I think most people here support the Slayers team and their projects, and by posting here they show that they care about their foreign fans.

Big thumbs up and keep up the good work!

I don't really think, it's a bad thing having Eve on the team, the only thing that bothers me is it sounds a touch like Jessica is being a hypocrite.

On one hand, she's talking about how girls are equals to me, can do amazing things, and so on, even in Starcraft (which she herself is a perfect example of). On the other hand, she's decided to bring almost a token girl onto the team, and talking as if girls are precious flowers than need extra encouragement and don't start on an even footing.

I mean, I sort of see where she's coming from, but equally It seems like shes doing more damage than good bring Eve on board? Has she been active in smaller events and so on? Is she effectively a b-team player to represent the team in smaller tournaments? I just don't see what Eve's actual position on the team is.

I really appreciate you coming here and posting this. I'm a huge fan of SlayerS, and I always support you guys.

However, I must respectfully disagree with the decision. I am not here to disrespect Eve or SlayerS- but I will say that I have a fundamental problem if she is being paid a salary - The reason this is fundamentally wrong is because there are males who are working probably twice as hard as her and not getting money out of it. As far as research shows, there are not disabilities for girls in terms of Starcraft 2 ability as there are in many physical sports - so they should be expected to compete at the highest level against males.

If she is not being paid a salary, then I have no problem with it. She deserves a chance to train with really good practice partners and improve - I truly hope that she takes the opportunity seriously and improves - I expect no less : )

I definitely see your point and see how we must support women to get them more involved in the scene. I also respect your courage to make this move, and I will continue to support SlayerS. However, I have to say that I disagree - and I hope that you won't mix up constructive criticism and hate mail, because I love SlayerS !!!!!!

This needs to be sorted out. There is no reason at all a female player cannot match a male player in SC2. The survival of the game long term depends on the level of inclusiveness it obtains this is an extremely positive step slayers has taken, and this harassment is beyond the pale. In all honesty anyone doing this is directly damaging the e-sports scene.

To Slayers Jessica:

Thank you for this post. Your english is not perfect, but i can still feel the pain that seems to be going out from your message. Never stop to post just because you think you could be missunderstood. If you need help at posting, there are enough people at TL that could help you with that, just ask for help and you will get it from people who are qualified, believe me. There are numerous people in this community that helped to translate korean to english (e.g Milkis, for lack of any other translators.... so sry for being ignorant), so if you need help, you just need to ask for it, and i am sure someone qualified will help you. Never be afraid to ask for help.

To the whole situation:

So there is a girl who joined a popular team. She is being harrased online by people who think that they can do anything in the anonymity of the internet. It turns out, that in korea you can actually do something against that.
If you ask me ... go as far as you can go. Punish those people as hard as you can, so that sometime in the future people online might acutally think before they post, or they may actually try to behave like they would normally do in a day to day situation. Well since i am a SC2 fan i belive in FOU and i will always fight for it. :-p

<3 Slayers ... <3 Boxer and <3 Slayers_Jessica for her dedication for the Slayers-Team.

Hi Jessica and the rest of SlayerS!

I completely agree with your view. Online bullying should not be tolerated and anything you can do to protect your players, you should. I hope SlayerS will continue to be awesome and that Eve will be at the forefront of a new era of women in SC2!

This whole argument about whether the fact that SlayerS_Eve is female should effect how she is recruited is identical to the argument over affirmative action Def.

If you accept that it is inherently harder for female gamers to break into the scene because of under-representation then the easiest way to help increase the speed of movement towards increased gender equality is to allow for things like women only tournaments and the acquisition of women to pro teams that might not have qualified in an open tournament against men.

If you decide that their should be no affirmative action concerning females in SC2 pro gaming than the likelihood that their will be any females succeeding is greatly reduced. This is bad for the sport because in the end, the growth of the sport is based on viewer numbers and advertising money. Female involvement in SC2 will increase both due to increased appeal to the other half of the population as a whole and increased interest from current viewer group due to special interest; can a female gamer compete etc.

Hope to see Eve perform well in the future with a nice team to practice with

And while there might be a bit of over reaction, I fully understand Jessica's response to the hate mail, protecting her player is the most important.

Well said mate!

I also believe that in order to have the best StarCraft 2 competitive community possible, women should be brought into it too and encouraged to participate at the same skill level of men.

I am hugely disappointed by many of you guys that posted in this forum.

Why can't you understand the fact that Eve was accepted into Slayers because she represents their investment into a different market? It doesn't matter that she is sub-par when compared to the male progamers. They are promoting girl's SC2 gaming scene. This could turn out to be something huge, you never know.

Think about Tossgirl in BW. Girl's league in BW blossomed into something big, even though it didn't last. Nonetheless, I think the investment STX put into her is justified in monetary values.

Yes it'll be nice to see her become a progamer that can battle male progamers toe to toe.
But even if that doesn't happen, I believe slayers and eve are doing a noble challenge.
Come get some

Isn't the whole point of girls succeeding in progaming, supposed to be that they arent treated as girls, but as a player. I don't really know how you can promote the growth of girls playing, when you recruit a girl simply because shes cute and wants to play. Isn't the argument that they wanted to be treated as equals? I'm confused, maybe im clueless. Just my opinion.

Iunno why anyone cares whether or not eve is diamond. I bet there are other prospects chosen by slayers that we were unaware of, and they might not have been highly rated either.

Still, I think jessica blowing all of this up is the wrong way to go. Even this post on TL. Not that it wasn't a kind gesture to the foreign community, but it's just fueling the flames. I think SlayerS is better off completely stepping away from this until eve actually plays her first match.

Ok, I love you Jessica but I have to write this.

The exact moment you signed Eve into Starcraft 2 team this sort of reaction should be expected.
It is a male predominant e-sport, no one was surprised to hear the things that were said, except you. The moment you start trying to fight it, is the moment it starts getting out of hand. And you did just that.

It could have been a reasonably calm arrival of Eve into the Slayers team, and hopefully, a calm, steady entering of the other sex into the pro scene. Instead, it turned into something like this, I am quite disappointed in the way it was handled.

You're amazing Jess I have long admired you. I don't think you or anyone on SlayerS deserves an iota of the hate they get. It makes me sad that people post the awful things they do, as if they are worthy enough to criticise anyone. I'll always be cheering for you guys in GSL, GSTL, and everywhere else!

Fighting!!

As Jessica said herself, she overreacted a little bit, no big deal. I think everything she has done aside from that is a great thing. I hope her, Eve, and anyone else affected by what has recently happen will be able to put it aside in the future and come out stronger for this. Eve looks like a very pretty girl, so the fact that people turned her into some pornographic images is disgusting and I hope these people are fully punished. I expected to see some criticism from this, but from what I've heard it has gone way beyond that.

I look forward to seeing Eve play whenever/wherever it may be because nobody living in the same house as SlayerS_Boxer can be looked at as an amateur, so I'm sure we will one day see her in the booth!

Anyways, Fighting!! And continue what you've been doing!! <3

1. Eve is a grown woman and should be able to handle herself
2. You cannot censor the internet

I can empathize because I had a friend in highschool who committed suicide, I used to always get into fights with the people who would tease her, but I wish now that I instead would have talked to her more about her self-image and why she believed so much of what had been said, helping her deal with the issues instead of trying to get rid of it. It would have been great to sue every single person that said anything bad, but it's not going to stop it from ever happening again. Part of life is being able to take insult or at least ignore it.

I am a huge fan of Slayers, and as much as I'd love to jump on board, I still can't see your point. Maybe it's the cultural differences, but it just looks like the case of the person suing McDonalds because the coffee was too hot. What did you think it would be?

Jessica does so much for her team. She is a very admirable leader!

It is sad to see how fast things get out of proportion via the internet in Korea. It seems people are too eager to find a fragile story and turn it into something its not just for excitement. Can't wait to see Eve's potential harnessed
