Joining the Casting Archon will be the inimitable Sean Plott (Day[9]), whose talent and expertise have blessed the Pro Circuit since D.C. 2010, and Mike Lamond (Husky), who will be returning after a fantastic performance in Anaheim. Day[9] and Husky will be taking a turn on the Blue stream at this Event. And as always, MLG's own JP McDaniel (ItmeJP) will be hosting and providing Main Stage interviews.
MLG Columbus raised the bar for competitive gaming in the US, and MLG Anaheim jolted it up to an even higher level. After MLG Raleigh, we're going to need a whole new bar. Join us.

Im very interested to see how Husky and Day9 do together, so far ive only seen them cast together at the GeForce Pro/Am tournement recently, so i want ot see how they do for some of the higher end matches (Husky in particular, i have great faith in Sean, hes too baller to make a mistake... lol =P)

Yeah that won't happen, Day9 already said that he wouldn't cast with his brother because they don't synergize well, they end up talking over each other xD
We're pretty much guaranteed fantastic casting on both streams (before last MLG, I wasn't sure how interesting/entertaining Bitter and Husky were going to be--glad I was proven wrong!). Fantastic line up, this looks epic.
edit: Don't forget, 3 Korean casters cast GSL and GSTL too.

Super excited for Raleigh regardless of who's casting it and my inability to pronounce Raleigh.

Read the main post, it's Husky, not Wheat...
EDIT: I think wheat has said that he likes DayJWheat
Ugh, this is just about the worst possible news I could of gotten about Raleigh.
Day9 is by far the best Caster (With DApallo and DJWheat both amazing) and Tasteless is by far the worst. I'll just watch the Blue Stream the entire time but being forced to watch the championship games with Tastosis just isn't gonna feel epic at all.
My only hope is that actually being under the scrutiny of such a large audience and a real management team Tastosis decides to cut the crap and mindless banter that seems to fill so much of their airtime
Man I'm sad djWHEAT isn't there, I loved him at past MLGs, especialy with day9.. they were an excellent duo. Right behind Tastosis for me. However, Tastosis returning is obviously awesome :D

That's the experience he cited for the lack of synergy in their casts, I believe. *shrug* I remember someone mentioning that that's how Day9/an official answered their requests for a Tastosis+Day9 cast at Columbus on the stream chat.
Sorry I couldn't make it this time guys. Unfortunately, I had another arrangement well before the dates for MLG were announced and this event conflicted. I'll see you at the final stops, but I'll be watching from PAX Good luck my casting brothers...
Nooooooooooooo! djWHEAT <3<3 God damn it.. Tastosis coming is great news, dont get me wrong! But an MLG without djWHEAT is so sad! Well, I guess I have to live with it.
Hopefully there will be as much(or more?:D) spectators, less TvT's and enough chairs! ;D Playerlist looks insane, Tastosis casting is always a pleasure! SO excited!
Awesome he is casting with Sean. They are a good duo in my opinion.
Not really a fan of Wheat anyway. Atleast, his laugh scares me His casting is good though. No offense Marcus!
And ofc Tastosis. <3 Awesome.

Ow no he didnt! ┻━┻ ︵ヽ(`Д´)ノ︵ ┻━┻
Some people actually do like Tasteless and think he is a good caster, I for one am. I like the silly mindless banter that fills so much of the air time. The world is too serious enough already.
There are so many good casters who're good in so many different ways, and some of the folks I think are the best are folks that don't seem to get that much press -- Incontrol, MrBitter, and Idra, in particular.
TBH I want to see Destiny cast too, because I think there'd be some good analysis down beneath the hilarity.
'Course, this isn't to denigrate Tastosis/Wheat/Day[J] or the other standards, either -- Day[9]'s solo cast of TSL3 finals game 7 was pretty awesome after CHILL GOT OUT (and Chill was damn good before that).

Yeah and they ended up talking over each all the time
It is sad that we wont see you djWheat this time around, i think you and Sean were soo good last event. You especially were really funny and just very good. Husky is great aswell so we shall be ok. However Tastosis!!!!!! So sick! Love those guys, they got so good chemistry. Looking forward to it.
NICE TASTOSIS!! and thank god djwheat wont be there. guy is horrible at public speaking, you dont say uhhhhhhhh between every word you say. you also should have to be AN EX PRO GAMER to cast sc2!
Sweet! Personally I'd love to see Day[9] together with Artosis or Tastless, if only for a couple of games, but I guess they don't really want to. The Casting Archon is always good, we don't seem to see them much in GSL these days (Code S two times a week? I want more Tastosis). Day[9] goes with anything. Husky is fine, and he seems to have improved a lot the last few months. All in all, a fine choice of casters. Go MLG!
I love Wheat, but Husky is fine. Can't wait..actually am looking forward to Providence since it's closer to my homeland, and I am hoping to go if the trip isn't too costly.
I actually like Day9+Husky more than with DJWheat. Husky has made some improvements into his play by play commentary by variate a bit, and not just told what's happening right now. Wheat is still stuck in that 99% of the time.
Now ... not to sound ungrateful, but could you please up the number of streams to cover more games? Doesn't need to be on stage and look flashy. Just someone (like Totalbiscuit/Apollo for instance) shoutcasting the non-main streamed games.
Last MLG we missed matchs like DRG vs Tyler and Idra vs Naniwa, would of been nice to have option to view them.
I know Husky has a lot more fans and recognition but I really liked mr bitter's casting at Anaheim. Although Husky's casting has gotten a lot better in the last year I would prefer mr bitter
This is fantastic news, though I think I would've preferred Mr Bitter even, Husky just seems so uncomfortable in front of the camera. Day9+ Tasteless or Day9+Artosis plz
It's going to feel a little strange without djWHEAT. I've come to associate djWHEAT with MLG SC2 since he has casted alongside Day[9] at every MLG so far, but it happens and it is understandable. I'm sure Husky will do a good job, I liked his casting with MrBitter at the last event. At least Day[9] is still there and Tasteless and Artosis are going to be coming! That's pretty awesome =).
soooooo sad i can't go!! i went to anaheim but raleigh is too far!! so sick to have tastosis this time i def need to get at least silver membership for this tourney!! gonna be super sick pools are out and look really good

tastosis is obviously awesome, but the team of husky and day9 is also very strong. I remember a TSL cast of the 2 and I liked it a lot. looking forward to this event!
I can't say I'm the biggest fan of Husky, but those other three (or four if you're a n00b who doesn't believe in archons) are super solid. All we need is djWheat and maybe Chill (just so that we have somebody to yell at to get out) and we'd have the perfect line up. Great line up as it is though, and really happy to see Tastosis.
Looking forward to this, though very sad that Day[9] is relegated to the Blue stream. I personally think he and DJ Wheat are better than Tastosis.. but since Wheat isn't coming I guess it makes sense since Husky is just way too lacking in game knowledge to be an enjoyable commentator.
Doesn't matter too much to me I guess. Still unsure if I will go to Raleigh but I will focus on the Red stream as always if I am at home and if I am in Raleigh then my focus will be on the featured station as always.
Was hoping to see Mr. Bitter come back, but can't complain about the lineup too much considering the names. djWHEAT will definitely be missed though. ZERG HWAITING!

Personally I feel its fine. Hes not the BEST at commentating at highest level of play, but he knows what he is talking about most of the time.
On August 12 2011 11:22 DarkPlasmaBall wrote: Husky isn't replacing DJ Wheat... Wheat is simply unavailable
Pity, of course.
Regardless, it'll still be an amazing tournament
I dunno man. Day9 and Husky have been casting the Geforce Pro/am together, and I think personally they're a great match.
I think Day[9] can make any co-caster look amazing. I like Husky, but he's not as good as some of the commentators who have been around longer (in my humble opinion). That includes DJ Wheat, by the way.
I love me some Wheat but Husky's really grown on me as of late, he was really good with Bitter last time! And I can never complain about Tastosis; this should be awesome!
I think DJ.Wheat is awesome, but at the same time I feel like husky gets a bad rap. Sure he's not a top master's level player, but his casts are entertaining and he knows enough about the game to where he can provide some decent insight. Plus, he's always good about asking Day9 what his thoughts are when they cast together, which I think is great.
im sad that dj wheat is not there. he makes such a good combo with day9 and he's a much better caster than husky (but husky has more "fans" so I guess that is why they chose him).
Having Husky as a caster is a good thing for MLG since he has a huge fan base of people that just watch his YouTube videos. By bringing him on board, he will promote the tournament and get more people into watching competitive e-sports.
SO excited to see Tastosis coming back, I can never get enough of those two casting. I'm sad to not see DJWheat on the lineup though. I really like him and Day[9] together, they have awesome chemistry with each other. Day[9]/Husky is a pretty great combo too, so I can't complain very much haha.
I love all of their caster choices. I was a little unsure of Mr. Bitters at Anaheim, but was very pleasantly surprised. I am stoked to get to meet Tastosis! I really hope they come down and chat with people after the event. And I need Day[9] to sign my mouse pad. Husky signed it last MLG Raleigh, but Day was never able to come down from casting : /

So will Day[9] and Huskey solo cast on the blue stream (making it stream non-stop?) while Tastosis casts the most hyped games on the red stream?
That seems like the plan. Also means people present at the venue will be hearing Tastosis mostly, except when they're on break or whatever when you'll get Day [9] and Husky, or whatever their portmanteau name is.
Tastosis is the best ATM. They never miss anything, they know when to talk and they know when to Really talk. Man come on could you cast any better? No. It was not rhetoric

Yea evident by thread for the stream he and mr bitter casted last time having like 20 pages of posts after a whole entire day compared to several hundred on day9/djwheat's and the blue stream having so many less viewers Not saying that husky casting is a bad thing, its fine hes a decent caster and I don't care, but fanbois keep claiming hes gonna bring in so many more viewers and it doesnt really happen if we're being honest.
Feel a bit bad for day9, hope hes not upset about kinda taking the backseat on this one on the blue stream, since he only really gets to cast MLG regularly (as opposed to gsl every day) and hes very loyal to mlg. But tastosis are the best and I guess you can't really blame mlg because alot of fans would probably whine if tastosis didn't get to cast the best games, always see complaints about that..

Great lineup :D
Man, I agree. Hearing how Tasteless takes ladder points from nerds is the highlight of my GSL experience.

I do believe that most of his fans don't even bother to go here, so there's that.
Tastosis is there I freak the fuck out for a second see Day 9 is there cheer even harder. See husky replaced DJ Wheat break down and cry in a corner for awhile. Husky is meh I really think MLG should be bringing in the best not the low ballers.
Great to hear the casting archon is back and yeah Day9/Husky is a great combo. No idea why some people dislike him, but Husky has improved as a caster A LOT.
It will actually be hard to chose between the 2 streams. Hoping for HD on both so I will actually watch both at the same time! But who should I mute? I can't decide.
Good thing I'm going to be there, or else I would have to decide between the streams ! Husky / Day 9 sounds amazing, and I love Tastosis as well. Can't really lose !!
Great news regarding the return of Tasteless and Artosis, but at the same time, things will not be the same without Marcus. Though I don't have anything against Husky, but I believe there's other casters out there that I would rather see casting at MLG, if not only just to mix it up a little.
On August 12 2011 19:23 Cosmos wrote: NICE, no more mr bitter ! AWESOME NEWS !
This.
I didn't like the combination of Husky and MrBitter. They were like two radioactive hypermonkeys, mostly sparked by Husky.
However, if you watched the Blizzard Invitational Europe, you saw MrBitter cast together with Rotterdam which was awesome! Rotterdam being very laid back and MrBitter bringing the excitement.
If anything, I had prefered MrBitter to return instead of Husky. But I can imagine Husky doing very well together with Day[9] as well.
I guess what I'm trying to say is: MrBitter is great, just not together with Husky
I live in raleigh, and im competing in the sc2 even at this MLG. IF I get to where day9 or tastosis casts my game. I'll be the happiest gamer in the world.
Day[9] AND Huskey? I think I´ve got my new dream team... Day[9]Daily became too boring with the time, Huskey too excited from time to time. I think they make a perfect team, very hard decission against Tastosis <3 (perhaps both like to talk a bit to much, but time will tell)
Tastosis, being back is definitely one of the best things to happen to MLG, know we need to know the groups and all the invites, so we can be hyped as shit
Never really got why JP is hosting. He comes across very uninterested and isn't a typical host figure. (we need G2D!!) Other than that looking forward to it. I hope there wont be too many good games missed this time because of lunchbreaks.

I believe you mean James "2GD" Harding. That'll be too good to be true though. I think he got a fallout with MLG when commentating Quake on their July 4th event. He is too funny. Too bad MLG are stuck up "americans"...

Haha thats a real shame. 2GD is probably the best host to bless the Esports scene since... forever.
Not to take a shit on anybody. But with that all-star casting crew why would they need Husky (let's be honest, he is the least loved out of this lineup)? It seems like they would have enough without to cover two casting shifts as normal without him. Whatever, hopefully it balances out cause his casting imo is a nuisance.

Best memories of watching quake were definitely 2GD, that guy is well, too good .
Husky being the least loved out of Tastosis and Day9?....Isnt that every other caster in the world? Husky is good enough, he can even tell his youtube fans to go watch MLG. It helps ESPORTS you know....Just saying.
I'm happy that Husky will be back at MLG. I frequently listened to him instead of Day9+djWHEAT during the last MLG, however the games were so stacked that it really hurt sometimes (Day9 got all the good games).
But this time Day9 and Husky are together so I expect the games to be distributed less unfairly (Tastosis will obviously get better games).

I'm gonna have to agree with this, JP really doesn't have the character and appeal that the other casters possess (Day9, Wheat, Bitter, Tastosis etc)

LoL being at MLG is well and good, but it could't hold a candle to this excitement. Obviously Tastosis is boss, but I think the GSPA, as well as prior MLGs, proved that Day9 and Husky also make a pretty wicked team (the casting Dark Archon?) as well. Whichever stream you choose will be a win.

I think he does well enough casting. With all of his videos, I think he has really gotten a good grasp on what openings to expect based on gas timing, etc. Sure, he's no Day9 in my opinion as far as knowledge goes, but he does have a healthy following. His youtube channel has over 535,000 followers, versus Day9s 205,000. Granted, Day9 can be found so many other places and his blip page is much more current, but 500,000 followers is nothing to sneeze at. And as a business wouldn't you want someone with so many fans to help get the word out about your event?

Well at least they're bringing in Tastosis for us elitists who can't stand Husky. Good way to compensate for a bad decision MLG (tho I don't blame them, Husky could help MLG expand their target audience to the 6 to 12 years old range).
<3 Husky casting with day9 in GSPA, so I hope for more casting from them. Obviously looking forward to the tastosis also, imo MLG have the best they can have.
thats unfortunate, jp is boring and tasteless try too hard to make jokes and puns every 2 seconds that its rather annoying, the only people I really enjoyed were day9 and djwheat, husky is actually bearable as well because he doesnt make lame jokes every 2 seconds

Yeah that won't happen, Day9 already said that he wouldn't cast with his brother because they don't synergize well, they end up talking over each other xD
I want to see them try to dual cast, and then break down into a huge sibling argument and one of them storm off the stage in the middle of a game.
I love all the casters, especially Tastosis - love their energy and humorous casting... I really don't care for djWheat though, just don't like his casting, not as entertaining as the other casters.

Because they are mad that he has more fans than Day 9 and Tastosis combined.
So surprised that so many people are sad at djWHEAT missing. I mean, he is great for the scene, but as a commentator? Ehh.... then again, I don't like Day9 either, so maybe I'm crazy.

Like Day[9] said on SOTG, isn't it enough to have something you love, and to love it? Why do you also have to shit on things other people like to feel good about yourself?
Didnt you know, its cool to hate Husky!
Husky is a fine caster. Especially when paired with a caster who has great game knowledge. Husky and Day9 have casted together quite a bit and its one of my favorite duos. They work very well together.
What's kind of sad is that people here think Husky doesn't know anything about the game when he's high diamond. He knows more about the game than DJWheat.... He is also the most popular caster on Earth
I've never really liked Huskys videos but I feel he does a pretty good job at MLG, he seems to be a bit more professional imo. Can't wait for Raleigh now! Although I'll have to watch it from i43 in the UK! :DD

Since when was disliking something weird?
Oh the crazy world we live in.
At least I can look forward to Tastetosis.
It's more the fact that people like you keep crying like little girls about the same thing over and over again and making the rest of us very very tired of hearing the same old shit.
Your original post was just worthless, it doesn't contribute anything else than you going BAAAW! No one cares.
If djWHEAT is gone because of PAX then fair enough. Husky and MrBitter weren't bad last time and I think Day[9] can go really well with pretty much any co-commentator. He was phenomenal with TotalBiscuit, he was phenomenal with dApollo, he was phenomenal with Khaldor and he should be phenomenal with Husky. But as for the rest of the announcement, all I have to say about it is....
FUCK YEAH TASTOSIS ARE BACK!!!
What I would like to see in the MLG Raleigh Grand Finals is Day[9], Tasteless, Artosis and Husky quad-casting a game together on both the Red and Blue streams.

It will be day9 and husky, JP hasn't casted at an MLG in a while. He'll probably just be doing interviews like he has been.
YEAHHHH TASTOSIS! Tasteless secret hallway and Artosis pylon will be premium features I hope? Sad to see that there isn't Djwheat or Mr. Bitter, but Mr. Bitter is busy in EU with rotterdam!!!
I feel mr.bitter is the best if you're into playing the game. Artosis and tasteless go so freakin great with cheese burgers. Dunno why but I will be one fat fuck unless GSL goes off the Internet ;-)
I'm kinda glad WHEAT isn't there. I never really liked his casting. His synergy with Day was quite good, but apart from that he is really lacking imo. Especially when it comes to game knowledge. Now Husky isn't that knowledgeable either, but he knows it and doesn't try to be. He's a better play by play commentator than WHEAT and concentrates on this skill of his.
Guys, dont miss Wheat that much, im glad his in pax, cant wait to see some GW2 PvP action casted by Wheat, his the esports man, and the lineup is still sick anyways. Thanks for the good work as always MLG, cant wait to see how LoL end up working on the pro circuit and of course another amazing sc2 tournament
Im kinda glad that we are going to have an MLG without Wheat, I personally dont like his casting that much its barely tolerable for me when he is casting with Day9, but he often says a lot of things which are completely wrong and misjudges quite a number of situations and gets all loud and excited when anyone in his right mind can see that the game is definitely over. So nah I wont miss DJw that much..

Posting a dissenting opinion in a thread makes the post worthless?

T_____T MLG will not be the same without the true casting archon.
Well there u go u silly boy, u want the true Casting Archon, U GOT IT, MLG is giving u that (Tastosis) action we all want need and love so much. If thats not what u were asking for by saying "True Casting Archon" then u should do some research and educate urself a lil bit. GL
I absolutely love Day[9], and while Husky isn't my favorite caster I think that the two should work great together! All of the casters here will provide great entertainment, although I am also a person who might miss WHEAT.

I'll miss Wheat but i gotta admit the few times Husky and Day9 co-casted were really solid. Just gotta hope the top players aren't super dominant and the streamed games don't have such obvious predicted results.

MrBitter is a full-time ESL caster now. No more MLGs.
On the positive side, you can see him cast 20+ hours every week now instead of once every couple months.
Husky is tolerable when paired with Day9 because Sean is one of the few casters who has enough authority to control Husky's incessant blabbering (he's used to do from his solo casting).
