Sounds fishy. Seltzer debunked it.

Just saying.
You'd be surprised how hard it is to get a legitimately-working one of those in the Philippines.

Yeah, I thought it sounded fishy too. As I said in the other thread, I don't have access to the stream chat at work - someone said it, Slasher asked community for confirmation, and is unable to confirm it. So just wondering if that someone was spewing bullshit.

TheGunrun last said about an hour ago that Amanda's debt is still outstanding and Gus hasn't repaid him for the hotel fees (although they have spoken on the phone).
Seltzer hasn't posted anything on twitter. The last two posts being the one about international lawsuits and another telling about her plans to start a reddit thread to keep people up to date.

Seltzer seems to have missed a bunch of what's happened. Maybe I'm wrong.
Anyhoo, someone was in chat for Lo3 that knows gus and clide, asked clide if Gus had payed Amanda yet and clide said no. Also, Setlzer said she is out of pocket $700, and that Gus owes money to her and Tasteless for their hotel rooms. She also said she stole all the RAM from the computers...couldn't tell if that was a troll or not.

I'd avoid taking anything said in the Lo3 chat as gospel unless it was said by someone who is a verifiable source (ie we know exactly who they are and that they aren't trolling/misinforming etc). The person/people in chat aren't close to what I would call verifiable.

lol, we didn't steal the ram. We had to use it to get some computers SC2 capable. Essentially just transplanting ram so some rigs could actually play the game well.
Also, Amanda still has yet to get paid by Gus. And I'll deal with what Gus owes me once I'm back in the states.
Sadly my flight just arrived at the gate, and I'll be out of commission for the next 20 hours, hope to see good news once I'm back!

Have a safe flight TGR!!!
Thanks for the correction on Clive
Additional news, Slasher was in contact with one of the employees at S2, the people who paid 2k for the prize pool for the HoN tournament. They said that Gus has not repaid any of that money.

IIRC, Gus has been bs'ing about holding a HoN tournament in the near future.

As I said in our StarcraftPH page...
I sincerely hope IGN does the right thing and pays the remaining amount to the right people (Clive for handling the accommodation for the foreigners, Amanda for being the Logistics manager for the foreigners, etc). At the end of the day, no matter how bad, there was still a product and IGN needs to pay for that. The PPSL crew (with the help of IGN people) produced 16++ hours of content with 10K++ viewers. IGN Can't just get that for free, even if their guys did the production. The planning and costs associated leading to the event must be paid. IGN also received hours of advertisement. I really hope IGN does the right thing.

They already said they would. The problem is there's more debt than there is money.

IPL can only legitimately pay for what was agreed PRIOR to this event. That means the remaining $7,000. If they pay anymore, that would be pure charity, and albeit a good gesture, it would also be something that may let Gus get away with what he did.
IGN has already stated they are looking to use the remaining $7,000 to fund what was supposed to be funded - i.e. forward it towards the tickets/hotels/salaries.

Yeah, 7K is what I meant. I hope they just pay in a timely manner. That's cool then.

Then at the event all the shady stuff come out IPL felt they can't trust gus anymore. They are trying to help them. IPL are not the only sponor. PLEASE DON'T SUPPORT SCUMBAG LIKE GUS.

It's important to reiterate the fact that IPL is withholding the remaining $7k not because of shoddy product, but to ensure that it will not go missing like how rest of the budget. Remember, IPL already advanced $7k before the event, and they're not the only sponsor for PPSL. This $7k is the lifeline Clive, Amanda, and many others will be counting on if Gus falls through his promises and did indeed scammed a majority of the budget.
I will tell you right now, this type of move was true grace from IPL & David Ting. You don't offer this move lightly except in last resort scenarios, especially in a major company. Not only it shifts the payment workload from the organizer to the sponsor, but also is an accounting nightmare. The difficulty and paperwork involved to suddenly try to process a dozen new payouts to individual parties are not trivial when you are dealing with a regular by-the-book accounting department. It's significant enough deterent that I suspect David Ting may end up paying these debts out of pocket. Just to avoid the hassle with Accounting.
Completely foreign to IPL, so this is purely speculation from what I understand about the Corporate world. IPL & David Ting is the knight in the shining armour here, appreciate the shit out of what he's doing for Philippine StarCraft despite all these bull. He bet a ridiculus amount of money at your scene and only get heartache in return. Yet he still is looking out for the "little guys" amount you.
Don't even dare implying any guilt against them, Buruguduy.

They've been more than reasonable with everything from start to end, living up to every promise. Suddenly a ton of extra cost occurs and you expect them to foot those additional bills too? That's not how the real world works. Your mistake, your problem. IGN does not have to do a thing more than what they're already doing.

The way you said it is wrong and is like telling IGN do this and do that because of so and so.
Technically, if there is a breach of contract, IGN shouldn't be held accountable for anything really but they have already come forth and said that the remaining 7k of the agreed upon sponsorship money will be used to pay off some of the debt, problem is, it is more than 7k and we don't know what the total really is.
They actually went out of their way to convey tell people how much they committed to Gus/PPSL for transparency's sake to clear the air. Problem now is, Gus is a no show and is avoiding all avenues to pay or just communicate to the public.
