Well my situation was, the people to advance have been confirmed so I turned GOM off because I figured well Nestea and Naniwa won't be playing and I've had more TvTs than I can stand in my lifetime, but then my friend who was watching said that they are playing a match. Pretty pointless but I'd like to see it anyway. Then he said before I had turned it on that I have to see what's happening right now! So I turn the stream back on to see the probes go in and die, I laughed my ass off. Now before you get the wrong impression that I'm some sort of Naniwa sympathizing asshole that BMs people on ladder all day every day, I'm not, in fact I've either only been well mannered or even helpful if asked. I figured with this situation, fair enough, who gives a shit if they're not going to advance anyway, but apparently a lot of people do. WHY? A lot of you really need to chill out.

What he did was human, but I'd still prefer to have seen professionalism instead.

Progamers (and athletes, etc...) are entertainers.

This was hilarious. I'm entertained.

Nani is right. People who feel like the sacred tradition of progaming has been disrespected and tarnished need to get over themselves.

aw.. poor panda, I'll give you a hug. That Naniwa will not hurt you anymore!

on a side note, according to snowbird's twitter (gomtv's admin), they have already decided to never invite Naniwa to another special tournament outside of the main GSL tournament due to the negative responses from the Korean viewers.
So what I'm trying to say is... we should stop arguing over this because the verdict has been decided.

i think that's a pretty fair decision. nothing that would affect qualifications that he can earn, but no more invites to invite only stuff.

kudos to gom for that.

as a Korean, I can only see this in one perspective.
maybe it's the culture difference but
seems absolutely ridiculous to me that a player would do something like this and should be harshly criticized for it. (this is irrespective of the player's nationality of course.)

With regards to NaNiWa playing to win:

A lot of the times, Progamers make most of their income from their team, from streaming, and from sponsorship deals. A lot of the times, tournament winnings are just a bonus.

For me it is more a shame, that a lot of the esports community have no idea about professional sport.
It's like naniwa pointed out, if he would have 4gated no one whould have complained, but he didn't want to waste our time.

They are at the same time to prevent matchfixing.

There are still many matches in football and other sports that matter as much as the match Nani threw away, and they all get played out. You don't see teams kicking the ball in their own net and then leaving the pitch because they don't care.

Its not even about a sacred tradition. Its about being professional. Nani needs to realize there is more than just playing games to being a pro-sc2 player. This is just another thing to add to the list. You have major organizations that won't even touch this guy, despite being amazing at this game. That speaks volumes about him.

So you can be disqualified for "invitational tournaments" because the viewers didn't like your behaviour? Shame on you GOMTV...

Naniwa didnt attack his own units and he didn't leave the game before it was over so your comparisons are moot.

Not disqualified. They just won't invite him anymore. They can decide who they invite based on whatever they want, that's why it's called invitational. I personally appreciate that GomTV is strict with those things.

That is very unfortunate. I will NEVER watch another GOM cast or give them my money again because of this. If you want to know why, please see my post on page 30.

Absolutly right. I think this was just a stupid move by nani.

if you read the actual twitter post, he mentioned that nani won't be invited to invitationals. it has no effect on things he can qualify for, such as the main GSL tournament. how is that a problem?

I booed Nani after the thumbs down incident at MLG (I was there in person), and later cheered him for his good mannered loss to Leenock in the finals. I totally understand his decision, and think it was also a nice snub to what I consider an inferior format (Bo1 group matches are sooooo fickle, and deprive us of good games [though today's were GREAT]).

Also, I'm still pissed that Stephano just barely didn't qualify as his play is so unique and I think that seeing him versus Koreans would be the ultimate treat and a great display of foreigner skill.

The game should not have been played.
And Naniwa should not have played it like this.
