It was stupid for him to say that "jessica is a joke" but his opinions are completely valid. Posting that he is an idiot or douche or whatever or fighting about it is pretty dumb unless you are actually addressing specific points in his post.
Nobody called him a douche or an idiot. Just a direspectful prick. And he doesn't have arguments or points.
I have no problem with other people argumenting or presenting points on how she might overreact, but coming here to randomly insult players/ coaches teams... seems to be the latest trend on TL lately and that's starting to annoy me.

Hmmm. I understand the whole motion that some consequences should be taken if a threat is made against anyone over the internet because it became a joke over the years. If a serious threat is present then it should be taken seriously. However; I cannot accept the whole subtext of sexism that is in this post.
but in reality, it is no mean feat for a female to reach Master level while laddering against males. That is completely sexist. How can gender play in a game of Starcraft 2? Skill does not factor in gender. The whole notion that gender plays any role in a player's skill to play a certain game is ridiculous. I cannot support something somewhat serious when it is turned into a whole different discusion. I wholeheartedly hope that everything works out for the best for you, Eve and the whole SlayerS team, but I sincerely hope you rethink the whole situation here and how you are viewing it.
Good Luck.

If this case really did end up in court it will be a PR disaster for Slayer. Unless most people in Korea agrees with her handling of this matter.

What are you implying here...? That SC1 had a lot of great talent that made it difficult for a woman to break through and shine and since SC2 is in its young stages this is the perfect opportunity to begin getting girls into the scene before it is too late. except that her own statement makes it seem as if it is impossible for a non-male to compete... ( from her own OP ) when it isn't... the OP herself makes it seem as if they aren't equal...when they are...
She is only showing how hard it is for a female to compete when it is dominated by males. It is the same case with Netball. It is mostly females playing that game....

the people making fun of jessica/boxer/slayers have no idea what's going on. these people are growing e-sports. they are trying to add females to the competitive scene, and some people just don't appreciate that.

I hope the next TL attack has SlayerS Eve. So we can watch her smash through male NA master players and silence the haters.

Women should not be treated any different than men when playing this game... Everyone is trolled at some point in their life. Hell there is a video of most of the pro male players doing that weird boy band dance that many people would consider "gay" or to have homosexual tendancies.. They didn't complain about it. Just because someone says something, or photoshops something, or makes accusations doesn't mean that it is real or serious. Just because Eve or Jessica is a girl doesn't make it any more wrong to slander against anyone else. To make people believe that slander against women is more offensive or somehow more wrong than slander against men is sexist and overall pretensious. I actually feel very sad for our online community to hold women in a higher postion than men in the sense of that we cannot insult women any more than we insult men, or that insulting women somehow has deeper or greater effect. Knowing what an amazing person Jessica is, if people started photoshopping MMA or Ryung's body on a pornstar and starting calling them trash, she would react the same way. She's protecting her players from a ruthless environment. I understand your argument but I would suggest you do more reading on the internet culture in Korea. It's unlike anything we have here in the West. It's more than just that Eve was female, that's not the point of her retaliation. It's the pictures and the severity of them. The whole culture itself is very different ( I don't expect everyone to know that) and public image is enormous in Korea. So pictures like that and comments like the ones written have a much larger impact than it might in teh US or Canada. It may seem hard to believe but the basic core structure of society functions very differently in Asia and Korea specifically. So yes, what happened to Eve was atrocious and yet it deserved action. No, not because she's a woman, but because she's a professional Starcraft II player. The thing is, when you say you recruited a player partially because she is "pretty," you are bringing some of the criticism upon yourself. If you recruit a male player because he looks handsome, you bet that a ton of people are going to be commenting on his sexuality and criticize him if he isn't a top notch player - This is not to say that Eve deserved all the negative backlash - She did not at all. But I think people should separate constructive criticism and crazy hate mail. I am still going to support SlayerS, Eve, and Jessica because they are all awesome and working hard - but I think women in e-sports will grow organically - IT ALREADY HAS if you haven't noticed main stream gaming websites. Either way, it takes guts to make this move, and I have huge respect for them. I hope she proves me wrong and becomes an amazing player.
Fair point. It was a poor reason to use in the announcement. And I agree that it certainly doesn't imply Eve deserves any of the hate she's gotten. I will say though that I also think a girl gaming in Korea and a girl gaming in America, Canada, France, etc. is very different. Again, the cultures have some enormous fundamental differences and so while Jessica maybe she should have used different reasons originally, I'm not sure the female scene in KOREA is growing as organically as it is in teh West. But either way, what it comes down to (it seems) is that we both agree what happened to Eve was atrocious and we both want Slayers, Jessica, Boxer, Cella, Eve, and the rest of the team to succeed.

SlayerS_Jessica hwaiting!!!!
Good job jessica stay strong! You too lim yohwan!

I love it when Jessica takes it to the public and clarifies everything because it shows more insights of the situation plus she gives more views on what a programer, manager and fans should be acting as. We seriously can't blame her for being protective over her players, team or herself because firstly, she's a celebrity and secondly, she's the manager of SlayerS. She need to take these steps to get hold on the fans and at the same time, protect their reputation.
Thanks Jessica, and all the best! I'll be supporting you!! SlayerS and Emperor, too HWAITINGGGGGGGG!

There are girls in GM outside of Korea, and inside I am sure at the very least there are master leaguers at very high skill levels, so your argument you make in your opening paragraphs for why you invited someone who is "gold" (? you don't make this clear) is weak. --
"If you condemn her to be unworthy for not becoming a Master in under a month, " - has she been playing for only a month? is she truly not Master? there are CERTAINLY girls in master in Korea
"She is here to make the game more entertaining" - how?
"how would female players anywhere ever even attempt to make it in Starcraft?" - they have done so already

This is where you lose me... The admission that even though she's not really good enough, she made the team because she's a girl. This is exactly why people give her shit. Exactly. Jessica recruited a girl to make SlayerS stand out more, to "peacock" as a team through methods other than skillful players -- Korean netizens got mad at this. Many of us in America also find this to be disappointing, *especially* when there are certainly more-deserving master league korean females who you presumably didn't choose based on looks or something. -_-
final edit -- and you are insulting females as a gender and your own player by making it seem they are inherently worse than males at SC2. they aren't, they are just less interested in it (in GENERAL) so they either never play it or don't play it much. however, the small minority that DO try to get good do indeed get very good.

I don't know whether you are saying that as sarcasm or not, but in any case I believe this is a wonderful idea and HAS TO BE DONE!!! I would pay for that!!!

I greatly admire you for coming to TL and posting this yourself. To have such involvement from someone like you.. truly great.
Thank you Jessica, and no matter what others say, I will still always be a fan of you, BoxeR and SlayerS!

I got no idea why being female all of a sudden drew so much attention to SlayerS_Eve :/ Maybe it's just me, but I see SlayerS more as a StarCraft 2 team, then ... something related to the pop-culture. The only problem on that side with Eve, regardless of her gender or division (skill), is that she's just "yet another Terran" in Boxer' SlayerS :/ I never cared about other opinions. Specially about sexist comments or rude jokes. Hope everything turns out well for the whole SlayerS team ! Boxer fighting !!! :D

Best of luck to you in the future Jessica, thank you for sharing your side of the story and helping out your team! Hwaiting!

Now that both sides of the argument spoke, I am fully convinced that Jessica is right. Most of us support you, and will continue to do so as well as your new team member.

There are certainly women outside Korea who are masters or above. No doubt about it. I think that's a very different story in Korea. I could be misunderstanding, but I believe the Korean ladder is much smaller (population wise) as compared to NA or EU server. So there very well may be a super small number of women playing. It's also much more difficult to play as a woman in Korea because of the culture (very different expectations of behavior). So I believe Slayers_Jessica wanted to help girls in Korea; and in so doing, inspire girls outside of Korea as well.
I think by "more entertaining" I think Jessica meant high quality games but maybe not GSL champion quality.

She is acting way too dramatic, and I dunno why she is trying to control the internet, its never going to change. If you can't handle criticism then don't try to be famous/known.
I can't express enough how ignorant over half the shit she said was.
User was temp banned for this post. hahhahaha, ohh the irony XD please read your own post. gayeon noonim, just remember there are countless more people giving you and slayers support than bad mouthing like some immature troll.
The guy you quoted is not immature at all. An immature troll is someone who just posts some random comment about Eve's appearance. This guy may have been tactless in his approach. But, I 100% agree that women can be just as skilled as men in SC. There is nothing to my knowledge holding them back besides the culture. So, I respect the decision to sign a female player to encourage other potential female players to come out and give the proper effort. It also may encourage other teams to be open to recruiting female players.

who actually gives a shit ? ok people sent you hatemails, but you don't even know those people , why should you care ? so easily trollable, it's rediculous, and I'm probably going to get banned because I'm not supporting this stupid drama as they say, koreans are really drama-queens.
