Holy hell. I saw something about this earlier, but I didn't think it was anything near this scale. Having IGN behind this after the amazing job they've done with IPL makes me super happy in the pantaloons. If I have faith in anyone to provide the quality required to draw in new people it's them. This is 1000 times better than sc2 on television, in my opinion. The target audience is I think more likely to be browsing youtube than flipping channels now anyways.

I still don't really like IGN becoming central to e-sports because to me they've always been emblematic of a gameing media that offers no real reviews or criticisms of the industry but just acts as a mouthpiece for teh bigest companies. Still, if they do right by e-sports I'll support them.

This might actually be better than it going on TV imo. Just by the nature of how online content works, there are some definite upsides like the content not being limited to a time segment, and the fact that most people who will click on the video will at least be somewhat curious, rather than bumping into it on a channel they typically watch, and hating it since it isn't a "sport."

Great news for the community. YouTube sponsorship of one of the greatest tournaments I've ever seen (IPL3 was crazy!) means more great games and production quality for everyone.
