Stephano is talented yes, but so are many other pros, he's not the best player in the world.
Nobody is a super clear best in the world in sc2. that's reserved truly dominant players like flash/jd. MVP and Nestea... Best in the world, I think anyone will agree. Not really MVP is of course one of the best but there is still none 'best player in the world" in sc2. You can't lose against Haypro, or leenock and being the best. I didn't follow Brood War. But you can't seriously tell me that Flash, in his prime, never lost to an inferior opponent? A player doesn't have to be super dominant to be the best. He just needs to be better than everyone else. Also the fact that you would use Leenock as an example of a bad player proves you have no idea what you're talking about. I'm not talking about bw. I'm not saying you can't lose games. And I'm not telling that leenock is a bad player, actualy it was the opposite, that there are players who can beat MVP because he isn't the best. Some other players (like Leenock for exemple) are even with MVP.
I was just expressing my opinion that MVP lose some games right and left that make me think he can't be called the best player of the world. He is one of those who are dominating hard.
Edit : yeah he didn't lose to haypro, I mixed some games, with Leenock, naniwa and the miracle that Haypro almost made.

Huh? Stephano beat KiwiKaki, Violet (Code A), Inori (Code B), TheSTC(Code B) and Lucky (Code A). And didn't theStC 2-0 Stephano back in MLG one week or couple after?
The oGs coach told StC how to beat Stephano. I think that this alone solidifies what IdrA and a few others have said:
Once people figure out Stephano's style, he won't be as successful as he is.

Sum total of evidence provided by book-long OP:
- Stephano won IPL 3 even though he only practiced 3 hours per day.
- Stephano reached top 35 on KR ladder after 100 games.
- Stephano beat Forgg once.
From that you conclude that Stephano is the best player in the world?
Always fun to see someone try to bait clicks with a provocative thread title and then fail miserably at supporting their over-ambitious argument.

Why does everyone cite beating notable Koreans as a reason for 'best player in the world'. Do you know who else defeats other Koreans? The Koreans!
MVP's August GSL run: 1-0 MC (2 time GSL champion) 1-0 Polt (Super Tourney Champion) 2-0 Nestea (God of Zerg) 3-0 Huk (Top 3 control one of the best foreigners) 3-1 July (God of War) 4-1 TOP (solid macro Terran at the time).
No foreigner has come close to doing anything similar to this. I would say Huk's Orlando run was more impressive than Stephano's IPL3 run.

Just wait for BlizzCup to finish. Think that is the best idea.

Way too premature to declare Stephano the best in the world. Sure, he's an extremely talented player, but people are just simply too eager to latch onto a foreigner they hope will stop the "domination of Koreans." There's a reason they are the best at what they do. They have insanely disciplined practice regimens(albeit less so for SC2) and have a wealth of experience in the field. As much as people like to deny BW as giving an advantage, some skills undeniably carry over, namely mechanics and multitasking. Wait a year or so and a few GSL seasons, maybe Stephano will prove something, maybe he won't.

Yeah lets overhype him so he fails to deliver. He won two tournaments, one of them wasn't even major. He is a good ladder player but imho that doesn't mean much. Lets please step away from picking some new player ever month or so who is supposedly the best in the world. Stephano is quiet good and seems to have a lot of success on ladder, he did win ipl3 with some good koreans and that french tournament with like 3 koreans in it. If he wins blizzcup we can start hyping him up. Until then he remains a good foreigner.

I find that you didn't really live up to your thread title. You mostly just tell us what he will do and he will win and has lots of potential.
I expected more analysis.

And this thread is ridiculous. It's fine if you want to hype up your favorite player but try to be atleast somewhat reasonable if you want to be taken seriously.

Don't know if blizzcup will be the most relevant tournament with bo1 in pool play, but it's sure that fanboys or haters will use the results.
But why is this still not locked?
Oh yeah and just
So a Broodwar background did help, although bonjwas and legends such as Nada, July, and Boxer did not live up to their foreclaimed glory.
Saying that just shows your ignorance or that you are trolling.
July never was a bonjwa, Boxer beat stephano at mlg orlando and nada pretty much stopped practicing since he started his mall project. And the three weren't even a teamer at the end of their bw carier.

MVP has been more consistent than Leenock over the past few months. Even the best player may have his kryptonite I beat everyone in the world but i only lose to this guy who seems to get the better of me. But this guy loses to everyone else. I am still the best player in the world if i get into the finals of all the tourneys i take part in.

Full of factual errors.
"The only real foreigner hope after Jinro seemed to hit a huge slump after a RO8 run was once again, EG_Idra" Jinro had just beaten Idra 3-1 in gsl to make it to round of 4, not 8.
Idra left Korea before GSL March, not "in the middle of a deep Code S run"
"At the end of it call Stephano decisively eliminated the following Koreans from his path: FXO_Lucky (4-0 in the finals) Ogs_TheSTC FXO_Inori MVP_Violet Slayers_Boxer Slayers_MMA" MMA and Boxer were eliminated by Lucky, not Stephano.
"although he crashed through waves of Code S korean players" Of the Koreans he actually beat, only 1 had ever been in code s, Violet and he had fallen from code s 2 months before IPL 3.

While this is quite a nice read, i really do not like thread titles like these. Can't you just say "one of the best" , this way most people might actually enjoy the content this thread provides. When you say "the best" a lot of people will get "butt hurt" and just say you are an idiot because they think their favorite player is much better.
6 pages in and this thread already went down the drain

LiquidFahq you are being ridiculous. I think I'm going to make a post in general section titled " why the Earth is flat". Hopefully I'll get 6 pages too.

I think the OP has been smoking a joint made out of Stephano's hair or something...no other explanation for this crap.

Stephano lost macro games to BoxeR. I love both of those guys, but if that is a possibility then he isn't the best player in the world by a long shot.
