I dont know why people keep saying Stephano haven't proved himself at Lans
He placed 5th in HSC 3 beatign Huk 2-0 Lost to Thorzain and MC
His group:
1. Stephano 3-0 2. HuK 2-1 3. iNSoLeNCE 1-2 4. NarutO 0-3
Then he lost to Thorzain 2-0 got into losers bracket and did this:
Jinro 0 Stephano 2
Stephano 2 XlorD 0
White-Ra 1 Stephano 2
MC 2 Stephano 0
He placed 5th together with Idra. This was his first Lan ever and he did all this being an amateur player.
Then he travelled to Assemply summer.
His group:
1. Stephano 3-0 2. Brat_OK 2-1 3. biGs 1-2 4. Satiini 0-3
Round of 16:
Stephano 2 Sen 1
Quaterfinal:
Stephano 2 Seiplo 1
Semifinal:
DIMAGA 3 Stephano 2
Then beat Brat_OK 3-0 to get 3rd..
These are some of the biggest Lans in Europe. If this isn't proving himself at Lans then 90% of all pro sc2 players haven't proved them self either
So plz stop with this sillyness
Ok I'll give in he did good. But some of the players he beat I wouldn't put too much faith in. A slumping Jinro, some no names, and Brat_OK is very overrated imo. http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/3065149/1/imbaBratOK/sure, currently Nr. 13 in US GML with a score of 110-12. heh, pretty sick actually BRAT_OK > like 95% of North American players. Its just people dont know how crazy/good he is Because he's never made a splash in the international scene. The people that matter know who bratok is and what he has done, thats all that needs to be said. Point still stands. You got no point, just because you pretty clueless about Brat_OK doesn't mean he isn't well known. Brat_OK has participated in every lan in Europe since BW and done very well. Btw there is other countries in the world beside US that do alot of stuff in Esport you do realise that? his point was that bratok is not well known on an international level. im sure if you asked any koreans about him as well as americans there would be just as much ignorance. the fact is he hasnt really won anything, and that's what it takes to get international acclaim. nobody is saying he is a bad player.
So his point was that Brat_OK is overrated because he's not well known on an international level? That makes absolutely no sense since we're talking about skill level, not e-fame. Every European pro, or anyone who follows the EU scene for that matter, recognize Brat_OK as a very skilled and scary terran. And now he's overrated because some people who knows shit about the scene don't know who he is? What?
And would say calling someone who gets very little recognition to begin with overrated equals calling him bad.

That was not his point. You misunderstood.
He said that bratok was good but relatively unknown for his skill. That is all.
Frankwall's was referring to another poster's point in the first sentence, but the second sentence onwards is Frankwall's own opinion that bratok "hasn't really won anything".

Uhm, Zooper31 started all this by calling Brat_OK 'very overrated'.

No I do think Brat_OK is overrated. That's my opinion and I'm entitled to it, my reasons for thinking that is because he's made little to no splash in the INTERNATIONAL scene. Idc what he does in European only tournaments or American only tournaments. Only care about tournaments that have people from around the world competing against each other because thats the only place that I think that people can rightfully prove themselves.

you cant prove that kind of stuff if youre not allowed to leave your country. I have no doubt in my mind that he wouldve done some serious damage at lots of MLGs if he just had had the chance to do so.

Deciding to use only T1 units to attack now and still wining against pro players and still n°1 GM, someone has to explain to me how he manages to do that over and over and still win against players doing builds designed to counter his mass lings style.

It's an interesting style indeed. He gets 3/3 for his lings really fast, as he doesn't need gas for anything really. Then mass expanding with all those minerals.
|
What's his record now? Is it still going strong?
|
5 bases running off 1 gas just for Zergling upgrades and lair/hive, and crushing everything and everyone :D

his record should be 77-3 now, just watched his game vs nerchio so insane Oo
|
He's up to 1400+ pts now, getting a maximum of 3 pts for Nerchio, who he just beat. I watched him use JUST zerglings and beat a GM Terran o.O He had like 2 gas geysers taken by the END of the game..
guy has crazy strats!
|
he won 2 games against Nerchio, who stream sniped him, because he "wins too much".
|
he just lost one game against a pylon block between main and natural on taldarim altar (noname toss afaik)... stephano tried nydus as a follow up which did not work...
|
One thing that is getting him his wins is just great macro. Just think about how many lings you can stream off of 4 saturated bases + macro hatches when you can keep up with your injects. When those lings are 3/3 cracklings, I guess it's easier to understand how you could get overwhelmed. It's still ridiculous though, how does he hold things like cloak banshee rushes and the like?
