Today we are PROUD to announce that two of the best-known names in eSports are joining TwitchTV - we are happy to welcome Marcus "djWHEAT" Graham and James "2GD" Harding to the TwitchTV family! These guys are true ambassadors for the industry we so passionately support, and have each traveled far and wide to help realize the dream of Pro-Gaming. That's why we now welcome them to help guide us into the glorious eSports future! djWHEAT will now act as our eSports Manager, while 2gd will head up TwitchTV's presence in Europe.
Without further ado, let's hear it from the men themselves:
TwitchTV Expands Team with Competitive Gaming Heavyweights Marcus “djWHEAT” Graham and James “2GD” Harding
World-renowned pro gamers to continue building affinity within the global eSports community as part of TwitchTV business development team
San Francisco, CA – October 12, 2011 – TwitchTV, the world’s largest video game broadcasting community, today announced two key hires from the eSports community: Marcus “djWHEAT” Graham and James “2GD” Harding. These professional gaming luminaries have extensive experience as players, managers, moderators and more in the gaming industry. They will collectively strengthen TwitchTV’s impact on the live video game streaming industry.
Marcus “djWHEAT” Graham is a prolific member of the Global Pro-Gaming community, where he got his start as a competitor. For over 12 years, he has acted as a game broadcaster, league ambassador, and industry consultant for some of the world’s largest professional video game organizations and supporting brands.
Mr. Graham has traveled to over 20 countries during his involvement with professional gaming and is known for producing the world’s first daily live video game show on the Internet, Epileptic Gaming. He currently hosts content on TwitchTV’s OneMoreGame.TV, which provides live streaming entertainment to gamers around the world as one of the largest eSports related channels. Prior to OneMoreGame.TV, he created eSports and video game content for several high-profile companies including DirecTV, Dish Network, Samsung, and G4TV.
As the new eSports manager for TwitchTV, Mr. Graham will be responsible for managing relationships and business development with the world’s leading eSports personalities, leagues, tournaments and other organizations.
James “2GD” Harding is a high profile main-stay in European eSports. With over 12 years in the industry, Harding has proven his dedication to eSports with his roles as professional gamer on multiple titles, general manager of Fnatic, Host and commentator for Turtle Entertainment (ESL TV), eSport manager and competitive feature designer at FUNCOM for Bloodline Champions.
In his new role, James will be leading up TwitchTV’s new European branch based in Stockholm, Sweden. Harding’s invaluable experience in product design, team management, marketing, event organization and unique influential celebrity profile is a welcomed addition to the TwitchTV family.
I was waiting for this thread to pop out (i was planning on making one myself ^_^)
This is definitely amazing news and i thin there isn't better persons than DjWheat and 2GD for this. Congratulations for both and TwitchTV. It looks like this is one of those dream jobs!
To DjWheat: Keep kicking ass, you especially deserve this! love your shows! (and bring Epileptic gaming back)
Did djWHEAT quit his regular job? It seems to me like he kind of has to considering the amount of work he puts into all of the shows based off the Onemoregame platform, also doing this would seem insurmountable considering he has a family to spend time with.
Regardless, very happy for this, both of them are pretty much as good you can get for these positions for Twitch.tv, congratulations.
Congrats to them both, after reading DJWheat's blog about his average day being in the IT field (and doing all his shows on top of working full time) I think all his work in Esports has finally paid off.
It has to be a dream come true, and DJWheat deserves it so much. Thanks for everything you've done for the community
Congrats to both its good to see that wheat can finally do what hes passionate about and get paid to do it instead of having to do it on the side. The effort he puts in is inspiring congrats again.
I can't think of a person more deserving to have a full job within eSports than djwheat. After reading this blog I was very sad, and hoped that wheat could one day become a full-time eSports guy.
This is great. I'm so happy for Wheat after reading his blog about his daily routine and how much he wanted to have a stable esports-related job. Well, congratz. Also congratulations to 2gd, hope to see more of him.

Agree with this. It's always exciting when a progamer gets picked up by a new team, but DjWheat deserves to go full time just as much, and now he's being given the opportunity! Congrats man, live the dream.
Congrats djWHEAT - no need for a "normal" job anymore, full time eSports. Sounds like your dream came true, and there's no one out there that deserves it more than you.
Gratz to both guys for their new gigs! And to Twitch for picking up these guys!
Nitpicking: DjWheat, it's great you've been pushing eSports from the start, but i hope you won't be there 'til the end, because i hope eSports will continue to prosper after your light fades. A legacy to be proud off, for sure.

I have quit my day job. I hope my confidence in Twitch.tv is an indication at just how much I believe in this company. My family means the world to me, so these decisions aren't made lightly. My wife is fully supportive and she thinks it's right up my alley. That helps a lot as well.

Great news indeed Wheat <3 Good luck with everything!
I make my first post on the subject and it's closed from the threads cause I was an hour late . Wheat I am thrilled by the news and am so happy that you are the one who will lead Twitch.tv E-sports division to an even greater future. Keep it up, we are all behind you!
Also curious about his insistence on Bloodlines. Not sure what to think about it, but if he can get it started more with this job it seems like it could have potential. Just... freemium, ugh.

About god damn time he got to go full time esports then.

I am happy your work has paid off. Here's to many years to come! I wish you the best of success- because being completely selfish, I couldn't imagine a day without my dose of WHEAT anymore.
dude wheat deserves this position more than anyone else in the esports universe
he's had his heart in it since the days of antiquity where commentating was called shoutcasting for some reason i never quite figured out, and quake 3 was the only e-sports game that existed, and he never did it for the money, he did it because he just fucking loves the competition, i seriously doubt 95% of his early work he got paid a cent
some people are in this business for all the right reasons and wheat is one of those people
I'm definitely excited about this, especially for djWheat. He is so passionate about esports and I'm super glad that he can finally pursue his passion fulltime!

Well said, I remember listening to wheat 3 years ago and he would always be working his nine to five job and said his goal is to be able to work in eSports for a living, congratulations!
I believe this to be a momentous day as DJ Wheat in my opinion is the MOST passionate person in competitive gaming/e-sports/community/content creation blah blah blah etc.
I have such respect for him and the time he has invested... OVER A DECADE PEOPLE...
He puts his all into this community, bringing us content day after day, giving up his own family time for the sake of growing e-sports to his own vision that i'm sure was started when a lot of the TL users were barely old enough to read. Now the man himself is going to lead Twitch.tv to even greater heights! What his direction is or where it will take "us" is yet to be seen, but I believe it will be an amazing ride and journey that will fast forward the growth of E-Sports as a whole.
At the rate things are going I am almost frightened, but in a good way of course. We have F-Slasher bringing us so much content on a daily basis which is indicative of the amount of content there is to talk about (which is why he started his show).
There's LO3/STOG/ISTG/IGN/MLG/Dreamhacks/Playhem/Day9/ESVDIAMOND/GSL/Loads of smaller tourneys and much much more.
So I guess to sum this up, I have to thank Twitch.tv for picking the right man for the job. Justin Kan for being so dedicated in the first place and growing the streaming aspect of E-sports to the level it has become today.
TwitchTV deserves a lot of love. Ever since the sc2 release, they've done more and more and more and more to help their platform cater to gamers. Hell, even before SC2 they still had a BW tournament sponsored by JTV.
This is such a great announcement. 2 legendary icons in the esports scene. Been here since the beginning and have been covering every single esport game. djWHEAT even tried out to cast LoL which was hilarious. But congratz to both of them, amazing people.
Yeah, nice and all. But making the image look like youtube video is pretty retarded way to get page views . Oh, it's actually screenshot of the site. Still, why not post the vids here?
WHEAAAAAT!!<3 I can't tell you how much I'm excited that you get to do what you love full time and I wish you and your family all the best.If anyone deserves success its definitely you. Going from this http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/895804 , to the point you are right now is dam amazing and I can only hope you keep up the good work, you'll have my loyalty as a fan until esports is successfully executed.
Will Twitch work better in EU in the near future? I've heard alot of people, including myself, having some stutter issues with the streams. Not alot but sometimes!
Does anyone here think that the Twitch.tv guy should get a special icon, kind of like the IGN guys or the MLG guys? Just so we know that it's legitimately Twitch.tv ^_^
Congratulations to both, especially Wheat, it's great that he's getting to do something he's so passionate about for a living.
I've got some major problems with Twitch.TV and unfortunately until those issues are resolved I cannot support them. None of the problems have anything to do with eSports so this announcement does very little to get rid of my concerns that their staff are freely using personal data from the site for non work related things (gotten numerous requests via email from one of their members of staff, my complaint on the matter was ignored) and much more other than that. Hopefully they actually have the professionalism within the company to not have this backfire and hurt Wheat and 2GD.
Best of luck to both of them and I hope it works out.
Congrats Wheat! As one Thirtysomething, Married with Children, to another, I'm so glad you're able to make eSports your full time job instead of pushing papers for The Man! :-)
nice to see casters and people who are very active in the community getting a full time job in e-sports
thats how e-sports is gonna grow thats how it will have to be for the progamers too if e-sports wants to reach the next level and if we can reach that e-sports will be a way to live your life and become waaaaaay more popular that way
Way to go Twitch.tv! You guys have been kicking ass ever since you recognized the awesomeness that is Day9 and lured him away from Ustream.
As far as I'm concerned, internet streaming is synonymous with twitch/justin.tv.
I understand that djWheat will be somewhat of a middleman between tournaments and twitch, but I'm a little confused about 2GD. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy as a tournament host and I know he's been in the esports industry for years, I'm just not sure what he could do for twitch.tv specifically. PR stuff?

James knows pretty much everyone in the industry, and will be heading up our EU operations.
One question: I know a lot of people have been wondering about Europe not having shows similar to what America produces in shows like State of the Game, Inside the Game, Live on Three etc... Will we be seeing any additional shows from either of these 2 guys? I know Wheat already has a lot of shows going at the moment, but as far as I am aware, Europe doesn't really have any set in stone discussion programmes. Would be awesome if 2GD set up a european based show (perhaps with a panel?) to help add to the growth of starcraft and esports in general.
2GD needs to be involved in every SC2 event, hes the most dynamic and fun host ive seen involved in SC2. Anything that makes him a bigger player in the community is great. Great to see good things happening for Wheat too :D
Oh and by the way. Love how Wheat has produced a montage of himself, whilst 2GD just has his webcam set up whilst drinking alcohol. True British spirit! LOVE IT
Perhaps they should work on the unstable/laggy performance that some Europeans seem to get from jtv/twitch.tv... Dreamhack Valencia was down right unwatchable at times... (Oslo, Norway)
And before the US/Germans people start the good 'ol "its your fault"-debate, well... it isn't. Let's just leave it at that.
Congrats djWHEAT!!! Since my introduction to eSports, I've acknowledge your immense passion for eSports and this new opportunity is well deserved!! Grats to 2GD as well. I'd like to try some whiskey some time...

That was because of some sort of glitch specific to the Dreamhack Valencia broadcast, R1CH found the problem and they fixed it.
I was so happy when I heard a few weeks ago (I think on Kings of Tin) that Wheat had given his 2 weeks notice at his old day job. I thought something like this might be coming. This is so great for all of e-sports, not just SCII.
I was iffy on djWHEAT at first (see: you know SC2 is your first eSport when... thread) but he has become one of the premier figures I look forward to seeing casting events and producing content. Onemoregame.tv is always entertaining quite apart from being the pioneering provider of regular and consistent eSports programming, and this guy totally deserves recognition!
More details regarding Wheat and 2GD joining Twitch will be put out tonight on Live On Three in 45 minutes from now (7 PM EST). Stephano and Ultradavid will be guests!
Very cool congrats DJWHEAT you have been working very hard in esports for a great job like this. I am glad to see this happening for you. I have been listening to u cast back in the days of Counterstrike. I hope you keep going and handling the busssnaassss :D GL my friend.
I love justin.tv and twitch.tv because they have always supported the community and I feel they have the best video streams. Another great move by them in a series of great moves.
Met 2GD at the Wild West Bar at IPL3 where he was discussing ESPORTS and such, and he took a look at my tag and said "Timothy Young (me) knows whats up" and tipped his drink to me. He had a wonderful sparkle in his eyes. Unforgettable.
Took the time to say hi to me every time we passed at the event, nice guy!
:D wooowwwww, congrats to you guys, u r awesome and I'm glad u have this kind of a role on esports now. I can't think of anyone better for this job and to take this huge responsibility on their shoulders

He is a real flirt
I saw him at IPL3...he was pretty seriously smashed >_>
I'm ok with the scene being very relaxed (live on three with beers at ipl3, etc), but it seems pretty BM to make your introductory video sitting on a bed, smashed, drinking more whiskey. Maybe that's just me.

that video was a perfect introduction to 2gd. he is not super professionally boring. he is himself. he is hilarious and easy going. he does his own thing and it's brilliant.
frankly 2gd is the only caster i've been watching lately because he doesn't completely kill his personality for a cast.
I think it's pretty clear how passionate these 2 are for the industry so this is pretty amazing news for both of them and TwitchTV looking forward to some great things in the future!
Wheat scored such an awesome gig. I'm glad his hard work has payed off. Now he has a job that not only will support his family, but let him do something he really likes. That must feel pretty sweet.
I don't understand what their jobs will actually be? Are they just going to be spokesmen? Because it's pretty hard to see what else they bring to the table other than their names.

Here's hoping :D Great news. Kudos to djWheat for finally being able to get out of his day job. Can't think of anyone who deserves something like this more.
I have a confession: I haven't posted on TL for . . . quite awhile. But this is definitely big enough for me to come back and make a post:
djWHEAT, I, uh, may have had some dust in my eyes as I watched your video. I know this is something you've been working towards your whole life and it must be a dream come true for you to be able to do it full time. Congratulations, man, you deserve it.
Congrats DJWheat! Long time fan and it's great to see that things keep working out for you. What you do is very inspiring and you have helped me shape my own life goals. Keep kicking ass my good sir!

Awesome news, congrats! (Took you long enough :p)
Also, congrats to Twitch.tv! This might be the first time I've seen a company hire an "e-sports manager" who actually knows what the fuck he's doing.
This is such awesome news for the both of them, and especially for djWHEAT.
I had the pleasure of meeting djWHEAT at PAX, and he invited me to chill with him at Barcraft, where we drank Nuclear Missiles and Jim Raynors and watched MLG live. It was several thousand degrees of awesome. I will never forget how amazingly welcoming and supportive and just downright cool djWHEAT was. This could not happen to a more deserving guy!
Congrats to both! Does this mean djWheat gets to quit his other job finally and do esports full time? If so that is so cool, and I'm really glad to see such a cool thing happen to a great guy.
A big congratulations to Marcus for pushing through on his dream until his career could reflect that, Im certain he is in heaven right now and I couldn't be happier for him
Twitch.tv couldn't have picked a more experienced person for the job in djWHEAT I think. I admit I don't know much about 2GD other than that he used to play Quake professionally, so I will defer to others' compliments on him.
When CGS went bankrupt my heart sank for Wheat. I have high hopes of success within Twitch.tv, however, so here's to a good future!
I'm really glad for DJWheat! A few weeks (months?) ago I was reading an article where djwheat said that all the time and effort he puts into esports isn't enough so that he can live out of it. So i'm really happy that finally he gets the opportunity!

it's not like WHEAT already runs Lo3 doing exactly that.... plus, a regular show with both WHEAT and 2GD seems rather unlikely due to timezones.
my point is, I'd rather see more people supporting Lo3, since it's being run for so long and really does a great job at covering the industry. OR bring back Epileptic Gaming for that matter

I agree. And to be honest, i think show with DjWheat & 2GD would turn into troll/bullshit fest pretty fast. But thats just my opinion.
Definitely bring back Epileptic Gaming if something or then keep supporting Lo3. They are doing amazing job covering E-sports.
Amazing! In 20 years we will look back at people like djwheat,day9 and husky... the list goes on. Of casters that dedicated to much time into making it more entertaining for us. Something we love made better by these guys and we can share with friends. When we look back on this 20 years from now, the will be legends of the progession of esports.
