Just got this email. It looks like NASL may have taken the MLG replay situation as an opportunity to pounce on:
NASL Season One Replays Hello guys! Hope everyone has been enjoying some quality Starcraft II time in the past several weeks. Many of you have been sending us questions, asking about replays. We are pleased to announce that we are indeed releasing replays for Season 1! Where can you find them? I'm at work, so I can't check. But it's 53 MB, so there are definitely a lot of replays in there.

It seems to be for everyone. Also, you cannot sell replays, so I don't think they could charge even if they wanted to.

I think it is great they are releasing the replays, but at the same time many of those replays are from a vastly different metagame than we have now so I don't know how useful it might be. Very cool nonetheless.

I asked because last time I talked to one of their mods on stream they told me replays won't be released at all. Nice surprise, I guess. Watch and learn, MLG!

I suspect that they just sent the email to subscribers, but figured there was no way to prevent them from getting out to everyone else, so they'll just let that happen on its own.

MLG, take notes. 
Also, I'm so glad they packed these replays properly, separating them into weeks and divisions and such. MLG replay packs are usually just everything stuck into one .zip, and you have to categorize them yourself.

The work when I extract them, maybe something to do with not having the maps, and trying to load the game directly from an archive. But yeah, just extract them and watch em.

Excellent news! I congratulate NASL for doing this. Releasing replays will help the esports community as a whole as it raises the bar of SC2 games in general by giving us the opportunity to study from the masters.

Meh. Are we supposed to celebrate this? I had to struggle through audio issues, video editing faux pas, and a finals that should've been called: Blair Witch 2: NASL.

I would recommend going to nasl.tv/Videos and looking at all of the featured videos. They were chosen specifically based on the quality of the games, each division/week. That would be a good place to start and then work your way down.
And don't forget to check out the finals!

Releasing the replays makes a lot of sense. This allows everyone to dissect the builds of Korean players and learn them a lot faster.

Must just be my sc2 install, but for some reason I cant load up any of the finals (MC vs Puma) replays. My sc2 is just a black screen, anyone know why? (I know this is kinda not on topic, was just wondering cause I really want to see these replays!)
Edit: Never mind I figured out a way to make it work. I couldn't launch it directly from windows, had to put the replays in my replays folder and then only after signing into sc2 and running the replay from there would it load up the older version of sc2.

I get mixed up because there's so many games, but NASL grand finals was where July was using a pretty nice +2 roach timing attack in ZvZ, right?

to those people who think these are old in the metagame, these replays are NOT that old. a lot of these builds are still gonna have A LOT of practical use for the bronze-low masters player up to probably about a few months from now. again thx NASL

If there's blank folders that means that the games were walkovers and someone couldn't make it/failed to show up. There shouldn't be any actually missing replays.

I think u only get it when u double click it in windows. It's cos u don't have maps dl'ed. Just start one when u're using SC. It'll dl map and that u will be able to watch them by double clicking.

That's alot of replays. I like this desicion by NASL. There's alot of awesome games in there. Both for stealing builds, but also just to watch myself.

so this may help some, or be totally obvious to others, either way..
to watch a large batch of old replays without having to login/reload the game for each one:
associate .sc2replay files with ..\StarCraft II\Support\SC2Switcher.exe (by default theyre opened by sc2.exe)
then alt-f4 from the game at the end of the replay (otherwise it autoloads current sc2 into login screen)
1issue: you'll get black screen for any replay where you dont have the map, to fix this, first load your regular sc2 and double click each replay (yes it wont work for 600 games, but you can generally dl all maps from a single round replays), this will download the map first, then prompt u to load old sc, just cancel and click another replay.

Only thing that sucks is that because the season was *so* old, a lot of these replays are well behind the current metagame.

I agree that the finals were only weeks ago, but keep in mind that the first games being played were what, 4 months ago? That's ages in the life span of the game. I'm not saying this as a jab at NASL, I just think that the metagame for some of the earlier matches is different enough from our current metagame that they won't be all that useful.
As the season progresses though, and certainly for the finals and final bracket, those games will be closer to what the game looks like right now and will be of more use.
