Have any of you considered the possibility that these casters might have asked NASL if they can cast? Or, they were attending anyway and NASL wanted to make use of them? Or that they're not there to cast but also do other things (I think Orb said GunRun is MCing)?

Seriously, the NASL hate is getting really depressing. At least last season there were somewhat legitimate reasons. But now, they've 1) fixed the prize pool, 2) fixed the format, 3) added a caster lineup to address caster complaints this season...

And rather than saying, "Good job NASL" people go, "OMFG WTF TOO MANY CASTERS"

SMH.

While people complaining about a lot of casters is ridiculous, given that there's no actual downside for us, I do think it's fair to think it's pretty weird, to have 9 casters in a 16-man single elimination tournament. Questioning is fine, complaining isn't.

Agreed, in my post 2 pages back i wasnt complaining about the casters per se, i was more commenting on orbs comparison to how many casters MLG had compared to NASL. I just dont think any comparisons should be drawn from an event with easily 10x as many games, its not like MLG was really subbing in and out casters for matches, they had all the casters casting concurrently so that they could cast the vast amount of games. Which is far different from having 9 casters covering 1 stream. Gunrun MC'ing i think would be a mistake he has a very soft raspy voice, someone like anna prosser or incontrol even ( i dunno anyone really lol) would be much better IMO.

Also I think its important for the viewers to develop a rapport with casters over the course of the event and its nice when casters can bring up earlier comments they made on a players (who has advanced) and build on that , it can help develop a storyline for a player advancing through the tournament in a much smoother way. It just doesnt really make too much sense to me to have so many casters for so few games.

Not to mention alot of people have gripes with some of the less well known casters , i know you can never please everybody but having the NASL's main casters Gretorp and Orb (im not really a fan but having them cast is a given) along with 1 other group of popular casters such as bitterdam or Day 9 Dj wheat, would appease a very wide audience. Casters are very very important in esports right now (more so then the players really) and audience members can easily be turned off by casters tthey dont like to the point that they wont watch the event. For instance for me, if say Day 9 and DJ wheat casted the NASL on a regular basis (probably not possible but regardless) i would be much more inclined to tune in. Last season (when i bought a pass for NASL) i couldnt stand gretorp's casting and i still cant so much so that I wont tune in to NASL especially when there is so many other events going on weekly with casters that i prefer. Ive heard alot of complaints about gretorp in particular and i wouldnt be surprised if replacing him with a well known casters significantly increased regular season viewership for NASL.

I've already explained the reason for multiple casters.

Other tournaments have casters who cast 10-12 hours per day. Believe it or not, casters do not generally enjoy this. Therefore -- we have enough casters to keep the amount of casting per day at a manageable level. This way, our casters are not overworked, they are happy, and their casts will reflect this.

As much as I'm sure everyone would like to see Day9 cast 10 hours each day over the finals weekend... it's about what's best for THEIR working conditions. We want happy casters and happy players and happy spectators. We hope that the system we have will be able to maximize the balance between these three factors!

Thanks for your concern everyone <3

I think that is a cop out answer why go to the extreme and talk about a having 1 caster do the whole thing. If you have 1 stream and its only 10 hours a day why would you have more than 2 teams of casters? at the most 3 and definitely not 9 people. From a spectators perspective, it lowers the connection I get with the casters throughout the tournament and for me I like consistency.

You're saying this while not having any idea how we're planning on using the 9 casters, what activities we're going to do, or anything of the sort.

At first I was little depressed about the lack of Koreans playing but I think some of the foreigners playing here are on that level anyway.

I'm honestly extremely pumped to see demuslim/morrow/sen back on the big stage again, seems like it's been so long. I don't even need to mention we got puma, hero, idra and huk.

I see no reason to whine about the amout of casters showing up. After all, more casters automatically mean less Gretorp casting, right?

Clearly you are ruining ESPORTS by having too many casters.

single elimination is my favourite format to watch, i realy dont like this double elimination stuff, where the upper winner wins like 90% just to have 32507 more games, quality > quantity.
great that u guys learned from ur first event and went for bo5 instead of bo3 though.

would be great to have multiple streams/casters for the finals like mlg - while i understand that orb and gretorb earned the right to cast the finals over the regular season, i have to say for my self that i would prefer other casters which would be at the event a little bit more.

I think almost everyone will be pleased by the rotation of casters/games/etc .

Man, every time I step into an NASL thread I just have to sigh at how much this league/tourney seems to bring out so many of the petulant children here. The amount of money that NASL pours into the industry alone is enough to justify its existence, the pay and exposure that some of the less known players and casters get is creating (hopefully) sustainable full-time e-sports positions in the USA, something that I think we're all looking for.

I'm not sure what this league did to deserve this level of entitled bitchyness being thrown at them, but maybe if they just keep putting out as solid of a product as they did the first time, and so far this time, it will eventually go away.

Hey guys. Another player has guaranteed himself a spot in the Grand Finals: The winner of Kiwikaki vs Morrow!

Winner: + Show Spoiler +
MouzMorroW

Both had a shot at the Grand Finals invite. Their series was incredible and definitely worth catching on the VOD's.

gretorp is the troll guarding the bridge to my esports happiness. I want to watch NASL sooo bad but every time I tune in, there is gretorp.
Someone needs to tell the truth, but it shouldn't be my job.
