Enjoy information of the new units guys

"We just created it. It's rather gimmicky, but we felt protoss didn't have enough harass."

"It's a "void infuser". It basically supercharges one unit for 10 seconds and doubles the attack power/attack speed. It's like a protoss medivac, minus the healing, that gives it's own version of stim to any protoss unit."

"Also, while I'm here, I might as well reveal the other units. The zerg unit revealed is a "Techalisk" which is a lurker-esque creature that absorbed a science vessel onto it's back. It can irradiate Terran and protoss organic units, generate an organic force field around other units, and spew a gunk which is like a bio stasis on casters. It'll cost at least 300 gas, since it's such a good unit. We're working on it though."

"The Terran unit is a reworked reaper. Our devs said we needed to work the reaper over and this was the best solution. He's now a "Greaper" which you could consider as an improved reaper. He retains his ability to climb up cliffs, but now he gets a combat shield+dual rifles like marines and the old reaper, but he can switch between that and a hellion like flame thrower for splash. It's basically a unit that can change it's attack method. We prefer to think of it like a siege tank."

Do you really now compare marines with Phönix? MM cast for themselves the phönix cast his spell to an enemy unit .. so yes one could say it´s a spellcaster

While the pheonix does have a spell, I consider its roll to be for harassment. It certainly does not have the "Spellcaster" role that a Raven, Infestor, or HT have.

For example, just because medivacs can heal, or banshees can cloak doesnt classify them them as spellcasters.

Medivac would be more appropriately classified as support/transport and banshee is harass.



Woh, man! stop right there--the Phoenix is, as blizz says: 'An air-superiority fighter' which means that it's main function is control of the skies. it takes too many of them to really effectively harass. Not the same as harassing with Mutas, or Banshee/hellion/marine drops.

Also, not really a spellcaster, either. sure, it has a function, but blizz gave that skill so that the phoenix would actually be built. Could you imagine if the phoenix couldn't lift units? Who would use it?!

Whatever this unit is, you can be sure as shit it is going to cost a lot of gas

It will likely make air-openings stronger, but not by a significant margin as whatever this unit will be will cut into the void/phenoix count

I play protoss, but whatever it is, if I void-infuse a colosus to do 300 potential damage per shot that is ridiculous... like we're talking planetary fortress with infinite repair ridiculous...

edit.. k you got me. i only read the protoss one before responding. blizzard is weird sometimes so i figured it was plausible.

terran and zerg explanations tipped me off

In all seriousness... I bet its an air-sentry... gaurdian shield... forcefields...

Making stargate -> expo openings more viable... Probably replaces the pheonix, and does less dps than then pheonix obviously. Perhaps further alterations to current sentry.

A 50 mineral air unit would be sweet... regardless of gas cost.

its the unit that is countered by the zerg baneling catapult something like an armored air unit that does bonus damage to the totally imba baneling catapult

terran will get crushed with this boring new unit in comparison to the protoss and zerg one

If this makes a phoenix a spellcaster I would call blink-stalkers spellcasters as well.
Maybe you could say that a spellcaster needs to have a spell that doesnt target (EMP/fungal/storm), and/or have at least two spells.

Looks like insted of picking up units one-bye-one like with the pheonix. This unit will be picking up several at the same time, and be able to fly them around in the little vortex bubblebath in the middle :D

new protosss unit is goign to be like militia in wc3. Probes are gona run to nexus and put on claws and armor, gaining +2 armor +15hp and +4 damage to their attack.

I'm hoping for some kind of flying shield battery. Or some kind of caster unit that somehow counters EMP, or at least gives a fighting chance.

I'm inclined to think the new zerg unit is a good ground to air unit, built to counter the new stronger protoss air force.

I voted for ground harass because quite clearly, this is the new probe. I mean, look at it. It's basically built for mining minerals and carrying huge canisters of vespene. It's the Protoss mule is what it is. Not only that but it probably does 10 damage. Look at those giant particle beams.
