Seems to me like mlg could get a better translator if they wanted to (Milkies doesn't have the best voice and he has issues with nerves- see his interviews in anaheim). Only good thing about hiring milks is that many people like him ( which is probably due to the fact that he translates Korean stuff on tl.) Plus, his acalmost are sometimes really weird, bashing on nasl, not allowing fans to take pictures with him, etc You also have to factor in the fact that he also follows and knows Korean BroodWar and speaks Korean. With all the news that's happening in Korean BW right now, whether or not Korean BW is going to end, or just on a rough patch his knowledge can be useful to MLG in making future decisions with the Koreans. Not to mention that now that he's translated for 3 MLGs, the Koreans know him and trust him and are generally more comfortable working with him.

That said, full time offer is a different ball game. Milkis is from UChicago Economics no? That's undoubtedly the best economics program in the US ( world?) and the median starting salary for its grads probably is close to 70,000 USD per year or even more. Will be pretty crazy if MLG offers that much. Without trying to look too much into his personal life, I'd say looking at it from purely monetary point of view, it's probably not worth it for him to go full time MLG. of course this isn't just about money( it's ESPORTS!) and the economics job market isn't exactly hot right now. UChicago business school is one of the best, and it is well-known for its econ program but entry level out of undergrad, even for UChicago, is probably closer to 55k than 70. That said, I think Milkis has said that he's looking to be a statistician (from Weapon of Choice), which doesn't pay nearly as well (AFAIK) - esp. with the financial institutions.

Milkis is pretty "known" in that field it seems. If you didn't watch his interviews in Raleigh, go and take a look and compare them to Anaheim. And lastly. Why does he need take pictures with people or sign something? He's not a player or anything like that. Thats not weird or anything if you refuse to do so.. Just use your brains a little.

I did watch his interviews in raleigh, and his voice is just... not my style. I seem to have forgotten about the fact that he knows many korean players, so I guess that's probably the main reason mlg wants him. And don't make strawmen please.

He'd probably have to commit to attending every live MLG event and he'd have a boss, but in exchange for those extra burdens, he'd receive money. Those things could be significant burdens or very light burdens and he has to weigh them against the money offered. It could be that he'd essentially be doing the same thing and he'd receive money for it. Or it could be that he's not looking for some pocket money and he's not looking to be a career translator either and he values the freedom of being his own boss and doing things on his own terms. I think it is a nice compliment that MLG is seeking to work with him so I hope he knows how valuable and appreciated his work is! Well said, Tyler.
