get the best lifts etc, which requires a lot more body mass.

That's only the case if you're in a heavy-weight class, where the you can wheigh whatever. Having more weight will give you better leverages and allow you to lift more but more muscle is better than leverage. So if you compete at 100kg, someone at 10% bf will lift more than someone at 20% bf, assuming equal strength training.

That is a complete lie. There is a reason why Bodybuilders cannot actually lift the same weight as power lifters, bodybuilding is very unhealthy for you. You are literally starving and dehydrating yourself on purpose to reach that body. Powerlifting requires a lot of core muscle, which is located at your belly button. That is why they seem to be fat.

The only reason bodybuilders(most) lift less than powerlifters is because they train differently, and I clearly stated same training in my post. And no matter how strong your core is it will never make you look fat, because abs and obliques are very small muscles. Big obliques will make you appear wider, but not fat. They look fat because they are fat. Nothing else.

Any bodybuilder who goes into a contest dehydrated is retarded since it's both dangerous, and because you WANT water to fill up your muscle cells, which makes them look bigger. By not drinking any water you will look flat and soft on stage. Also, Bodybuilding isn't even remotely unhealthy unless you pump your ass full off anabolic substances.

I believe this to be off-topic so I won't engage in further conversation about this.

It´s not about looking. It´s about how healty you live. If you aren´t eating healty and you are not doing any sports aside from Starcraft it´s no wonder that some people don´t think you are attractive.
There aren´t many people that are natuarlly ugly.

Greetings.

Well, the USA is well-known for having a high population of fat people. If that ever changed I think it would be too weird. Good luck prying that Mnt Dew and Doritos from americans. You will have to fight them to the death

And yes I am american and I am fat. It's just how we are. Everyone has the right to be different

These korean gamers are so badass. Sleeveless shirts and photoshopped arms only add to the hardcore badass factor. Just imagine, at any instant they could suffer from carpal tunnel or perhaps a light induced epileptic fit - so courageous.

Honestly, women aren't the biggest fans of sports in the "foreign" world regardless of the sport. They simply value different things (in general) than men.

"The western idea of hardcore gamers being unnatractive and unhealthy is true for the most part! Likely the reason why there are so few female fans in the foreigner scene compared to the asian scene."

To be painfully honest, when the best "athletes" from Korea are video game players of course Korean women are going to be attracted to them. The pride of the korean nation seems to be esports players because they are the best internationally. In the foreign world, the best and most popular athletes play sports like soccer, football, baseball, and basketball among others. And, these men dominate these sports and therefore attract admiration from the people in their own nation.

Im sure that if Korea had the best soccer players and teams the majority of female sports enthusiasts would focus on both soccer and the sport's players. When a nation posseses the best players in one sport compared to another, it expresses that the nation (as a product of the people interests) values that sport and its attributes more than any other. Hence, Korea values not the ability to run fast or jump high, but the ability to think fast and strategize in varying situations. It's only secondary that these Korean gentleman are in above average shape and focus more on their appearance than their foreign counterparts. This only compounds the female fan's admiration - it doesn't create it.

Simply put, putting Idra in designer fashions and giving him a makeover and workout routine will not increase the viewership of esports. In order for esports to be a legitimate sport capable of competing with the more physical forms of sport, a severe change in the ideals of the foreigner needs to occur. Dolling up the gamers won't do crap.

bisu is wonderfully attractive, if he were in a kpop boy band he would still shine like a star
there is no one like that here. if you put any non korean progamer in like, nsync, he would be laughed at as the ugly one.

Yeah, it's fucking pathetic. I'm glad we have none of that crap here. Fix game balance first, fix maps first, fix the ugly ass bnet minus two point crap oh interface and system, add a banlist for hackers, add a 'rejoin game after disc' feature, bring back clan functionality and FUCKING REAL chat channels...and only then...only then, ruin the scene with idiotic music and terribad metrohomo approaches.

I care about how players play, not about how they look. If I want to see beautiful people, esports is not my first resource...and it shouldn't be.

And while you're at it, get rid of the retarded 'hwaiting' phrase, it makes me picture those who say it as unable to utter the word 'waiting' properly, like if there were something stuck in their throats and they dragged the H to places they shouldn't.

In a nutshell, keep e-sports gaming related, thanks.

I find myself agreeing with this post, as uncomfortable as it is for me to say that. I have no problem with homosexuality, but jumping into the SC2 scene and finding everyone calling the dudes up there " cute" or "handsome" is kinda off putting for anyone who wants to get into e-sports. I never understood how that even became the norm here in the first place.

Also agree with "hwaiting". Theyre saying the word "fighting", why not spell it that way? You know the Koreans who actually say it don't even spell it "hwaiting" because they got their own writing system. It also just sounds goofy ass hell to anyone unless youre actually a Korean person living in Korea. Not a big deal tho, just a pet peeve. Its like when Japanese people add English to their song lyrics, it usually just sounds retarded because theyre copying another culture and not doing it well at all.
