Congrats IGN and eSports! Gotta say thanks to YouTube for seeing its potential too. IPL is a great showcase of what a lot of other major tournaments can be if eSports goes mainstream. MLG needs to be on there though!

So I don't really see why this is big news. YouTube "channels" have always just been collections of videos, right? I see why this is important in that YouTube is paying ign to make content (ipl, reality show, etc), but I don't see why this would change the viewership of esports - it's still only gonna be seen online by people who specifically seek it out. Am I missing something?

I guess the potential of putting this on digital tv's is kinda cool, but you could do that for any ordinary YouTube channel like hd's or husky's already. I guess what I'm asking is, how does this get esports more exposure or popularity than if the headline were "YouTube pays ign to make some more web videos about gaming?"

Also, I don't want to get involved in the caster discussion, but if I'm missing something and it will give things more exposure, it would be great to have them show like one match each day from gsl casted by tasteosis. Regardless of how people feel about the ipl casters, everyone loves tastosis.
