Getting basement dwelling nerds to go to a games convention is one thing, getting them to go to a bar afterwards is... pretty difficult. I hope however that some of you (and me too if something actually happened in australia) will take the leap and go and socialise with people who also enjoy your passion! You realize that Blizzcon usually sells out within minutes after being available. Also barcrafts has been successful for events like MLG and IPL. I'm sure attendance is not the issue

This doesn't prove true anymore. IPL3 had SC2 gamers all over the bars. The stereotype is getting old and if you keep reinforcing it like that you're just perpetuating the stereotype that gamers have to all be socially awkward.

Yeah I completely agree...Gamers will always be "nerdy" but that doesn't mean we're hiding out in the dark like vampires. I personally have a job, school, a girlfriend, and I work out..all the while making my rise on the SC2 ladder with at least 6 hours of practice a day.
