Has this become a familiar sight on your Wednesday night?
I hope no one took this idea while i am writing this thread or I will be annoyed!
Anyways, enough about that, lets get on with the show! (man this intro is a load of $#!T)

ANYWAYS, after reading this thread here: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=267855#7 i was inspired to make a thread called 'how do you have your GSL' which basically asks very simply... how do you watch it.

The GSL has become for me, and i think for many of us, a replacement for our prime time sport, whether it be american football, soccer, NBA or here in Australia, friday night footy. It is just so amazing to watch and admire all of the players delivering their breathtaking builds with unnatural precision, and in my opinion is the best sport in the world, but this is another topic

So when that special time comes every night (7:10 pm here, absolutely PERFECT), how do you watch your GSL. I think a beautiful thing about the GSL is that it is streamed from your laptop so you can watch it anywhere, and the probability that no one else in your family watches it means that you can admire the tournament in peace. So what is your setup?

Is it like this mans whom i drew the inspiration from this thread:

or this random dude watching from two screens?

Whatever your comfort zone, share it with us and maybe we can adapt some of your techniques that makes GSL that much more fun

My GSL
I always crank my electric blanket on full, get a huge bowl of fruit and yogurt (tastes soo goood) , turn the lights of and enjoy a night of GSL. Best night of the week, filled with prime time code S material. This is one of those things you will look back on with a sense of nostalgia and good times (who needs nights out at night clubs with hot chicks anways! lol ahahahahahaahahehehohoho waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa )

enjoy sharing!

I just watch the vods, code s usually happens at 11:10 a.m. my time so I either watch it live because I can (pretty much wake up, get something to eat, get some coffee and drink/eat that while I watch) or I just watch vods over the course of the week whenever I feel like it.

I watch it in my living room on my 46" lcd tv. I have bought the VODs for every GSL since they stopped lagging and introduced HQ VODs.

I have to agree, it's my replacement of more traditional sports which never really got me interested - the action was just too slow. SC2 on the other hand is full of non-stop action and you can really see when players crack under pressure, get cocky or whatever.

Basically, I get home from work around 1am. Just in time to read up on the hype before listening to more pregame hype (k-pop). Once the cast starts I start some dinner and by the time the first match gets heated up I'm sitting on my bed in my studio (screaming, sometimes) while my girlfriend is asleep cuz she's got class in the morning. That's about how every weeknight goes during GSL seasons.

I don't watch GSL because I'd rather play myself, or watch another foreigner stream (unless DRG plays), I've gotten super tired of Terran winning everything, and have 20/32 of them Terran is a bit silly, I really don't see myself watching GSL live like I do other foreigner tournaments.

GSL on one screen, twitter feed on the other, Pepsi + Massive bag of crisps.
Win.

Usually watch it alone, but sometimes get my girlfriend in on it too if its gonna be a good set.

Haha, nice. I hook my laptop up to my TV, but it's not quite 46 inches. My 32 inch TV is sufficient enough, though.

Starts at 9:10pm here, and I work early... so the main way I watch my GSL is by hoping that the players I want to watch (the foreigners and the Protoss, and especially the foreigner Protoss) are in the first set of matches of the night!

The GSL starts 11.10 am here in Sweden so I'll write "client meeting" on my schedule, close the door to my office and make sure I can tab really fast...

I generally watch it on my 42-inches television while sitting on the sofa with my wife
Occasionally, I will watch it on my tablet while in bed or on the toilet seat (poopoo tablets ftw, seriously those things are made for that).

I only watch because a) im European and not very often during GSL and b) unfixed router issues which won't allow me to watch live.

I watch the vods when I get home during dinner and then depending how interested I am in the players I just watch the whole match(es) or I just mute the stream (escpecially with code a commentators), turn music on and do other stuff while gsl is running on the second screen. However after ro4/8 I normally watch the whole match

I pop it on my main monitor, chuck the LR thread on my second monitor, tell people in the thread the stream has started and curse GOM for not updating the kpop.

Then enjoy it and try to be witty and eloquent in the thread.

And thank my parents for being Australian lol.

Also basically just check stuff on the internet when a Protoss plays because that aint fun.

That top picture is absolutely epic.

I get my GSL fix just on my simple computer and monitor. When I eventually setup my living room and such the way I want it, it'll probably be coming from my TV, but we'll have to see how it goes.

Since it starts around 11AM here, I just got up, defreeze some buns, put some honey or nutella on them and make myself a can of tea.

I then take everything infront of my computer, put my feet up, lay back and watch and eat in this position.

I don't watch GSL. No stream without downloading stuff, favourite matchup basically never happens due to terran oversaturation, during brood war season it clashes with brood war programming, can't stand the code S casters, I'll just check the OP of the live report thread in the afternoon and/or how many liquibet points I got through autopicking terran players, if I remember. Think the last game I watched was, ooh, maaaaaaaaaybe the mc/jinro 4-0?

That about sums it up for me. I don´t like watching the VODs. I like the hype of watching something live.

bla bla bla bla bla balance whine bla bla bla bla bla bw elitist bla bla bla bla bla get help for hating tastosis bla bla bla bla bla "subtle" balance whine bla bla bla bla you so coool

anyhows, when i wake up around 10am i really look forward to Code S that starts hour later or so, because it gives me time to get hyped. in the mean time i love to check up on TL, and after that i get coffe, something sweet, and/or some kind of pretzels...

after that im usually motivated to play :D

edit: when college starts game over, and yes, i really prefer live action over vods. its almost as if its not the same thing, i guess its like real sports :D

well it is clear to see that you have a subscription! my lord that is good quality, and that TV would be epic to watch it on. I have tried watching it through my TV, but with the free version the quality is literally terrible

I can't stay up till 5am to watch the GSL live, nor can I get up at that time (it's simply an awful time for my body to function) so I watch the VODs a few hours later (8-10am) while eating strawberry-flavored oatmeal for breakfast.

As long as I don't read any GSL-related forum threads prior to watching, I still feel the hype from watching the VODs a few hours after the live event.

I watch it while eating breakfast on week days(it starts 30mins before I wake up for work usually, so I can watch a few games then head for work), and fall asleep on it on weekends.

I don't watch GSL ... I don't enjoy it nearly as much if it's not live so I don't buy the season passes (I can't watch in HD anyway because it takes too much bandwidth for telecoms in Quebec.) Plus it's too late now with uni in the morning.

It's too bad, really. Best casters, best games for the most part... So yep, I'm missing out.

Being in Australia (or just a similar timezone in general) definitely makes it 100x better, I get to sit down after dinner at 7:10 PM and enjoy the GSL on my 42" TV.

Being in Western Australia, the GSL starts at 5:10pm, so I usually get home from work just in time to catch the start (or middle, sometimes) of the first game. I put it on and start with dinner, watching from the kitchen, then I sit at the table watching it, then I watch it while I wash up and then turn the screen around 180 degrees to watch from laying down on my couch for the remainder of the games.

I wake up at 4 AM, drink a pot of coffee, a can of monster, eat a bowl of random foodstuffs I gather from my kitchen, and weep openly as the first, second, third, and fourth games are TvT.

GSL goes on air at around 5 in the afternoon here in my country. So after surviving the arduous task that is surviving university life, I go home immediately after my last class to watch the gsl. I put off finishing my homework and other school related shit til after gsl. :D

What is that concoction from the first pic? Looks good.

My usual set-up is lying on my side in the bed, with my laptop resting on its side as well. It's also 5:10 am, so I use headphones to keep the noise down, drink a bunch of diet soda, and close the curtains so that I won't get depressed knowing that I'm up at 5 in the morning and will probably wake up sometime during the following night.

The GSL starts at 12 here in Finland, so I am sitting in school at the moment as it runs. As soon as they get the live-player for android (I have an galaxy s2) I will start taking my earplugs to school and watching some GSL during classes. VOD:s dont fire me up so mutch.

I throw the stream up on my computer, crack open a nice brew, and lean back in my chair. If I'm feeling extra-fancy, I'll cook up some pasta before it starts.

Does anyone else play SC2 during downtime and uninteresting games? On PST the games come on pretty late, so I'm usually one of the ones making a pot of coffee and trying to stay up. If my TvTolerance has been exceeded for the night I'll often hop on bnet and play a game or two. Don't get me wrong, I've begun to appreciate the matchup and like watching the various stages of the game. Still, there are nights when I'd rather play, with Tastosis audibly doing their thing in the background so I know how the games are going. The adrenaline from an intense game or two helps to stay awake =D

Sort of, maybe? i really would like to, but my mum has banned me from games and if she saw me i would freak. So i just watch it in my room with my hand on the alt tab, ready to switch out at the moments notice of the turn of the doorhandle! so in downtime i just watch other streams and look through TL

@Doso, do the vods lag? that would really suck, are the live ones any better? it might just be ur computer

I chop a bowl, make some green tea and throw GSL up on my 42" TV.
The only positive to being in Australia ESPORTS wise is GSL being on at the perfect time ^_^

For those that only watch it on the free stream, the HD paid stream is actually really good. I sometimes plug it to my 42-inch TV to watch

Other times, I watch it on my laptop and sometimes watch it with dinner (the GSL evening session syncs quite well with dinner).

I stopped watching GSL at all. For me: EU and NA do have more interesting tourneys. I don't need to see koreans and a handfull (I don't even know if there is more than 1 in Code S) of foreigners batteling in Starcraft and calling it global.
And: The quality of the free Stream of GOM is non-watchable.

starts at 5:00 AM here so it really depends on what is happening tomorrow.

in an ideal situation I'm still up sitting at my computer with some coffee.

often it's midafternoon, I've just gotten home from school or work and I'm watching vods with lunch. not that this isn't great too :D

Well I can't watch it live because I am from europe (GSL comes at the time you are at work or school).

So when I come home, I set everything up, get coffee, something dry and carefully close door in room so nothing can interrupt me. Friday and saturday are special because then I make special preparation with something good like soda and crisps. =)

Seems to start at so many different times now. I'll normally have it muted and minimized in a window while I'm doing uni work or reading stuff and I'll check it to see if there's an interesting match on (not TvT) every 5-10 minutes or so.

It's friday night and the night is still young. I get off work and call up some of my buddies to see what's goin' down tonight. "Any parties going on? Any babes attending? Dude, I'm there."

I go home really quick to freshen up, take off my work clothes and put on my freshest threads. Hop on my computer really quick on pull up itunes for some pump-up music (Hero- Enrique Iglesias) Put on just a tickles of cologne. You know, that amount where the chicks be like, "Damn, this fool smells good. Gimme some of that." But at the same time not so much that it's overwhelming. I give myself a quick shave, brush my teeth, test my smile a few times in the mirror and I'm ready to party. I grab my helmet, hop on my motorcycle and I'm off.

I arrive at the party and shit is going off, we got a DJ keeping the party bumpin', we got about a solid 60-40 ratio (babes to bros), and you can tell everyone is just looking to have a good time. I get straight to business and thrown down a couple of shots to get in the mood. It's now time to check the merchandise (merchandise=babes). I walk around scoping the party to find my prey. I pass by a few ladies, "Sup", "How's it goin?", "“Excuse me, but I think I dropped something. My jaw."

And then I see her. She's so hot she makes the rest of the girls at the parties look like 3.5s (out of 10). One word, Flawless. One more word, Drunk. I'm in. I immediately approach this angel and go in for the kill. The conversation is going well and I can tell that in just a few minutes she will be ready to get on the back on motorcycle to go back to my house where the real party will take place. All of the sudden my phone alarm goes off. ".... I'm sorry, I just... I just have to go."

"I'm such an idiot! How could I have forgotten?!"
Despite being slightly tipsy I hop on my bike and race home.
"Barely made it in time." I take off my clothes, and hop in bed with my laptop and put on some live Code S action.
"Ahhhhhhhhhh. Complete."
I get it.

I usually watch and surf TL, unless it hasn't started yet and its only Kpop videos. Then I put the stream on the small screen and play SC2 on the bigger one. It sucks staying up till 4 just to "start" watching.

Usually for code A it's 6am so I make a GSL breakfast, I watch it in my bed in caveman mode. And I love it.
For code S and GSTL, it's 11am so I put the GSL on the TV screen and I watch it while eating with a netbook close to me so I can post in the LR thread <3

I only watch the vods since they are of greater quality than the stream and I do not have to care about watching at specific times.

Typically I only watch games where either
1. Foreigners play.
2. It is really high level play (Code S round of 16 or better).
3. It is my favorite matchup TvZ.
4. Code A finals.

I watch it with a can of coke on my PC. When I watch it live, it involves having to wake up really early in the morning, and going through a battle with sleep until it starts. Then I can just look at Tasteless' handsome face to keep me awake. <3

No matter if its live or vods, when I know I'm gonna have a long GSL session, I make myself a grilled cheese With bacon with and a huge glass of sunny D. Gotta love fake OrAnge juice. Or I make korean ramen noodles, with some dumplings. Surprisingly Im not fat loool!

Setup: I load gsl on my laptop put it next to my bed... Plug my projector, aim it on my ceiling over my bed. Plug my headset. Best cinematic experience ever. However u cannot eat in this position, i switch to this when im done eating lol.

Downside, i can easily fall asleep if im already tired.

I take my laptop to my kitchen table, next to the window with a view of the street. It starts with coffee while I browse the interwebs waiting for it to start. Then more coffee. Then after the first couple of series, 2 bacon sandwiches. With HP sauce. Then a huge jug of blackcurrant squash. Then chocolate.

Fuck I wish it was Monday morning already so I could eat all that.

I try and watch as much as possible. I usually start watching it on my desktop with massive quantities of booze and end up on my bed with my laptop only to wake up 6-7 hours later with my tummy on fire because my laptop has been cranking away all night. GSL has replaced any semblance of traditional sports for me. <333333 it so glad I started playing this game.

Ha, I'm an aussie too. the only thing that is worth watching at 7 is the 7pm project, and yeah friday night footy (and sat and sun) are the only things worth watching here...

So yeah, after dinner I usually just watch gsl. and do hw. which usually means procastinating ^^
