Idra however went 3-3 vs no names in his wcg group. But he is very popular! You are making so much sence naniwa is only like 1-10 in GSL but he is very popular! Idra oonly made the measly ro8.... geez

Makes sense from a business perspective to increase foreigner star power, but seeding people in without any kind of skill test (eg MLG) seems very wrong for what's supposed to be the most prestigious tournament. They could have even held playoffs or something and it would be better than this. I was looking forward to seeing IdrA's path back to Code S, and now it's just handed to him on a silver platter? I agree with you. GSL has always been considered the top tournament where there's a hellish journey to get to code S. Now foreigners that probably aren't better than many code B/A koreans are automatically seeded into the top rung. It just goes against what i feel the GSL was about. Marketability vs serious professional sport. It's probably because SC2 isn't large enough to sustain a league like the GSL without them pandering to fans and inviting popular players. The only reason it's called the Global Starcraft II League is because they work very hard to inject foreign players directly into code A/S because no one but HuK has made it in the last 6 months.

It's known by everyone that you could compete in Code A by either competing in the Code A qualifiers in Korea or by competing in an MLG and getting a high enough place to qualify for Code A. This on the other hand is completely different. Do you actually know why Idra and Sen got seeded to play in Code S? There weren't any qualifiers for those spots, they were hand-picked by GOM to be directly placed into their highest league. No, getting "good foreign tournament results" isn't good enough if they didn't establish beforehand in which tournaments and how good of results you need to get to qualify for Code S. How about Hero, shouldn't he get a seed because of Dreamhack? How about Puma? This isn't about Idra or Sen mind you, it's about getting two players to play in Code S just because GOM feels like it. That completely undermines the competitive aspect of the league. I don't agree with the exchange program either or any sort of invite based turnaments. My point was that when SjoW and company went to Code A everyone was saying that it was justified. Now when Idra and Sen (both which are a lot more acomplished than everyone else that went through the same exchange program) the competition is suddenly invalid. Which is quite ridiculous. Yes, they are playing in GSL because GOM feels like it. Just like it is with every single invite based turnament. Would you or anyone for that matter seriously argue that DH's invites undermines the competition? It's not about if the players are accomplished or not, it's whether they got the spot via an established way or if they just got the spots because they were arbitrarily handed out to them... "Just like it is with every single invite based tournament"? Are you serious? GSL isn't an invite based tournament, you get there through qualifying for it, yes even through the MLG way. Everyone knows Dreamhack is invite based, GSL isn't but suddenly they hand out invites in the same season that other players are qualifying for it, without prior notice. I have no idea how you can mix up those two cases.

People lost interest in NASL S2 becuse there were no koreans and now GOM give away spots in the most prestigious SC2 tournament to foreigners. Everything seems messed up somehow. idra was code s when he left and he was never out of code s technically so rly don't see how is it a handout and oh u r swedish.....
