I've been watching some of the games, very interesting concept, but I've heard it's pretty disorganized.

Perhaps it is but then again is it not meant to be more of a 'boot camp' for some of these players to get into shape for the upcoming MLG? Guess we'll get to hear feedback from how the players found it soon enough

@Xeris, why would a practice LAN need to be any more organized. Its not really a tournament environment.

I didn't say it was a tournament... but apparently it's literally just players there and they say "go play games" ...

Again, I love the concept of this, bringing in top level players for intense training. But if there was more structure they might get more out of it?

I don't know it's only been a few hours that's just the initial word I've heard from people who are there

Xeris, my purpose was not to blame you but to inquire on the statement that was "heard". I'd actually like to see more video of the tournament area. ^^

I agree, I was hoping for more of a Homestory Cup vibe. That's a tournament that could double, ambiance-wise, as a training session.

I've been enjoying the lan so far. Some great games with great analysis. The first person streams are cool to have too

I'm actually loving the multiple streams as well so we can watch some of the guys play from a first-person view. Actually think more tournaments should look into this avenue in the future, I guess the only potential issue would be potential lag from streaming affecting the players as it's pretty intensive on your comp, but still cool nonetheless.

I'm watching Slush's view from here:
http://www.redbullusa.com/cs/Satellite/en_US/001243017356310
but what I don't understand is why Day[9] is teaching Pokebunny how to play during the game? Is this a fun event?

My understanding is that it's some sort of bootcamp, and Pokebunny seemed pretty receptive to what Day9 was saying so it's as if he's being overly patronising or anything

Genuinely didn't know about this event until I logged on at 2am or so but I'm actually enjoying it the most of the tournaments/events that are going on

This is a training LAN.
But yeah being a Korean gamer is very imba. If you're a non-korean gamer you have to balance your game playing with earning money and your real life. If you're Korean you just sit around playing games all day eating 2 cent ramyun and becoming gosu.

It's training, and it's really interesting to watch Day actually tell the players what to tweak.

Just waiting for him to sneak in a Funday Monday criteria to mess up the metagame. :-)

"Okay, SLush, no more units, only spine/spore crawlers." "Poke, build Planetary in SLush's base."

Hum, I just got home and have no idea what this is. All I know is that this is a Lan, but why is day9 giving pokebunny tips?? What are those games?

EDIT: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=270027 lolol

I don't know if this is really effective training the way Day9 treats it.

Is it just me or is the 'chat room' shared with the viewers of the other games? It's descended into outright trolling from fools who seem to think telling SC2 fans 'you live with your parents basement' is funny. It's not even a proper sentence!

Crap is being thrown on both sides though.

Also the streams were very messy early on, sound issues mainly. They seemed to be cleared up so no issue.

Interesting overall concept, but I think the shared chat room was a mistake. People cannot control their inner troll over the net like they can irl (people at events with shared areas wouldn't be like this, for fear of being smacked in the mouth imo).
Bleh.

I don't know man, there is a bit too much trolling for my liking but if any curious folk move over to check out the SC2 stream after hearing people talk about it, and get into the game through that avenue I guess it could have a silver lining

As Day[9] said, the game was over, but rather than starting another game right away, they could practice a bit of this later-mid game push on both sides by not ending it right then.

P.S. Not even looking at the chat. Rather deal with the manner folks on TL. :-)
