David Ting gave a statement saying IPL still owed 50 % of the of the money to PPSL and said he would directly reimburse the hurt parties or something along those lines and wouldnt release the money to PPSL until everything is cleared up. So maybe the money for Amanda and the other guy stuck in the hotel is the money that needs to come from IPL and there is still a high chance of them getting paid. Just speculating IPL to the rescue!!
I'm not sure if the hotel/flights accommodations were part of their agreement, and I'm guessing they'd help Clive and Amanda if they knew this was happening to them. From what I know, these arrangements should have been handled by Gus and whoever was helping him finance the event within his organization (AZK).

The way I see it, Gus is probably one of those dudes who had a bad childhood and is now trying to act all cool/tough/whatever but just fails. Pathetic, it's like he cannot see the consequences to his actions. I agree with the guy who said that a work of a true (or just someone with bad intentions) con man would NOT look like this.
Edit: The apology was just... wtf. Sure enough, he thought about that long and hard but see, LOL. His way of doing things is just wrong.

Okay, I knew this would be filled with vitriol and hate mongering...but implications of bodily harm? Outright accusations that he might bring "muscle" to intimidate Gunrun? Are you guys serious?
I mean, Gus went full retard. There's no doubting that. He probably won't get another job anytime soon being an event organizer. Worker behind the scenes, sure, but he probs won't get any kind of serious responsibility. Gus completely mishandled the situation, left people up for thousands of dollars, and screwed over players in what seriously looks like match-fixing for his team. I'm always against people just throwing out "X threw the game" or "Match fixing!" in the Live Reply threads because people never have any evidence, but c'mon. He refused to pay for Cube's plane tickets and AZK players just happened to get walk overs because of it? Lolol.
But come on guys. At least don't encourage the guy that is serious about hurting Gus. People say that this thread shows that the SC2 community is getting more legit. It's not if we actually encourage outrageous and over-exaggerated responses. Anger, sure. Resentment, absolutely. But everyone knows where the line is.

hi guys this is my first TL post, i made this account so that i can comment, as a Filipino residing here, i cancelled my work so that i could attend the first day, and be supportive of the E-sports scene that we all love and enjoy.
i was literally rushing to get to the venue because i didn't want to be late! lo and be hold i was more than early make that ~6hours early =( what a waste of time, precious working hours wasted. we all know about the technical difficulties that could have been avoided with adequate planning and event trouble shooting.
im really thankful for all the unsung heroes who worked frantically behind the scenes to pick up the pieces of the train wreck which was day 1.
i just hope that the e-sports community stand by the Philippines and those who want to promote e-sports in general. Hopefully this doesn't define the e-sports scene here, because we have great organizers e.g. Mineski and KtgameOne, i know we will pull through this mess. my prayers to those who need help right now

I wanted to be fair to the guy, and I'm still holding off my side and give him a chance to fix at least half of the damage he's done.
I'm one of the parties concerned with all this mishap and I have my own story as well.

What the crap did he do to you? Hopefully it wasn't as bad as some of the stuff he dropped the ball on.

If you're referring to WilliamNikhe's post, no it's not about hurting the guy. StarcraftPH won't stoop down to that level.
We'll do more harm to the community if we do just that.

So English isn't your first language but your grammar is superior to the majority of English speakers. The fuck man?

Most Asian countries are strict on English grammar It's how they learn English normally. I talk with less proper grammar to my Filipino cousins all the time and they correct me. It's kind of embarrassing sometimes ^-^''

Hey psyq. Like you, I also am holding off my stories. Gus had bad decisions waaaaaaaaaaaay before this ppsl. But I think the public has enough fuel already :/

I have spoken to Gus about the matter and I am glad to say that he has apologised for his actions. He has given me my word that I will be compensated at a sum of $1600AU, which was the estimated cost of the flight by next year February 15th. The reason for this is because he will be dealing with all the other financial issues at hand which is currently happening in the Philippines as you guys probably have heard of share my disappointment.

I am grateful for all of those that have supported me in the past few days; I remember every one of you that have spoken out, messaged me personally, and have even apologised for something their country has done (which I have replied this matter has nothing to do with the Philippines). To these people I would like to say I am indebted to you, as I have felt the community unite and speak out with and for me.
Gus's actions will tell me if he has accepted responsibility. In the next few days, if Gus keeps his word and attends to those that have been affected by the management, then he has my forgiveness. I have made many mistakes myself and have been grateful for loving friends and family that have constantly forgiven my mistakes. By no means does this mean I have forgiven him now; actions speak louder than words. However, if he does do what a reasonable person does to fix his mistakes, who are we not to forgive? I cannot force you to follow me into accepting Gus back into e-Sports, as you have the right to your opinion. Yet it is my solid belief that if he pays for his wrongs, then we as a community must forgive him.
Kind Regards,
YoonYJ

There are so many rules of grammar that native speakers of English don't realize are actually rules; in fact, we break them all the time. Don't end a sentence with a preposition, you say? "Who are you going to prom with?" Oops... Don't split an infinitive? Captain Kirk's mission was "to boldly go where no man has gone before." Breaking two rules there (if you consider "before" to be a preposition as it is in many other languages). "Mike and me are going to the movies." RAAAAEG FACE You don't use "me" as a subject you fool!

Also, I got my pitchfork ready, let's get this show on the road.
Thanks for insulting all the people who've put in effort over the years to run national events and international qualifiers in SEA. We really shouldn't have bothered really
