Best of luck to him in the Code A qualifiers. He is pretty high on the KR ladder, so he should be eligible, right?

I heard that anyways you can be eligible even if you aren't top 200 on ladder, like if you are part of a team/in a teamhouse or foreigner.

iirc from the yellow show it said you had to be a certain number of points in master league. I'm sure it changes every qualifier though because of bonus pool inflation.

The points cutoff is more of a "guideline" than a rule.

There are 576 spots in Code B qualifiers (there used to be a lot less - so the cutoff was actually a lot more important). They order sign-ups by their ladder rank. If you're in the top 576, you can play in the qualifier. It's that simple.

The "cutoff" is the points/rank you would need to have if EVERYONE in the top 576 on ladder signed up.

do people really not remember fOrGG's insane macro style just because he decided that "make way more units than my opponent for a specific timing push" was a better path to victory than "make way more units than my opponent then keep making more units instead of controlling my army?"
"he wasn't known for his macro" is a really funny thing to hear about fOrGG given that he literally was only known for his macro for the longest time

It doesn't mean he CANNOT macro for fuck sake. Why do people on here just go one extreme or the other.

Probably because you somehow turned this argument from "ForGG vs MVP" to "ForGG vs top BW progamers" A player can look good in the first comparison yet still not good in the 2nd.

He was not particularly known for great macro IN BW that's all - that doesn't mean he was bad at all.

Oddly enough, macro was one of the things he was renowned for. At times even more so than his timings.

His lategame was maybe weaker than early and mid, however in SC2 this wont be the case because everything is easier. He was an A-team progamer; he's got better mechanics/macro than everyone but MvP (and probably better than him) so it doesn't matter what he was considered in BW.

Well, the original discussion was "ForGG vs MVP", and not "ForGG vs top BW players", so it seemed like you agree, but just read those statements out of context and therefore your response made no sense.

To be honest every progamer in bw has great macro and mechanics nowadays. It seems to be strategy/game management or whatever you want to kill it that makes people good.

Honestly people do seem to forget he was like the iloveoov of timing pushes. When you expected someone to have x amount of units on this many bases at this time he had way more than that. His macro was superb along with his timing knowledge to back it up.

You can even get this sense in his game vs Huk where on 1 base for a long time he had quite alot of units.

Of course every BW programer has good mechanics / macro, but there's still a huge
difference in mechanics between many players.

Pretty much. Any BW A-teamer will have faaaaaar more macro ability than necessary to macro in sc2.

The similarity assumption underlies the next step: it is that qualities overlap such that "Similar experiences can guide future reasoning, problem solving and learning". In other words that if your "reasoning, problem solving and learning" can lead you to win Arena MSL in 2008, beating on the way as it were, Kal (protoss), Flash (terran) and Jaedong (Zerg), in that order, at the same time they could all be argued as the best of their respective races, then you should be regarded as a real contender in SC2 too. Why? Because of the similarity assumption, which is, I grant, an abstraction, but real much in the same way that shadows are real.

there is a little misinformation here; Kal is not one of the best protosses, not even in top 5 at all. never been.

(P)Bisu is the best protoss in BW that is still around and has always been..

Lol Kal was the best protoss in early 2010 to the end of that season

sorry pal

Having a good protoss on a team is essential in BW and since there are not a lot of good protosses in BW, you won't see many transition.

I've always called it "4GeeGee"

I have no idea if that's how it's supposed to be spoken though.

The state of ForGG's macro is irrelevant in the context of SC2 performance as its been shown in SC2 b-teamer skill set is more than enough.

Who knows if you'll spend four hours more writing about his comeback in the future.

Why is everyone comparing MVP to all the BW players that switched? He wasn't the best to switch. Sangho and Tester were both far better
