RootPrincess/SixjaxMajor caught smurfing in tourny - Page 55

Page 26 and onwards I will issue at least two day bans to anyone who clearly has not read the original topic post and the explanations contained therein. He was barred access to the event days before the actual event took place and used some random diamond player his account to try and get in anyway.

Leave the racial bias at the door while you are at it as well pretty please.

LOL. He left his stream on while doing this??

Also, he managed to offend the SEA / NA / and even gay community in this thread.

well done! (dumbass)

Small potatoes? He's been told no, several times, even when he's confronted he lies? Even if you have talked to the admins of the tournament and cleared it with them, you still should have come out strong, distancing yourselves from his actions and posted a better apology than that "Juan caused a hiccup".

I'm not impressed.

I responded a few pages later clarify what I said. It was my fault for not be extremely clear when writing about such a sensitive subject.

I should apologize for my use of the phrase "small potatoes." It was poor word choice, and I probably deserve to get chewed out for that.

If you look at what I said, I use the phrase after acknowledging that I talked to two tournament admins about the situation. I was trying to say that I had been in contact with those in charge, and that the situation had been dealt with. Moving forward I thought this situation was "small potatoes" as everything that needed to be done had be done. The very next sentence I again apologize for the event being disrupted. I wasn't trying to be anything but respectful.

The burden of clarity is on me as the speaker/writer -- my fault for not being as explicit as possible when trying to get my point across. I, however, was not trying to disrespect their event or the SEA region.

Hi evoli, thanks for clarifying

Will Sixjax be releasing a statement about this incident? As far as I can tell given your posts in this thread (and please correct me if I'm missing anything), Sixjax has yet to comment specifically on whether it approves or disapproves of Major's conduct. Will Sixjax take any action against Major for intentionally breaking the rules of a money tournament, smurfing in competitive play, and calling the tournament organizer a fag?

I'd love to know this too. It's getting old players shitting on tourney admins and also just doing in general whatever they want. This is a big screw up for Major, and something needs to be both said and done in my opinion.

You were obviously not trying to disrespect anyone. However you should read the post directly above yours, because I feel this sort of dodgy response is still unsatisfactory.

If you don't take a Visible stance on the issue, it will tarnish the name of SixJax. Just saying it's dealt with and done does nothing to save face for SixJax. Unless you take a stance, the only stance that is represented of SixJax is Major's, which is definately not in your best interest.

Please, I implore you, don't let something like this hurt your team. Take a visible stance on the issue.

I don't think there is much for evoli to say really. Despite being immature, major is a good player, they are not going to boot him off the team because of this. They probably talked to him about it, told him it was wrong and not to do it again, gave him a slap on the wrist and moved on.

Agree 100%. Sixjax needs to make a statement and take responsibility for their players' actions. What happens when athletes on sports teams make ridiculous comments or behave unacceptably? Punishment from the league / team.

I just want to hear what Artosis has to say. Will Major get any disciplinary action from Sixjax? After a couple of words from him, I think we will be able to move on from this incident.

Guess the only route left for this thread is a final statement from Sixjax management - preferably Artosis, who was responsible for bringing major onto the team - as to what their stance on the issue is.

Another interesting point is whether that Taiwanese tournament will still extend an invite to Major following the breakdown of all this. If it was me, I'd rescind the invite and give it to another player - it's not like there isn't plenty of talent in NA that can put up a good showing - as a way of laying down a marker in terms of how the community should deal with sportsmanship into the future.

The Sixjax team does not condone how MajOr acted, and I've already talked to Juan a few times about the incident since I found out about it. Juan calling someone a 'fag' is inexcusable (it offends my leftist sensibilities, as well) and if he had been told not to play he shouldn't have played.

I was contacted on Friday night (PST) by Kelly Milkies about the event and I talked to Juan shortly after finding out the whole story. The following day Dox contacted me. I apologized to him then for the grief Juan had caused.

I'm hoping the conversation the team has had with Juan stuck, and that you won't be seeing anymore antics like this from him. I'm not going into the details of our chat, as I'm of the opinion that those sort talks should remain between the team. As reassuring as I'm sure it would be for those upset to see how we went about dealing with the situation, it's something that I don't think is a appropriate to talk about with the public.

Thank you evoli for your post. This was the exactly the kind of thing that was needed. The details don't have to be public. It just needed to be known that the Sixjax cares about the issue.

So I was just thinking about Juan and his history and it made me wonder if he is a sociopath. http://www.mcafee.cc/Bin/sb.html

He seems to fit many of the criteria...

He's been caught smurfing in WCG. He's now been caught smurfing in this tournament. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. If all his team gives him is a "slap on the wrist" then there is something fundamentally wrong here. It's like when you hear about college athletes getting arrested for ridiculous things and you think "Wow, I wonder what their coach has to say about that?" then you get upset when you find out that the answer is "Not much."

This SHOULD be punished harshly. Cheating of any sort should be completely unacceptable if you represent a professional organization/team. People make mistakes, yes, but this wasn't a mistake. He knew what the rules were, and he chose to ignore them. There's no "mistake" there.

ok, so the end result is a slap on the wrist, with sorry all round to those offended.

*sigh*

how many slaps does major need to receive before he actually changes his behaviour? i can't imagine a stern talking to has any more impact than getting banned for stupidity/cheating or being removed from the team (root).

disappointing, but it's artosis' team ... so -.- cest la vie i suppose

edit: not trying to disparage artosis here, just meant that it was his call on how to proceed. hopefully he can find a way of instilling some humility into major despite the dark clouds hovering above -,-

Major blatantly disregarded the rules of the tournament to play and when he was found out he called the dedicated tournament organizer a "fag". Then when this thread began to grow he sarcastically posted "hi" and then later on lied about the circumstances and his communication with the tournament organizers. He has still not apologized as far as I know and has suffered zero consequences besides a few people in a thread getting really angry at him.

This might not be the most morally reprehensible thing ever done in the Starcraft 2 scene but it is sad that Major will almost certainly see no consequences as it may embolden him and make him continue to think that he is above everyone else, rules do not apply to him and anyone that disagrees is just a dumb "fag".

EDIT: Looking forward to hearing SOTG's take on this and also the recent acquistion of FoU by FXO.

It kind of summed up what I wanted to say pretty well. People are acting like he was caught map hacking. He tried to get into a tournament, and acted like a child when they told him he couldn't. He broke the rules and his team is dealing with it. This thread is getting out of control, he isn't killing eSports. There is no reason this should be 50+ pages long.

Don't expect a statement from Artosis since it would just draw more attention to the issue. Also, i'd wager Artosis doesn't care.

I'd love to see JP bring this up on sotg though to get a response from him.
