Ok so from what I gather from this and the Puma/EG issue:

Coach Lee thinks it's acceptable to withhold salaries that have been agreed under good faith without signing a legally binding contract, but defames Puma/EG when Puma was not himself contracted. Childish, unprofessional... the whole situation with this bloke and TSL seems pretty fucked to me if this is the case.

Please tell me that this isn't the norm in Korean competitive gaming.

Apparently all of your conlcusion after your "gathering" is all wrong and almost have nothing to do with this thread -_-

This is unfortunate and sad for korean SC2, it's never pretty when an argument is judged by the public opinion..

2 points:

-Coach Lee is not a saint
-EG is not that evil

Pretty much this.

It's good for people to realize that there's more than one side to the story, and that what the main consensus may believe isn't always right.

A shame to see all this crap being thrown around left and right, but at the very least it'll teach a valuable lesson. Hopefully, one that does not have to be repeated.

Can you please explain how? Not trying to be ignorant but maybe I've missed some key details?

Yes, the TSL coach has nothing to do with this thread.

This is actually sad. I hope the parties concerned learned from this experience.

at least this will be a good lesson for all teams to learn.
I mean korea had been doing esport bigger and longer than anywhere else (as far as I know), it's kind of strange to see how problem like "no contract, relying only on good faith" can still occur

If I don't work, I don't get paid. How is that wrong? Maybe it wasn't in the contract, but bashing Coach Lee for this is just stupid.

Honestly I think what Coach Lee did is fair. Trickster/Fruitdealer don't practice? They don't get paid. Do you expect your boss to pay you if you don't show up for work either?

I agree that in theory what he did was right, but you can't just ignore contracts. The contracts should be designed in a way that takes account of practice time, probably through bonuses, that way players have motivation to practice. From the sounds of it TSL has been being run awfully, the team is basically the top players from just after release, who wanted a more relaxed practice regime. Add to that some sponsorship money so they could afford to pay some of those players wages meant that their results suffered and some of the players with wages got too comfortable.

I'm speculating here, but I imagine maybe the sponsors threatened to cut some of the funding and either because of that, or at a similar period, some of the players on TSL decided they wanted to improve the results, which lead to Fruitdealer and Trickster being confronted.

Because the whole thing about Puma is not about he defaming Puma or Puma being lusted by money and leave TSL, its about EG approaching Puma behind Lee's back, which is unacceptable. But that's another story and it alsmost has nothing to do with this thread and we should stop talking about that.

I don't know why people keep bringing up EG when this brings no new information about that situation. No matter if they were right or wrong, they're no more right or wrong now even if coach Lee is literally the manifestation of the devil.
Additionally half the people criticizing EG were focusing on their communication with the foreign community anyway.

I don't get the "we're kicking you guys out but you can still play" thing. Granted, it would be rough on the players if TSL wasn't allowed to participate - and I don't really know how Korean team contracts work. It just seems like a bare formality.

Note: I'm not saying blame one way or another, it's just that the action taken doesn't make sense to me no matter who's right or wrong.

Contract's are always 2-way, never 1-way. FD/Trickster gets money but what does TSL get? Since thats pretty much what you mean by saying contracts didnt take into account practice times.

TSL' sponsors have already reduced funding.

Either coach Lee is an asshole, which he is probably not, or he's a crappy manager to allow a team to scramble for pennies with such humiliation. I always was and will be on Tester's and FD's side because they were the ones who initially formed TSL.

One thing I have learned, and this is not in reference to coach lee as I dont know the true situation. Is that you cannot trust the players association.

I may dive into the reasons why in a different post/thread and not hijack this one.

This is why we need a goverment approved body like Kespa for SC2. Or I really hope that Kespa and Blizzard will come to an agreement soon so Kespa can manage the legal aspect of SC2 too.
