First i didnt see the sarcasm, and i thought you were just retarded, but then i realised what you mean. As far as i know, totalbiscuit isnt employed by them, he has only done some casting for them, the rest of their casters are just boring, painuser, catspajamas, HD... Im not bashing, but if i put myself in a person that has no idea what starcraft is shoes, and the first thing i see is painuser and catspajamas casting, i think i would just turn it off immediately. On the other hand, if i saw day9 and husky, or tastosis, i would be hooked by the simple fact of the awesome people commentating, and thus, have an increased chance of getting hooked to the game itself. Again, i mean no disrespect to the casters mentioned, its just how i see it.

K9 would be a good casting duo too. I know that these guys obviously aren't employed by IGN, but it would be cool to see them brought on as guests sometimes. When possible. IPL online stuff is mostly casted from VODS anyway, so it would be logistically possible.

HD has what, 400k~? and we're all talking about being worried about the IGN casters? Youtube is where they got famous and you guys are stressing about them doing well on a YOUTUBE channel? Casters like HD have been broadcasting to the mainstream world since SC2 came out - how do you people think they got involved in the scene? Catspajamas and Painuser are just as good as HD or Husky as well. Casters won't be a problem my friends.

And yeah I think for the most part the casters are fine and dandy from IPL. I'm not a huge fan of HD's style, but they tend to be a good bit smoother than the casting of something like NASL. Their styles seem to flow better for me, so as not to interrupt watching the game with awkward phrasing/casting moments and such. Sure, Artosis/Tasteless/Day9 would be amazing, but they can't be everywhere.

The problem I have, however, is that they definitely do not do do a great job of displaying the strategic depth of the game, and as such, can prevent people from delving any deeper into the game than the IPL

While some people will never "delve" into the strategic depth of the game, others eventualy will. What level people enjoy SC2 on and what events they watch shouldnt concern anyone, only that they are watching.

This is the most subscribed channel on YouTube, RayWilliamJohnson. 4,949,692 accounts subscribe to this crap. And I'm not even kidding here. Nearly all of his videos are him taking random clips from the internet, and regurgitating them into a several minute video format where he's like "HEY GUISE, YOU WANT TO SEE THIS REALLY FUNNY VIDEO OF A GRANNY FALLING OVER? YOU KNOW YOU WANNA!!!!" and similar crappy one-liners. In fact, the only remotely bearable thing RayWJ has ever done was Your Favorite Martian, his cartoon band. The channel of which has ~30% of his subscribers, a total of 1,639,647. What about the 8th most subscribed to channel on YouTube, Fred. Because people love watching videos about an adolescent who has raised the pitch of his voice through editing software. And worse... was given his own fucking movie. I'm not bashing HD or Husky in any way, it's just that they were arguably first to the punch as far as SC2 content goes. The second probably being TotalBiscuit followed by the ex-BW casters and pros like Artosis, Moletrap, Diggity etc, and then the hundreds of copycats trying to make their name as casters. I don't think subscriber base is a very good sign that would hint how good of a commentator you are. Sure, if you got subscribers, you're not terrible, but that's all I think it says about HD and Husky. They're not terrible. They're very bearable and even good in ways. Plus arguably, they have done more for the community than more obscure casters have. HDH Invitational, HD World Tournament, hell.... even TotalBiscuit has done a fucktonne with his SHOUTcraft Invitationals. HD's made his name with IGN and Husky has casted for events like MLG and even TSL3. You could also argue that Husky has made good parodies (particularly Banelings and Void Rays, parodies of Baby and Friday respectively)
