you know they are very poor.I think it is understandable.

It is hard traveling alone when you don't know what the heck is ahead of you... Koreans > America

Well GSL viewers used twitter to thank pepsi. NASL viewers use twitter to show displeasure with SC2con teams? Do the coaches (or teams themselves, or sc2con itself) have a twitter?

Wait so, NASL offered $2000. Round trip tickets are like $1300. So that means they can buy a ticket and have $700 left over. Plus a giant prize pool which they will most likely get.
And they STILL say no?
WTF is going on with SC2Con lately? First the drama with other leagues, then the TSL drama, and now this? Seems like a series of some pretty bad decisions by their management. And if they really told NASL on the 2nd day of filming...that's pretty fked up.
Of course, we haven't heard the whole story yet. But the way SC2Con has been acting lately, it makes me wonder why do all these Korean teams and managers follow it.
Good luck to NASL. No doubt this will hurt them but I hope they pull through.
Doesn't seem like SC2Con and Korean teams are going to go unscathed either though...SC2Con really should evaluate their goals and what they want to achieve with some of these decisions in the long run.
PS: Is there a contact for SC2Con? Maybe if people would email them, the SC2Con would rethink their decision.

That is sad to hear but also there is some good points to come out of it and thats that now the foreigners now have a far more better chance of winning the competition
Will there be more players added to the league? ... To replace the Koreans who are no longer participating.
I bet the international players are now feeling rather good
Gogo Ret!!

damnn. I dotn know if i'm going to watch NASL anymore. sigh. it sucks
|
So let me get this straight....
Compete in NASL, get $2000 travel expenses. Play 1 bo3 and get knocked out (well actually you played 9 weeks of online play), or go further and spend 3-5 days in the US with chance to win $40,000. Not acceptable.
Compete in GSL, fly to korea on your own money. Get housed in the GOM house, live in conditions that most in the west find disagreeable. Play 1 bo3, get knocked out. Go further and spend up to 1 month in Korea for the chance to win up to $1,500. Acceptable.
Double standards much?

i could think of some (alot) of foreign pros that this will make happy.

Well shit. Will still watch, and it'll be nice seeing some big money going towards foreigners for once

Yes... i think Gom is a part of it. Gom/MLG trying to kill off the competition.

Obviously NASL doesnt want to lose the Koreans so they would have figured out the cost for reasonable travel to and from Korea and then offered them something around there. It's not that hard to enforce policies you know... like "this hotel" only and etc.
It's pretty you're obviously that you're not sincere. Please stop derailing.

This is about one of a few things:
1) Koreans trying to squeeze out NASL so that GSL remains number 1 2) They're pissed off at the EG/PuMa thing and they don't want that to repeat 3) They're pissed off at the hours of play and don't want to go through it again 4) They hate the tournament format for the finals and think its a waste of time
There may be other reasons, but those are the ones I can think of.
What I don't understand is why they went through the trouble of giving NASL an ultimatum. They clearly had no intention of competing to begin with. NASL has basically agreed to cover all travel costs... if its about 2-4 then why would they have ever signed up to qualify or make this ultimatum. its about money.

How many opportunities did koreans give american pro gamers to come out to korea to compete in their events with 100% expenses accounted for? If they want to compete in America, they should be able to come to America. Simple as that.

1) is laughable because right now there are several tournaments that NASL needs to be better than to come close to GSL
3) probably isn't so because they all knew what they were getting themselves into prior to applying for season2 - huge prize pool is worth the hassle
2) and 4) are most probably the reason. it's only logical from korean pov

It is the north american star league after all, and personally I would almost like to see it as only north american players, or all foreign players. To be perfectly honest I'm getting kind of sick just watching koreans absolutely destroy foreigners. Its getting to the point in most tournaments where it's not worth my time to watch before the top 8 because It's just blow-outs. Then in the top 8 its just koreans v koreans. I already have the gsl for that.
When koreans started playing in more tournaments such as the nasl, or the exchange with mlg I was pumped. But now its starting to become lame and I kind of want the older more exciting matches back. So you like watching inferior play? Color me not surprised at your username.... User was warned for this post
When an nfl game is on, would you rather watch 2 teams that are mediocre and fighting for a playoff spot, or would you rather watch a team who has one locked in beat a team with no shot?
All I'm saying is go back and watch the games from a few months ago. Were the players better? No. Were the games closer and more exciting? HELL YES. Can anybody really say they enjoyed championship sunday with a bunch of koreans playing from mlg anaheim more than they did back in dallas when naniwa made his spectacular run? Absolutely not.
I'll grant you this, you do get games such as puma mc that are very good, but the pure amount of good/exciting games has decreased since more koreans have been playing.

I'm impressed by NASL working hard to keep them, shame Korea had to be stubborn. Unless there is something to do with ping issues during the main season or something else they will be doing in Korea.

The end of the OP was pretty sensationalistic. I don't think you should do things like that, it's pretty unprofessional.

Durrrrr
Both teams are maximising their perceived expectation .. it is a decision of how to allocate what little resources they have.

2 and 4 is most definitely the reason... as their players are not on contracts.
