You joined back and February and haven't posted anything until now?! haha I can't resist posting in some threads because of the silly things people say, so I'm amazed you could pull it off ![]() This OP could be a little better, but GL to ToD in Korea! Also the quality of practise is better in Korea because the skill level is higher. So yeah you could probably become at least almost as good at home with dedication and motivation, but you'd have to work even harder for it than you would have to in Korea.Show nested quote + On September 09 2011 04:31 Meteora.GB wrote: What's with the recent surge in foreigners going to Korea I wonder? You can do what you what's done in Korea at home, you just need the dedication and motivation. That's my understanding at least. I'm probably missing something. According to the Sase in his most recent interview, no amount of training in Europe can compare with in Korea prohouse or not because of the quality of players ( practice partners/ladders) So yeah probably players agree with him and realize that unless you go to Korea, you'll just fall behind. Even EG's alex garfield said the same thing ( " Idra needs to go to Korea") eventhough EG has the team house now. And ToD was a dedicated wc3 pro who has been to Korea and China so he'll have no problem settling in and won't get culture shock/ homesick/ privacy matters that often hinder other pros.

You can do what you what's done in Korea at home, you just need the dedication and motivation. That's my understanding at least. I'm probably missing something. It's not just grinding out a lot of games on the ladder or with other pros in customs. There's a teaching, guiding component to being in Korea too. As other people have pointed out Koreans don't just play a lot, or even rehearse the same build over and over. They discuss strategy with each other and Korean teams have dedicated coaches going over replays, pointing out mechanical flaws, ect. I know Nazgul acts as TL's coach and FXO has coaches, but the other foreign teams? I don't think they have much in the way of coaching beyond the players. And even then, if you aren't around the other players how much can you really coach each other? I know some of the foreign houses have the equivalent of player-coaches, but I don't think that's nearly the same. The skillset required to teach and play are different and depending on how player oriented that person is, their knowledge of the game is going to be slanted towards the matchups they play and even then, from the side they play. That's just natural no matter how well they understand the game, their exposure is limited. Most of the foreign players live in the Gom house, but a bunch of them travel to practice with other teams, FXO when they got there practiced a ton with fOu (leading to their merger). Naniwa lived in the ST house for a while too, Fenix of course ended up with IM, so he was obviously playing with them ahead of time, ect.

Grubby and steelseries need to make something happen and recruit TOD and SASE to team SS so that they can fight team acer and we can watch a clan war of only PvZ (: In all seriousness though, sase grubby and tod have all proven that they are professional gamers who have spent years of their alives abroad to train for tournaments. Any team that can afford them won't be dissapointed with what they get.

No offense but some of the 'foreigbers' going to Korea may still never reach the Code S level just like so many local Korean players (GM etc. who ladder and practice a lot) never make Code S either.
