Clearly you didn't read the original post since you completely missed the point of this topic.

I don't want to get too far off topic, but when was the last time an MLG was anywhere near as terrible as the PPSL. And yeah, that Sundance guy, not sure how he qualifies as scum.

I think IPL Pulled out of Sponsoring or wanting their name Branded on the Tournament PPSL Because of Gus's Repulsive actions.

Or they basically pulled the Plug on Streaming it through their Official Stream because of the Shady Dealings Gus had made.

Actually, IPL didn't pull out of sponsoring as they didn't want to punish the players for the actions of the main organizer (Gus) by pulling their prize money.

They did however, remove the access PPSL had to the IPL stream, so that IPL wouldn't be linked to the PPSL broadcast too much. Ironically though, the second day of PPSL broadcasting was reasonable (not MLG/IPL level production quality, but stuff was working at least), so the only major issue that remained is the shady actions of Gus.

Wtf, GSL America is the best tournament of all time. Of all time.

GSL America was a GOMTV tournament held at Blizzcon. I don't know if Sundance had a hand in it. However, the way in which he's worked to develop links with Korea and GOM deserves a lot of praise.

Sorry for that my mistake ; yes they just pulled the plug on the stream access to their Stream servers because of what had transpired...

I was in one of the 8 teams competing in the HoN tournament. We were told about the event 2 days prior to the event which already seemed shady considering it's a P100,000 prize pool and it was advertised so badly. We were also told to go early since it was scheduled only for the first day. Brackets were set up in a piece of paper, passed around the 'team leaders' and were told you go have lunch and be on standby.

Almost 7-8 hours later, we approached a staff member and asked to speak to the person in charge. Gus Ledesma was called in front of us and later explained that we might not be able to play HoN anymore on that day and just left without further explanation. We approached another staff member and asked as to why HoN can't even play the opening round of our single elimination bracket. He then told us that there was a problem with SC2 and that the PCs they ordered weren't up to par with that specifications they wanted especially the RAM. We asked to talk to Gus again but he continued to dodge us and even told us to talk to Rachel "Seltzer" Quirico even if she probably didn't have any idea what was happening about the HoN tournament.

Some of the HoN players started leaving since some have been there since the mall opened at 10 a.m. (It's already around 7 p.m. at this time. Some started arguing with staff members and still wanted to talk to Gus; he ended up leaving the scene and dodged us some more. We accepted the fact that we wouldn't be able to play on the first day and asked if they would be holding it for a second day. They simply replied with "We can't guarantee that. We might just hold it in a different venue and time". It all sounded shady for us that a tournament with that big of a prize money would be put off for a later date (What about sponsors and S2, who apparently gave out the money for HoN tournament?). We asked for a written contract from Gus Ledesma aka Boss but he never agreed to it.

Later on that night, people started voicing out their frustrations about their experience on the Team AZK Facebook site; it was deleted. There was no announcement about anything related to HoN for the second day of the PPSL. They even had the guts to invite a team like DuskBin.HoN to the event.

I thought HoN was the only one to get screwed over till I saw comments on the Team AZK fan site about how bad the tournament was for SC2 too. It just sucks because people in the Philippines have been waiting for an event like this and it was destroyed by Gus Ledesma.

Being both a HoN and SC2 players, I still enjoyed some of the matches. There was just too much downtime between them. Hopefully, this incident doesn't set us back too far in the eSports scene.

Can you keep us updated if anything happens with HoN? Or is that out of question, and S2 pretty much got f*cked over by one guy?

I think someone on site said the HoN tournament is still happening.

I dont think Gus is that dumb to actually think he can steal the prize money. But it definitely looks like he manipulated the air-fare money to get his own players flown in over other people.

YJY also had it detailed in his Forum Post.

Well, MLG has a nickname of GSL America (because of the exchange program) and some fans like to jokingly refer MLG with that name.

Because he was a Trusted Clan Leader/Member of Clan AZK Possibly a somewhat relevant/prominent member of the SEA Community.

But what happened was Fucking Shameful he betrayed everyone. IPL/IGN Could not of known that he would betray them and mis-use the funding like this. IPL/IGN Had sponsored it and put their trust in him to run/manage the Tournament.

Turns out they were Wrong the guy mis-used the Funding for his own Team AZK's Benefit and denied players flights who had qualified for the tournament in the qualifiers.

Those players being three players two being from Cube Phillipines Clan and YJY From Australia

Step 1: He established his name in the Philippines E-sports scene by making a team.

Step 2: Gain recognition by organizing small events and pulling it off

Step 3: Acquire talent from other countries

Step 4: With foundation, flood the message boards to get international attention

Step 5: Make friends from other organizing bodies

Step 6: Step 1-5 he was able to get IGN - IPL 3 qualifiers/ he was also a part in the PGF with mineski gaming

Step 7: Step 1-6, he used that to get a lot of sponsors

AZK never took part in PGF. Mineski and Rapture were the only organizations behind it.

Clearly TL hasn't learned its lesson about villifying people before giving them a chance to give their side of the story. It doesn't matter if you think he's 100% guilty, on principal you should give him his fair say before declaring him guilty. In both the EG/TSL and Major/Sixjax threads, people thought one party was 100% guilty until hearing the other side.

When these threads get so long the issue inevitably gets blown out of proportion and details get exaggerated left and right. At some point you have to ask the question whether some tournament in the Phililpines warrants all the attention and importance you are giving it.

I remember the Major/Sixjax threads. Major's 'side' of the story never changed the fact that he conducted himself in an unprofessional manner, he just gave 'excuses' for his conduct. The people who were siding Major were using the skewed, Sixjax is an evil, scam team, therefore Major had the right to act as a douche, forgetting that his conduct is a direct product of his character flaws and not related to how 'badly' he was treated by Sixjax.

The members of TL feel that he is guilty, based on concrete EVIDENCE, and until Gus says anything substantial that can prove himself innocent, he doesn't deserve a side of the story. It is obvious that he knows what's going on, as his team has been censoring the hate he's been getting since the start of this fiasco.

If you have nothing to contribute in this thread, you shoudn't post at all. You claim that this thread is of no importance, and we have too much time on our hands, yet you continue to post your, it's not important anyway nonsense. This tournament had an allstar line up of players from all over the world, a qualifier for a spot in IPL4. Surely it warrants some importance?

You and the other outraged people in this thread are clearly acting on the assumption that the targets of accusations are guilty until proven innocent. That assumption continues the precedent set by the EG/TSL, NASL/Korean SC2 Association and Major/Sixjax threads, which is that one side of a story is sufficient to crucify the other side. It's simply not a reasonable or productive way to approach these issues. Have some patience and wait for the dust to settle and all the facts to come to light before creating redundant threads and pretending to be the judge and jury. And you can't act like Gus's timeframe to respond has passed, and therefore he doesn't deserve to be heard. The real world doesn't operate at the pace of internet forum threads filled with outraged people who can post anonymously.

And for the record I'm contributing something very valuable to this thread, which is the voice of reason and patience.

Can you keep us updated if anything happens with HoN? Or is that out of question, and S2 pretty much got f*cked over by one guy?

I'm pretty much confused right now because I keep seeing people post about it pushing through the second day. It sounds so shady because the 8 teams know each other either personally or through everyday scrimming online. If it did push through, who were the competitors? I doubt it did and I doubt they would find time to resched. Hiding from the HoN players is hard enough, what more the SC2 community?

Although, I know there is a lawsuit in the works for false advertisement (not confirmed yet). I believe it will also be looked into by the local news (again, not confirmed). Those are the rumors so far but all very likely; he messed with the wrong set of people this time.

Not to be a white knight or anything, but Seltzer mentioned on the CSN stream chat that the HoN tourney will go on today. It was delayed yesterday due to the computer problems.

What do you think Gus Ledesma Aka (AZKwitchdok) Did with the HON Money

This is the reason we asked for a written contract that the games would push through. We didn't think the sponsors, may it be the local brands and/or S2, would've allowed the the tournament to not push through. They kept telling us that they can't guarantee us anything. They kept telling us that the HoN event was thrown at them and it felt like they pretty much didn't care about it. They invited teams 2 days before the event itself but with sponsors like Razer and NVIDIA and a huge local sponsor, Globe backing it we all decided to attend. Like I said, if the HoN tournament pushed through today, I doubt they found any competitors to play in it. Unless they release an official statement, we will always feel as if they pocketed the P100,000 allotted for the HoN tournament.

You know, all these things have got me thinking: Considering all he has done has looked very seedy and suspicious, how was this guy able to get so many sponsors?!

It would be so easy to get those sponsors by using the name of IGN/IPL and I think that's exactly how he got them to sponsor the PPSL. He just wasted a great opportunity. Now, local sponsors wouldn't care even about local eSports competitions because of this whole fiasco.

Redundant thread. People care way too much about Starcraft lol. Or maybe you guys just have too much time on your hands.

User was warned for this post

Saying this on a Starcraft forum is like pissing in a hornet's nest.

Having said this, hopefully S2 and IGN will get their investments back.
