I'm so envious of everyone going to Korea, I'm Korean-American, but I have never been. Being a GSL fan I really want to visit and now all these foreigners are there, it makes me want to go even more! Its a shame I'm broke

I don't know, I guess they all think that going there will somehow make them improve even more.
You can do what you what's done in Korea at home, you just need the dedication and motivation.

That's my understanding at least. I'm probably missing something.

He also announced 5 minutes ago that he'll make an attempt at both WCG & Code A while he's there. Should be interesting, but I feel his PvZ will needs some work to be successful (hopefully Korea will change that)

Well it's easier to play 10 hours a day if everyone you live with does the same, because then you'll be the weird one if you don't practise enough. Also the quality of practise is better in Korea because the skill level is higher. So yeah you could probably become at least almost as good at home with dedication and motivation, but you'd have to work even harder for it than you would have to in Korea.

According to the Sase in his most recent interview, no amount of training in Europe can compare with in Korea prohouse or not because of the quality of players ( practice partners/ladders)

So yeah probably players agree with him and realize that unless you go to Korea, you'll just fall behind. Even EG's alex garfield said the same thing ( " Idra needs to go to Korea") eventhough EG has the team house now.

And ToD was a dedicated wc3 pro who has been to Korea and China so he'll have no problem settling in and won't get culture shock/ homesick/ privacy matters that often hinder other pros.

This is already known, ToD won WCG France, and said he would be going to Korea early for practice.

It's not just grinding out a lot of games on the ladder or with other pros in customs. There's a teaching, guiding component to being in Korea too.

As other people have pointed out Koreans don't just play a lot, or even rehearse the same build over and over. They discuss strategy with each other and Korean teams have dedicated coaches going over replays, pointing out mechanical flaws, ect.

I know Nazgul acts as TL's coach and FXO has coaches, but the other foreign teams? I don't think they have much in the way of coaching beyond the players. And even then, if you aren't around the other players how much can you really coach each other?

I know some of the foreign houses have the equivalent of player-coaches, but I don't think that's nearly the same. The skillset required to teach and play are different and depending on how player oriented that person is, their knowledge of the game is going to be slanted towards the matchups they play and even then, from the side they play. That's just natural no matter how well they understand the game, their exposure is limited.

Most of the foreign players live in the Gom house, but a bunch of them travel to practice with other teams, FXO when they got there practiced a ton with fOu (leading to their merger). Naniwa lived in the ST house for a while too, Fenix of course ended up with IM, so he was obviously playing with them ahead of time, ect.

looking very forward to this step ToD decided to take for himself - if anyone of the foreigners has had the experience of "living the korean dream" and basically the raw potential of becoming very good - even compared to korean standards - it´s him
in the age of "Person, Woman, Man, Camera, TV" leadership.

Stephano is moving into a prohouse in france though? And Tod left because he would rather be in korea than france.

Grubby and steelseries need to make something happen and recruit TOD and SASE to team SS so that they can fight team acer and we can watch a clan war of only PvZ (:

In all seriousness though, sase grubby and tod have all proven that they are professional gamers who have spent years of their alives abroad to train for tournaments. Any team that can afford them won't be dissapointed with what they get.

Man, that's pretty exciting news. I was wondering if ToD was ever going to bust out of his SC2 shell. Obviously his MLG Anaheim performance was sick good, but it didn't really get as much notoriety as it probably should have. GL

Sase, Tod, Grubby... stuff for legend.

Good luck ToD, you've showed in wc3 how good you can be when you give your all to something, I'm pretty sure we will root for you in code S in a few month or so.

3 October : ToD in Korea

26 October : ToD Top 25 GM

November : Code B

December : Code B > Code A

January : Code A > Code S

GSL February > ToD GSL Champions

Sound like a plan !

ToD, DeMusliM, White-ra, Stephano, MVP !

I agree, ToD def has RTS talent and Korea will bring him to the next level. His level cap is something yet to be seen, and the level cap is continually being pushed out by the larger available Korean player base.

No offense but some of the 'foreigbers' going to Korea may still never reach the Code S level just like so many local Korean players (GM etc. who ladder and practice a lot) never make Code S either.

So some players may never reach Code S you say? Controversial, very controversial.

OMW, this is going to be insane. I think players going to train in Korea will help them out a ton. Especially ToD from what I seen off him playing.

ToD said yesterday even if many people want to see him on Grubby Team , Grubby didn't ask him to join , and he thinks Grubby want stay alone, then he said "GrubbyToD" it's weird :D

I assume you havn't read/seen the Dragon Ball Z Manga/Anime? (Lol wrote X first)
Short version: Enter second dimension where 1 week = I hour in real world (I don't actually think this is correct but you get the idea).
Train for a 10 years, which translates into only 520 hours in the real world.

The reference is how going to korea is similar to entering this second dimension (For how effective the practice will become).

its a training room from Dragonball Z. inside the room, 1 day is as long as 1 year outside of the room
If you think it's too hard there are solutions other than asking for a nerf, getting better is the first that comes to mind.
