Wwwwow. Big big news. So will FXO and fOu be playing as on team in the GSTL?
now run into the setting sun, and suffer, but don't mess up your hair.

Which of course raises the pivotal question:

What can FXOpen do fOu?

I don't know who were the driving forces behind this but the person(s) who initiated these talks and the person(s) who realized they shouldn't turn down this offer need to be commended.

FXO is going above and beyond what I was hoping they would do in interacting with other Koreans so the team can learn more efficiently how to compete.

Fou has always looked like a beleaguered team after Choya was forced to become the coach after the original one abandoned them and now they have access to resources to compete abroad like other teams do.

I'm confident this merger will be successful for a very long time for the majority of players. As a spectator thanks for making this happen so I can be excited about the future of SC2's esports scene. I definitely want to see Leenock playing the States when he is on vacation from school just to shutdown all the criticisms unnecessarily made against him.

So it basically is essentially a Team-A and Team-B now.. with the Team A being the korea house/GSTL league players.. and the Team B is in Malaysia and playing in the smaller tournaments around the world, along with a good entry point for new members to get comfortable to the player-house environment before moving to Korea.

sounds nice.

Why create a team house in Malaysia when all the talent and infrastructure is in Korea? An FXO house in Korea strikes me as more logical from a business and competitive standpoint.

As said multiple times in the thread the Latency from Malaysia to other servers is much better than Korea. so the KR house can be GSL/GSTL focused and Malaysia house foreign event focused.

That's hardly a good enough reason...

What? Having one house so you can easily participate in Korea and another so you can easily participate abroad isn't a good reason?

Everything Korea offers, versus:

better latency.

There is NOTHING in Malaysia that doesn't get the benefit from Korea other than physically being there for GSL/GSTL which we are more than happy to accommodate our players to travel between the houses for this. so yes. this is more than enough of a good reason.

there is no lag Malaysia to KR server, they are in constant communication between the players for practice so "everything Korea offers" is already available

Well, it strikes me that, firstly, the house is probably already paid for a period of 1 year, so there's that. Plus, the House in Malaysia is setup as a full broadcasting studio with facilities built directly for casting tournaments and the like. Costs are also cheaper in Malaysia and many of FXO's operations are also out of there. And, well, there's a lot of *space*, where there just isn't for a team house in Korea. The 1st floor of the Malaysia house is probably larger than the Korea house.

For the more esoteric aspects, it sits nicely between the major bits of the SEA region & Korea/Japan. It's easy for the Aussies to get home, for the Koreans to go there, and only the European/NA guys have a really long trip. So, there's a nice "shuttle" aspect between them.

This is why the house in Malaysia always made a whole lot of sense. Now, just even more.

It's probably more "Team Korea" and "Team International". I imagine they'll actually have a few more of the Koreans out in Malaysia than we expect, simply because some of them will do better in a little more open environment than the standard Korean house.

I've been one to say there's a hybrid system available of using Korean methods more intelligently. FXO may just be doing that.

..anyone else feel FXO did this to stay in the GSTL?

not really, I'm sure FXO has enough 'sway' to stay in the GSTL for as long as they want. You reckon Gom would really want to turn away Boss moneybags?

So is this why you had Choya wear the FXO t-shirt during your GSTL match? This is like out of a Christopher Nolan movie.

This sort of things that involve big money are always welcome. Sc2 Esport scene will grow and become more competitive and guess what, we will have more exciting matches and players to watch!

No more time for laddering though

These things take time, so I'm going to say it was in discussions when that happened. Which makes the back & forth trolling of the match SO much better.

And FXO & fOu will stay the "same" teams for this GSTL, so won't effect Fantasy.
