If given time, it will grow and swell, if it is on TV. You can't expect it to be a massive hit instantly. It needs to grow. Yes, SC2 is at a disadvantage now, but that is what I am trying to convey. Because of GOM's exclusive deal, it hasn't caught on. Nobody is watching it because it isn't convenient like how BW is. You turn on the TV and you see two pros going at it, or at least a reality show about a celebrity becoming a pro. Its everywhere.
Your friends' mood reflects that. Sure, it may be a great game, but they haven't seen enough of it to judge. This again goes back to GOM's deal.
MBC Game and OGN HAVE to get in on SC2 for it to gain any ground whatsoever in Korea.

Kind of, but this is the center of why Tae Dong moved and why SK and oGs have that deal, why Puma left etc. You can go on. Blizzard's asinine deal is at the center of it.

So no word on if Dignitas asked the team manager if they could sign him? interesting.

Yes yes yes!
Tandongho has been playing amazingly lately, people should be sure to check out his stream whenever he's live. He's featured on TL now so it should be easy to see.
Dignitas are going to look super scary after this, truly amazing player of every race.

EG should learn from this.

This move makes sense since he's moving out of Korea for school anyways. He might as well join a foreign team.

This is pretty awesome. SC2 is indeed looking like global e-sports now, I was worried that it might go down a road similar to SCBW since the difference between foreigners and koreans have been growing.

It says coach Yoon of Zenex HELPED him ("looking into relevant information").

Huh? Tan Dong Ho left to study... not really because of popularity of SC2 in foreign world as far as I know.

How does one learn about a player moving to Europe to study and actively seek a new team to join? Completely different situation.
People need to seriously give this shit a rest and let it be about Tan, not about tan vs puma.

I know, but I am for sure money and the foreigner scene was a contributing factor.

I'm not entirely sure about that since it costs A LOT of money (probably more lost than gained) to be studying in an international university all things considered. Most of the international students at my uni are either really smart with a scholarship or really rich. Plus if you're studying, you probably won't do as well and win as much money as you could.
But then again, I can't really make any definitive statement until I hear Tan Dong Ho speak about his motivations and see how much money he actually gets from Dignitas. I'll admit that it's more logical for me personally to let education be the deciding factor over progaming career of where to go, but I don't know what Tan Dong Ho as a person is like so can't say for sure.

Everyone is getting a Korean nowadays. Well, I mean they had Select already, but I've always considered him pretty much a foreigner with how long he's been around here.
|
Koreans are definitely starting to see that there's easier money to be made outside of Korea!
Good stuff for Dignitas!

Good luck to Tae Dong in england and I hope he will perform well with dignitas!

As you say, completely different set of circumstances, but it's really just that Dignitas acquired a player with so much less drama than EG. It's unfortunate for EG (lol, or fortunate for Dignitas?) that this news was released just after the drama llama over the past few days. I, for one, am relieved to just see some news in this forum that doesn't make me want to headdesk; I'm sure others feel the same, and they're just reacting by making slight digs at EG and its PR. Nothing serious.

Its going to be a mad dash to grab Korean players i think. Hopes teams lock em under contract soon fast.
But this is good news for Dignitas nevertheless.

Cool news... welcome to England and best of luck . I have a mate who goes to the main Manchester Uni, so thats pretty cool aswell
