Why would they expect EG to talk to the coaches rather than the player? The player is the one signing the contract. I can't understand why someone would be angry about EG's actions in this scenario. Their reaction is pretty stupid and demeaning to the player.

So apparently the ONLY people who deserve to be treated fairly in the esports business are the players? Let's just forget the hundreds/thousands of people that work tirelessly behind the scenes to help and support esports. Coach Lee gave his time to help the players of TSL become who they are.
Yeah as if COACH LEE hasnt benefited from having such amazing players willing to play for his team? All things come to an end evnetually. Big deal. As a coach he should know you dont put all your eggs in one basket so he shouldnt expect that any of his players will be around forever. Thats what all coaches in all sports have to deal with. Get over it already.

It is certainly not this way in the west...
Of course if Puma is violating some contract then there's a legal issue, but nobody seems to be accusing anybody of breach of contract. Why all the rage? It is that way in the West.
Seriously wtf jobs do you work? It is not that way in the west.. AT ALL.
Everyone who thinks it is must seriously be 14 and jobless or... I honestly don't know.

This is going to make Koreans start generalizing foreigners and be scared of sending their players outside of korea. thus weakening the scene.

I think that EG did this wrong, and that is my opinion. GL to TSL and EG

Of course EG has the 'right' to do this. However I dont think its respectful towards TSL to approach a player directly. As mentioned, in professional sports moves like this are forbiden outside of the transfer window for obvious reasons. If we want eSPORTS to grow and especially become more professional, moves like this shouldn't be tolerated in my opinion.
hello i agree
But there is no transfer season and no professional sports teams will ever talk to another team for a player unless it is forced, because the team with the player most likely wants to keep the player and hinder any transfer.

That's not the way hiring works in the United States, no. Informing your boss that you are looking for another job is professional and common courtesy, but you don't need the permission of your boss to get hired away (excluding situations involving no-compete clauses).

EG did nothing wrong. They went to the player, who the ultimate decision belongs to, and sent him an offer. He thought about it, he talked to his coach about it, he accepted it.
Get off your high horse and stop all of the crying. Yeah agree, Its just funny some ( most of the TL ) posters think they have the right to decide whats right or wrong and judge people.
Isn't that exactly what you're doing? Posting because you think that people posting are wrong and EG is right?
On topic. I feel this could have been handled by EG way better, but I don't think they are in the wrong. IF Puma wasn't under contract then it just comes off as a lack of respect, if he was then it's worse.

Good pickup for EG. Finally they will have another top-tier skilled player other than idra.

EG:"Hey we're going to offer Puma a contract" TSL:"But he plays for us" EG: "Is he contracted" TSL: "No"
/5 minutes later
Puma: "Hey EG offered me a contract that guarantees my lifestyle instead of being strung along as a free agent mercenary" TSL: "Oh no"
IT changes nothing. The only way this course of action changes is if TSL doesn't tell Puma, and EG never goes to Puma privately. Then we have a whole different issue of TSL screwing Puma over. Which would you have preferred? Hm?
Just because everything is done legally correct does not make the situation right. Obviously you're going to have people question their way of doing business and whether it is morally right or not.
As you can tell by multiple posts here (which is the community, which matters a heck of a lot), doing business "the right way" is a lot different than doing everything "legally".

Wow, just wow, I knew this trend of koreans to foreign teams would continue, but for one of the most talented up and coming former BW pro's to jump ship is insane.
I feel really bad for TSL, you have this very promising new talent that is starting to perform crazy good, then he goes to one foreigner event, gets back and says "hey yeah I got an offer from this foreign team and I will be leaving to join them." Thats rough, I feel really bad for them, they seem pretty hurt used words like disgusted and disturbing.
Not sure about this for Puma either, I mean he loses the ability to train in a team house, and as far as I can see from the post, he won't be joining the EG house in the states so they must have offered him a salary that was substantial enough for him sacrifice that.

Stop posting the same thing over and over.
And talk about generalization.

Maybe they should've approached the coach first, but regardless the final decision should remain with the player and he made his decision so I don't really have a problem with this at all.

The difference is that SC is (aspires to be) a sport. You don't negociate with a player from another team behind the coaches/management's back. Surely you see the issue with that?
