Stephano. /thread

His win at IPL is so much more impressive than Idra's at IEM. Idra barely made it out of his group. Yeah, he beat two koreans, but Revival's ZvZ is terrible and Puma basically gave wins away.

Meanwhile Stephano 2-0ed Huk, 2-0ed Boxer, then beat Kiwikaki, Violet, Inori, TheSTC, and Lucky. If you count Huk as Korean, that's SIX bo3s he won against Koreans in this tournament. And the craziest thing is, he made it look so damn easy.

Unbelievably dominant performance from Stephano, who has to be considered far and away the best foreigner in the world right now. Sick, sick play.

I'm really impressed by Stephano after today.

He just won the IPL 3 lan tournament which had the most Koreans in a foreigner event to date and saw the following players drop at the ro32:

Demuslim
Boxer
Socke
Hero
Sheth
Artist
and MC

and had 10 Koreans in the ro16. As far as I know, that's the best recent result by a foreigner by far.

Also, I think Stephano has proven that he could very realistically qualify for code A, through Korean qualifiers. He beat 4 Koreans today (11-2 against Koreans), which is how many he would have to beat to qualify for code A.

Huk was born in America and moved to Canada iirc

In my opinion
Zerg: Stephano
Terran: Demuslim
Protoss: Sase

Stephano being better than every foreigner and among Top Korean players eazy.

Results dont change how good a player is - they just open the eyes of some people.

I agree with the list for the most part, but I seriously question Huk being better than Sen. Huk is a fantastic player, no doubt about it, but Sen is absurdly good. Course it's all personal opinion but watching Sen play leaves me in awe; watching Huk makes me nervous due to some of his decision making.

A few pages ago I said something like "I don't know why Stephano is so high."

I was wrong.

I disagree.

Got to love the bandwagoning in the TL forums.

Still Stephano is an pretty awesome player. I still think the title for best foreigner is too close to decide based on few tournies

Gonna be a hipster, but I don't give a fuck.

Totally called Stephano to win this thing weeks ago.

EU players are so legit.

And top foreigners in general look they might actually be shaping up.

From reading this thread, it's pretty much whichever foreigner won the latest tournament. First it was Naniwa after he won MLG dallas and won 30 something BoX in a row. Then it was Huk after he made code S and won Dreamhack Summer and Homestory. Then it was Sen after he was the highest placing foreigner in NASL. Then it was Dimaga after he won Assembly. Then it was Ret after he won the EU battle.net invitational. Then it was Thorzain after doing well in the GSTL and taking 2nd at Dreamhack Valencia. Then it was Idra after winning IEM Guangzhou. Now it's Stephano after winning IPL3. Who knows who's going to be next. The only conclusion I can come to is that there is no #1 foreigner until someone takes the throne and stays there for an extended period of time like the way MC/Nestea/MVP did in Korea.

Well put. I agree with the sentiment that no foreigner is head and shoulders above all the others.

I reckon another question to be asked is, what is the 'foreigners' best race?

Arguably i'd be saying Zerg now with Stephano, Idra, Sen and Dimaga.

followed by P, then T.

Where if you look at the Koreans, i'd say their best race are their Terrans.

I guess foreigners are aliens.

--
Also whilst I think Stephano probably is one of the best foreign player at the moment, if he doesnt up his practice routine, he may end up slumping like Jinro once he's been 'figured out'

Pretty much Mana is the only P that can compete with the Koreans (White-Ra... no. Not really, he did beat MMA though. But I'd say no). On the Terran side you have Thorzain/Select. We'll see if Major can step it up.

On the other hand with Zerg you have Dimaga/Idra/Sen/Stephano as you said.

And Idra won IEM Guangzhou, which is amazing, including beating two very strong Koreans.

And Stephano just beasted it up as well.
