Episode 1: Introduction to Competitive 2v2 with Axslav and Strifecro http://tv.esl.eu/de/#/de/vod/view/23427
Hey guys,
Rotterdam and I have been talking a lot about things within the SC2 community that don't get enough coverage, and have decided that competitive/high-level 2v2 is one of the most underrated discusion points in the scene.
To remedy that, we'll be kicking off a new series at ESL TV: 2vTuesdays.
Every Tuesday (and sometimes on other days too) we will be talking to top level 2v2 teams, playing practice games against professional players, and debunking the myths and strategies surrounding 2v2 play at a high level.
We will be premiering the show Saturday night (lol) at 23:59 CET/ 6PM EST and will be kicking off the series with, arguably, the strongest 2v2 pair in the world: EG's Axslav and Strifecro.
Again, the first show will be:
November 5th at 23:59 CET, 6PM EST at http://www.esl.tv
And we will be continuing the series on Tuesdays for the next couple of months.
See you guys there!

ÿou guys should get on Gamerleagues snute and richy best european 2v2 team!

Ooo, I like the past series you guys have done, and this one is quite interesting as well! 2v2s have been something that has interested me in the past and most of the information I know has been from Day[9]'s brief brush with it, so it will be exciting to see a weekly show dedicated to 2v2ing. Hopefully you guys can do a Mapmaking show as well as I'd love to have more and more custom 1v1 maps coming out more than one source!
|
|
hmmm i like all your shows but i wish you'd focus more on "normal" 1v1 instead of too many gimmicky things like map of the month and 2v2, grass is always greener was by far the best of your shows imo
|
wtf i am assuming bitter is drunk by that time, so it should be a great show

After reading this part i stopped..... You might as well pick some random 2v2 team on ladder. Axlaw and Strifecro aren't even strongest 2v2 on NA server. You should have gone with Catz and Drewbie (no 1 on NA)or go for broke... The fanatic 2v2 team (said to be the best) or empire's team (Aristeo + Kas)

Is Aristeo parterning with Kas full time? I just presumed Cubert was busy or something. Fnatic team did probably impress me the most when it came to synergy in the EGMC
Not too interested in 2s, but I'll tune in for Bitterdam <3
|
Cubert stoped playing SC2 from what i heard... Which is sad. Him and Aristeo were without doubt no1 2v2 team in the world.

Don't worry, we'll be talking to all the strong 2v2 teams around the community througout the life of the show. <3

Go for the danish AiSieesch and AiLilleKanin :D lillekanin = little rabbit
|
MrBitter but dont advertise them as the best in the world... They are decent but even in their own tournament EG masters they were 7-10.

I am so excited for this, 2v2 gets so little love and yet I think it can be far more entertaining and technical than 1v1 at the highest level. I also love that you can't just take 2 good players and have a 2v2 team that rules, July and Bomber are great players that during a recent showmatch made a terrible 2v2 team because they had no combined plan or unit synergy. I look forward to the inevitable Destiny + Minigun episode and hopefully one with the winners of PTSL season 2.

Should get getslamt on here, best random player and 2v2er ever, NA srsly tho. Plus he's cute. :D

Map of the Month isn't gimmicky, it's helping Starcraft 2 in a fundamental way.
Maps are way underrated in balance discussions and supporting the mapmaking community to have good maps and map pools in the future is essential! I'm glad ESL realized that (as Blizzard, TL, NASL and IPL do now, too).

I know there are already a lot of comments about the StrifeCro + AxSlav team "best in world"... but seriously LOL. I'd say ProTech and ANY of his 2v2 partners could easily wipe them.
Just because these people are pro 1v1 and spend a bit of time playing 2v2 doesn't make them top level 2v2 competetors... True top level 2v2 players are just that... top level 2v2 players. I believe Millenium or something signed a pro 2v2 team to their roster for solely 2v2 matches for tourneys like EGMC.
If you are going to be discussing world class 2v2, don't interview your run-of-the-mill 1v1 pro's that form a 2v2 team with a buddy... interview ACTUAL 2v2 pro's.... there are quite a few of them around.
This is a good idea, but it needs a bit of polishing in regards to who is being brought in to speak on behalf of the 2v2 community.

well axslav and strifecro were an awesome 2on2 team in wc3 and they still play 2on2 in SC2 so i wouldnt call them 2 1on1 players playing together
|
I'd like to see Aristeo & Cubert
|
cool idea Bitters! I'd love to see me some top level 2v2's!

2vTuesdays on Saturday, okay, cool ;P
XD
|
crusader and micky all the way. rank 5 global 2v2 and they poop on teams like Ai hehe
|
Sounds good. The ladder map pool for 2v2s is really quite bad though.
|
Wow, thats great! I love 2v2s
|
I'm actually looking forward to this! And sort of regretting quitting 2v2, used to be #2 RT in the world for like a month... Definitely can't wait to see those European 2v2 players, they are the best. Some NA 2v2 players you should talk to are tQorGETSLAMT and FXOptikzero, both top of NA ladder 2v2 and GM 1v1.

can we have a random picture of rotterdam on the initial post?

I think MrBitter is an asshole.

AxCro don't practice 2v2 really at all aside from tournaments, they're both exclusively full-time 1v1 players with the 2v2 background in WC3, so it'll be interesting to hear their take on things.
Teams I'd like to see on:
Fnatic coL Empire (cubert is inactive, right?)

Ah! There you guys are. Cool cool.

No mention of Powertech?
I think the fact that they are both non-grandmasters 1v1 and are still one of the highest tier 2v2 teams there are speaks to their knowledge of 2v2... as some people such as myself would say much of 2v2 comes down to tactics, being able to macro is nice but it isn't as important.
|
Power is a grandmaster random player. Hearing protech talk strategy is one of the most painful things you will ever witness. He'll go on about a 6 pool like it's some intricate build that required tons of thought for him to "implement" in to his repertoire.

I'd like to point out something which you yourself inserted into ProTech's stream thread.

I like 2v2, but I think the 2v2 map pool is horrible. Why do every single map have to be shared bases?? I remember in SC1 were 2v2 was about map control and to try to attack the enemy team in a 2v1 position as they moved out or when they tried to merge their armies tohether. That is completely gone now when they share ramp. 2v2 in sc2 has become much more static

it's not possible to hold 1on2 in starcraft 2 so you would see a ton of z doing 10 pool and building zergling only as soon as the pool is up until the end of the game.
i didn't play enough 2on2 in bw so i can't tell you why it worked? for bw, in sc2 non shared bases maps are not working

great so people discussing about 2v2? who does the better all in? what all in is the best all in? what all in is popular now? how can you improve your all ins so they cant be stopped?

Thanks for the VOD Cool first episode, glad to see some 2v2 content with decent production and some perspective from "team killem"
As a member of a PZ team, it was validating to watch another team figure out vTZ and come to some of the same conclusions or get advice that we've found true from experience, like how much of a gamble static defense can be in this format and how that leads to more micro-intensive games
When you play against the audience in future episodes, will it only be on EU?
|
Hi AiSieesch here i love that you do more 2v2 related stuff,i just recently made a guide about that which may help you to figure out 2v2 specifis.
no offence to big names like catz+drewbie or strifecro and +axslav but i think there are at least 10 better 2v2 teams most of them at europe but also some on Na:
you should think about: Eu: Richy+Snute (PZ) Cast+Surrey(PT) Executer+Iezal(TZ) Killver+Stoic(PT) Kara+Delphi(PZ) Timind+Narcotic(TZ) Crusader+Mickey(TZ) RAZERservoya+RAZERds(TT) or just me and Lillekanin (TZ)
NA: Power+Protech (Z+Rnd) Mystix+Illusive (PZ) Azide+Superninja(PP)

is there going to be more episodes of this (or other 2v2 focussed projects?)
