All I'm saying is that the best basketball player in the world makes hundreds of millions of dollars, owns multiple houses and cars, and the whole world is willing to bend over backwards to make them happy. He represents a massive investment, and both the team and player have way more to lose by breaking a contract. Puma lived in the same house with ten other guys, slept on a bunk bed like a ten year old boy, and probably made as much as a cashier at McDonald's. Sure, Korea could try to form a professional organization to regulate and control players, but they would be huuuuuuuuggggge dicks if they did, considering how little some of these players make considering the amount of time and commitment they're expected to give.

yeah cause the west surely has a good starcraft scene infrastructure that everyone should follow right? more like there's basically no structure because there's no governing body...

FXOBoss sure didn't consult drewbie and catz and ask them for their permission. Is this a disrespecting Korean ethics thing? Cause stuff like this is very common when players switch teams in the west. Idk. But as far as I know...Neither drewbie or Catz is korean. Or FXO boss. I don't think they follow korean ethics.

And I assume it's from sc2immvp's twitter, but would love to see a link as there are people that are not used to twitter >.<'. (yes, I never used it, never will. xD) Always find it annoying when people just quote randomly something from a side and I have to guess where it comes from. EDIT: whoa the quote was f*** up.

My bet is that Puma wanted to be on a more successful team, practicing with better players. Wow, just wow..... is this what is referred as trolling or are you the biggest blindest fanboy ever?

What IS bad that another foreign team is wasting money paying wages to a korean instead of one of foreign players. That money ( wich im sure is a substantial amount i dont think anyone would disagree ) could have been used in so many ways to help foreigners catch up to the koreans. Instead its wasted on a terrible PR move and another soon to be falling behind ( he moved out of the team house ) korean pro-gamer. This is even worse than the SK move. Get your head out of your ass EG&co.

And while Puma was certainly able to say no, I imagine that EG would not even bring it up if they weren't 100% sure that they could make an offer that was better than anything TSL could have offered (Korean SC2 teams are not as well off because all the big bucks go to the Brood War players who are already well known and in the spotlight a lot more). What would you think if your girlfriend went to another state/city/country to go to a conference with people who knew she was going out with you, and yet some rich guy there stole her anyway. It's not the fact that they got Puma as much as it was basically EG flipping the bird to the entire team and to a lesser extent, all of korea, by saying "hey, so most of our players aren't as good are yours, whatever, we can just buy your players up even though you have them contracted because we have tons more money than you". TSL's staff and coaches spent time, energy and capital to make sure their players could succeed and do well. Their result? A player poached before he can even pay off, by a time that failed to even get a SINGLE PLAYER into the top 16 of the competition he was competing in. The reaction? I wouldn't be surprised to see teams keep their players (at least their top ones) in korea (with the exception of FXO) to simply safeguard their talent pools. EG in my opinion, has not only cemented the old Brood War concept that Koreans are simply the best, but they have also set back many of the ties that had been building as a result of cooperation between various organizations (TL-oGs, FXO/fOu, Dreamhack, GSL/MLG). This is bigger than one player, it is the precedent that Foreign teams can poach their top talent. I wish PuMa the best of luck, but EG's move is in my opinion, inconsiderate, exploitative, and a damaging blow to Korean/Foreign relations in SC2. Poor Show Quoted for truth, people are not looking far enough here, this will be a thorn in the side of korean and foreign sc2 communities and could cause Korea to "close" its borders and then we would have BW all over again because as it stands, Koreans atm are just that much better than foreigners (aside from a VERY selected few foreigners).

It's tantamount to defending good ol' boy white male preferentialism because it's rooted in regional cultural values. The "employer/employee" relationship isn't an analogy, it's a fact. This isn't a martial arts movie, this is real life. People need to earn money to live, and they do so by working for organizations that pay them for it. Ah, complete disrespect of another culture. Sorry but not everyone is greedy like in the West. So you know how in this recession in the USA, CEOs are giving themselves and other high-ranking employees raises when there's no spare cash to be throwing around? Well there was some article about a Japanese CEO (of a huge company, FYI) who lowered his pay to either that of the average employee or even to nothing (can't remember which one it was) and had his lunch in the common cafeteria with the average employees. Something about respect and not wasting money when there's nothing to be spared. It's the same in Korea and plenty of other Asian countries. Family and respect, not individualism and capitalism.
