This program is no longer functioning as of the latest SC2 patch. An updated version will hopefully be released soon once there is another way to get reliable game information from SC2.
Tired of forgetting to switch scenes in XSplit or OBS when you alt+tab in and out of SC2, or in between games? This program will help you out by automatically switching to specific scenes in XSplit or OBS based on three possible game states:
- Inside SC2, in game
- Inside SC2, out of game
- Alt+tabbed out of SC2
+ Show Spoiler [XSplit Version] +Supports networking with another computer if you have a split SC2 / encoding setup. Simply fill in the scene names and the options you want. Note! Scene names are case sensitive. If the patch you want to use is not listed, the Use Registry box will enable scene switching based on data from the registry instead. This is required for HotS. Download:http://www.teamliquid.net/staff/R1CH/SC2SceneSwitcher20120912.zipIf you get a missing MSVCR100.DLL error when you open the program, you need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package . Making of (I streamed the creation of the program ):
+ Show Spoiler [OBS Version] +Scene switcher for OBS requires 0.47a or higher version of OBS. Older versions of OBS will CRASH, do not attempt to use this plugin with them! Network support is not yet available in the OBS version. Installation / Usage:Extract the appropriate SC2SceneSwitcher.dll to your OBS\plugins folder. Start OBS and goto Plugins / SC2 Scene Switcher and press Configure to set up your scenes. Read the README if you aren't sure which version to use. Nice! Looks good! Awesome video btw, all that stuff flys way over my head.
|
Wow sick ! Thanks, will come in handy <3
|
Damn, R1CH. This is hella fucking badass!
|
|
R1CH, the one and only wizard I know <3
|
Awesome, cool to see the wizardry in the making
|
the making of was sweet. id love to know R1CHs pc specs. must be quite the beast
|
WWWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHAAAAA????????????
OMG THIS IS SO AMAZING.
Thank you SO MUCH!
|
I've never seen something get programmed so it was a real treat to watch the video. Also think the program is really good and has a lot of potential uses, for tournament for example especially the ones that are ran online but even offline ones that use a similar production, allowing fluid swaps from the pre-game overlay into the game and back. Or as an addition to the stream privacy program you made a while back. I'm curious to see which other possible uses I'm missing. Super baller!
|
So basically you detect what happened and edit XSplits memory to change scenes? That is so cool.
|
R1CH, I'm a fan of yours, man. I dig this thing. It'll save us casters a lot of heartache.
NOW ON TO FEATURE BEGGING!
Seems to only be hooking processes on startup. I'd dig if it tried to hook once per second or so until it found the game/xsplit after startup.
Maybe also (just for kicks) if it grabbed a list of Scenes and auto populated a dropdown, not that I care since I have fairly state names on them anyway.
Also, a quick button to run xSplit from this utility would go miles to helping me remember to open the damn thing so I use it every time I stream (because I honestly want to).
I like that you already considered game-state during alt-tab. You're a sexy man for that one, solid forethought.
RIGHT! That's it from me. Thanks a ton man, this is going to be awesome for making sure I don't pull a Biscuit.
|
Amazing, R1CH. Really glad you "filmed" the programming of =).
The Wizard at Work

|
|
Now that's a Wizard at work.
|
Nice work R1CH! I can see a lot of streamers getting very happy about this little program.
|
RICH. THANK YYOU. I BOW TO YOU
|
Very very useful little program. Gotta love having wizard support.
|
i should prolly make a website called www.gayfor1ch.com
this is actually one of my worst problems - trying this out right away - muchas gracias sênor!
|
Any chance you'll release the source code ?
|
Wait, you don't actually have the full Windows API memorized? I'm disappointed, "TL wizzard"... + Show Spoiler + Nah, just kidding. Great work with that.
From skipping through the video, you are basically just emulating a click on the scene button to activate the scene, but i couldn't find how you check for the state change - probably just because i'm at work and can't watch it in detail. Could you explain how you do that, please? (No code, just theory) Does SC2 create a new window when the game starts or does it create a control?

watching the Video makes me feel stupid. useful tool.

nice tool but I hope as soon as xsplit has their game-source capture (which hopefully also will mean a completely stutterfree capturing) implemented we won't need it anymore.
(actually the tool is still helpful in a lot of situations then, but for players just streaming their game it will make it easier to avoid showing stuff on stream they don't want to)

wow it was really really cool watching you programming R1CH. I've watched Japanese programmer before but he only did it as a hobby so he really took a long time to do things.

You're a wizard R1CH, seriously..
Really impressive!

It depends on what you are programming. This program consists basically of a few API calls and a drag-and-drop-created GUI (It's still great, but it's not exactly magic). You don't need to think too much about proper design, maintainability, unit testing, etc. while for professional code all those matter and slow down the programming process a lot as you have to think a lot more instead of pasting the program together from the examples in the manuals and then just moving things around.
Still, R1CH is a great programmer and i appreciate all the tools, even if i don't use them myself. He should publish his code into a TL.net-Tools sourceforge page for others to learn - though like the code that most code wizards write in private, the published code will probably be a horrible mess of quick-and-dirty code :p

Shut up and take my money!
|
i really hope not more people start using this, it's already so insanely boring to see the static overlays during tournaments and many people start tuning out when all they get to see is a .jpg (no matter what it is) for a few minutes.

Don't say it would ever happen to you that you have a co-cast with TLO and forget to actually show the game... :p

Holy mother of impressive, you could so own Merlin.

Wait a minute, I'm confused... I thought Xsplit captured the area that you select, no matter what is on it. I have 1 scene captured on sc2 but when I tab out it shows my desktop in that area as well, is that not how it should be?

It is how it should be for xsplit, but some people don't want that (for example casters). They prefer that - when the game ends - it goes to a "standby, next game soon" scene instead of showing the administrative stuff they do in the mean time (starting the game up, inviting players, possibly entering character codes/email adresses, etc.).

It might free up their resources to create something better than just a picture. Remember that a webcam/desktop/game can all count as a scene. So it's not limited to a picture, many have actually started using videos instead. To give some examples: Shoutcraft has the different color planets that move around, NASL either has a filler video clip or the break countdown, GSL and MLG show crowd shots. So you could make something really cool and this would allow the producers to use it in their cast easily and thus well. Maybe before it was too much of a hassle to be able to do it and since the games etc come first, not that important so people stayed away from trying it.

Part of the above answer will also help to explain. While it does show your desktop and that is how it works, you don't want me to see your private messages, or the files you have on your desktop, or when you have to check your mail accidentally show everyone on stream your email. You can now choose to have it not default to the desktop but default to your "GreEny K's German SC2 Stream, Currently searching for a game!" overlay and handle your business in private, as well as provide that added value by using some fancy features.
At least that's some of the uses and it's benefits I see for it, I'm still curious which I'm ones I'm missing and if the priority is on the privacy or the added value.
|
R1CH, you're amazing.
Feature request: Add a scene for when the observer goes full screen (ctrl + w).

That video is so impressive! X_X About 1½ hours of work and voila... You're good.

Hey R1CH, has anyone ever told you that if I was stranded on a desert island and I could only bring 3 things, I would say fuck that and take you instead? Thanks for the tool man, you rock! :D

So far I've only seen JustinTV streamers use very monotone alternative scenes, especially Shoutcraft had that same lame FX video on for hours on end. This is a very neat program, no doubt about it, but if the producers aren't going to put some serious work & thought into what they show on their other Scenes I'd rather just see what they see, in-game lobby before the game is much more interesting than that because you know the games are about to start and you can occasionally see some chat/banter before the game starts.

Anyone tried this with 1.3.5? Had one person report it wasn't working, but it seems fine for me.
|
Doesn't seem to be working for me. Started xsplit, configured the scenes. started Sceneswitcher started the game started the stream nothing happens when I alt tab.
What am i doing wrong? (1.3.5)
Edit: and now it works. Go figure xD

I tried it out on 1.3.5 and it works great.

Doesn't really seem to be working. Don't know if its because of 1.3.5 or some new XSplit version.
Edit: Nevermind, after restarting everything a few times it seems to work.

I don't really understand what the checkboxes do, care to explain?

R1CH, your programs are amazing. I have been searching for one where players can ouput the name/bnet profile of their opponent to the stream while you are laddering. Ah, I get it. Thanks. It's been working like a charm for me by the way.

Updated version fixes an issue where running the program before starting XSplit may cause it to not function.
|
I love you for making this. It's really really awesome. Just wanted to say that.
An oh. One more little thing: Would it be alot of work to add an "override" function? Like.. right now I've set it to go to a splash screen when I'm in windows. Having a hotkey that triggers it to go fullscreen mode even if it's against my automated settings would be really nice. Then once you're done doing that, you just go back to original settings.

This is a really nice program, and also Starinfo is amazing!! I saw it on pokebunny's stream, R1CH is there any ETA on when we could possibly expect Starinfo to be public? This tool is just so amazing and i'd love to have it and i'm sure tons of other streamers would too!
|
Great looking tool! Is there any chance we might see a version compatible with VH Multi Camera Studio?
+ Show Spoiler +
|
There's pretty much no reason to use VH Multi Camera any more with XSplit, so no.
|
I think we might just need to create an open source scene for the sc2 community, all these little appliactions have huge potential, and there are so many great ideas out there.
Can't wait till you release starinfo.
Any chance we'll get to see the code behind this app? The code you've written to both detect the window switches, game entering, and then forcing xsplit to change scenes could be used to create and extent features of a number of other applications.
All these little tools could be combined into one big awesome casting application, name detection could autofill the scoreboard overlay, scenes could switch without a hitch while the ads play between games, info on the current match could be provided in chat as well.
tl;dr I want ur codez
|
Awesome program, haven't used yet but just going to d/l. Thanks for making this public. Is this going to work for 1.4?
Oops I saw it, 1.4 implemented. Great job thanks!
|
I can't get it to switch to scene 2 when going out of game on 1.4. It worked before the patch, it only goes to scene 1 when I join a game, but it stays there even tho the game ends.
Thank you for all the great work! Hope you can fix this.
Edit: It works when watching a replay. /Evire
|
having the same issue evire is having But thank you so much!
Is there an order the programs need to be opened? also Does it matter which scene on xsplit I start on? This is not too user friendly for me

Is there a working version for the latest patch somewhere? I tried to google it but couldn't find anything.
Tnx
|
Working on a bug with the latest patch, it doesn't seem to handle leaving game properly. Should be updated later today.
|
|
|
Isn't working with the newest SC2 patch for me. It's stuck on loop with trying to find the SC2 and XSplit windows.
|
thanks r1ch =) also enjoyed watching you program it.
|
it would be nice if you opensource the tool , that way everyone can contribute and make it better
|
Are you planning on making StarInfo publicly available at some point?
|
I found a slight bug. When the program is active, it disables the media keys on keyboards that have them.
|
This is amazing! Super useful program!
Would it be possible to minimize the program to the system tray? It would help me from tabbing to every few minutes ^__^
Also, I haven't had any issues using my media keys. Not sure what Jekerdud was talking about, or if you already fixed it, then holy crap, you're fast!
|
I cannot get this to work. It say's "Finding Xsplit window..." at the bottom and does nothing else. Nor can I find any troubleshooting or help forum or anything related to having problems. Seems like a great tool so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
|
Now my viewers don't have to stare at a black screen whenever I alt+tab.
thanks R1CH!
|
Is this program still going to be updated? The new patch seems to have broken the alt+tab scene. All of the others are working fine tho
|
The alt+tab options aren't related to SC2 version. But maybe they don't work as expected.
|
For the latest XSplit patch, it seems the process is no longer able to be opened at the same privilege level (WTF XSplit?). Simple workaround is just to run the scene switcher as admin.

Yeah I ran into an issue with this earlier where the program just simply wasn't changing the scene but now things are working when I run it as admin. Thanks!

Siiiiick program, thaaanks <3
|
R1CH, would it be possible to have something like this for mute/unmute (or more specifically, toggle sound and/or mic on scene change).
|
Just wanted to say how much I appreciate the program. Also wanted to give heads up that it crashes for me as soon as I ask it to stop. Seems to crash when " waiting for thread to exit..."
|
Ya I get the same problem as the previous person that it seems to crash when I tell it to stop. And it says "waiting for thread to exit." In addion a good feature would be to automatically switch between multiple screens instead of just one. I guess what I mean is that when leaving a game it always switches to the same screen and I would like it to switch to any of the 12 screens and xsplit holds.
|
I can get it to not crash now if I exit starcraft 2 and xsplit first and then ask it to stop. But not with those programs running.
|
Is this with the latest version (20111230)?
Note that if using network mode, stopping will be unreliable. If you need to stop the program in network mode, exit it completely for now.
|
Yes the problems that I talked about a couple days ago was with the latest version (20111230). Also I was not in network mode.
R1CH do you plan on putting any new feature in the next release of this program?
|
|
Tagging for later! Great work!
|
Ah, I was looking for this! Thanks R1CH! (:

|
I was testing this out, but it dont work... It says patch 1.4.1, but in the loginscreen, it is 1.4.2(something), and its not on the program! does this still work even if the patchnumber isnt even? :O

I know you're a busy wizard, and as such, you probably have too many brilliant ideas to realize them (turn them into release-ready executeables).
Having such a great memory, you probably just store these all in your brain, and then use telepathy to share them with others. For those of us that lack your magical telepathic mind, it would be helpful if we had access to a little list of all your magical ideas. If you happened to have some un-finished code, or some features that you didn't have the time to add, we, TL-CodeMonkeyz United, could take these brilliant ideas, mush them together, and make these a reality.

Hey R1CH,
Curious if you have any idea how I could extend on this. In particular, I just want to respond to the entering/leaving game events and further automate my stream. Turn off outside music, turn on in-game music which I do at the same time here.
Could you add it so its firing a Win32 event to hook onto? Just a quick look through Spy I don't see anything obvious to hook to right off the bat.
|
this shit is awesome took me 4-5months to get it but I regret not getting it sooner.
|
it's pretty much jesus in a bottle. would recomend. good job rich
|
It seems that your awesome soft makes my Xsplit crash sometimes... And it always seems to be when a game end and SceneSwitcher try to switch to "waiting screen", even if it worked without any problem for hours.
Am I the only one ? It is so vital to me that even with reccurents crashes, I keep and will keep using it anyways :D
Thanks a lot.

oo just found this ill be trying this out now! thanks
|
Awesome program, thanks!
Is there a way for it to remember the settings ? Because at the moment everytime I launch it asks for the scenes again, not sure if is intended to work that way.
A way to minimize / send the program to tray would be also useful so it doesn't show when alt-tabbing.
Thanks!

Damn R1CH! Thank you so much

Whenever I try to hit "stop" on the program, it stops responding and I'm forced to close it via Windows. Also, when I start it up again it doesn't remember the previous settings (they are blank and I have to fill them out again. Any help? ><
EDIT: I've downloaded and installed the VCredist(s)
EDIT: Working now, I believe I needed to give some time for the VC stuff to settle.

Can I still use this program on version 1.0 of the official Xsplit release?

I tried it for the first time today with 1.0, and it works just fine. Many thanks to the creator!

Hmm i have had no luck getting the program to work and am not sure what i could be doing wrong, i installed the service pack, i have 4 seperate scenes setup to test it, when i start the scene switcher, it is detecting the different states fine and i typed in the proper case sensitive scene names but it doesnt switch scenes when i tab out or enter a game at all, does anyone have any ideas what i could be doing wrong?

RICH can you make an tutorial of this program?
|
I suck at this.. Can't figure out how it works. The only thing I want Is When I alt tab out of SC2, The scene changes to Scene 2. Because I play with Game source and otherwise the viewers will only see a paused Sc2 screen. Instead of my Dashboard. And when I alt tab back in. Xsplit changes to scene 1 again. :S Please help!
|
Leave the enter / exit game scenes blank then, and just fill in the tab in / tab out ones and make sure both boxes are unticked. Remember the scene names are case sensitive.
|
it would be nice if I can use trayit to hide the window of this program (this program tends to stay as a window and ignore trayit to go politely into my tray... because I don't want to keep tabbing to it >_<
|
Awsome program, been using it for months! Thank you very much! I do have a suggestion though: Could perhaps a minimize to tray or at least minimize to task-bar be added? Kinda sucks having it on the screen at all times even when I press win+M
|
Anybody else having trouble with this since the update this morning?
For me, it's not changing from Scene 2 (out of game overlay) to Scene 1 (in game overlay). I've been using it for about a month now and it's been working great until now and I haven't changed any settings.
|
yeah it stays in scene 2 while in game

Yeah, I'm having the same problem.
|
Can you update it for the new patch!
|
Pretty please o mighty wizard!
|
you can work around it by unchecking all boxes and using the tab-in/tab-out boxes. Behaves differently ofc, but at least whenever you are tabben in game it swithches to scene1 so you are 100% viewers see the game. And yes, I have same problem. Cause is probably the patch. Sceneswithcer does not have 1.4.4 option to choose from yet. Dunno but it might be that.

It does. Using it roght now. You need to select the proper SC2 version from the drop down menu at the bottom right

|
No. I have 1.5.0 available in the drop-down menu. Try downloading the program again and see if that helps. Also you need to run it with admin priviledges. Better add it to firewall/malware exceptions as well. To ensure you dont have any problems.
|
Will this work on other games aswell? (say league of legends or dota 2?) I am ofc completely retarded when it comes to how stuff like this works, but I would really enjoy using this when I cast or stream LoL
|
I could look into making it work with other games, it shouldn't be too difficult to detect game state especially for things like LoL where the game itself is a separate process.
|
How do I make the program to apply scene according to game status when alt-tabbing in and applying other scene when alt-tabbing out? In other words, I want Scene 1 when SC2 is focused and a game is on, Scene 2 when SC2 is focused and I'm in menus, Scene 3 when I'm alt-tabbed out regardless of the game status.
|
Untick both boxes, fill in in game, out of game and tabbed out and it should work.
|
Hi R1CH, really love the program man! One little issue I'm having though the scene switcher is not picking up that I'm in game, if I alt-tab after its already switched to the When entering a game scene. I.e. Find match > Load in > Scene switches > Alt+tab out of game > scene switches to desktop > alt tab back into game > scene switches to' when alt+tabbing in' and doesn't notice I'm in a game so it doesn't switch to 'when entering a game'.
tl:dr Once a games loaded if I alt+tab and back in I lose my overlay.
|
Thank you for your time, R1CH, but it doesn't seem to be working. When I alt-tab back in it stays in tabbed out scene (as there is nothing in "When alt+tabbing in" box. Maybe it will be possible with a future version
|

Would love to get this to dota 2, another good game! Thanks for the program!
|
R1CH, nicely done.
As an xsplit user and avid sc2 player--very useful stuff.
Follow-up question. I do not have a premium xsplit account yet, so I don't use game source.
Perhaps I've been misunderstanding the fundamentals of this program, but here goes..
I have an sc2 overlay. I want to auto-switch to this overlay only when I'm in an active game of sc2 (not in the menus, only IN-game). I do not want the overlay to appear when I'm tabbed out ever, and I do not want the overlay to appear when I'm in sc2 menus, ever.
I have toyed with both check-boxes and have addressed the entering/exiting game scenes as well as the tab-in/tab-out scenes.
Now, there's a button in the sc2sceneswitcher window "Setup"
This opens a new window where you can check "I'm running sc2" or "I'm running xsplit" (while I don't know the difference between them, I've toyed with both).
I have effectively tried every combination of each scene box, check-box, and setup item, and have not been able to get it to only switch to overlay when in an active game, and switch away from it anytime I'm tabbed or leave.
I run into issues, with each different selection I make. Obviously you wrote the program, so I think listing them all would be a waste of space.
Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong, or if the use I'm referring to is not an intended use.
Thanks very much.

Updated version with HotS support and version-agnostic switching: http://www.teamliquid.net/staff/R1CH/SC2SceneSwitcher20120912.zip
Tick the 'Registry' box to enable switching based on the registry instead of game memory. This works with HotS and future patches.
The UI has also been redesigned to support the most common usage scenarios without requiring confusing checkboxes.

On September 20 2012 01:57 aquados wrote: does this work for bw aswell? i hope so.
Could you please add BW support? I guess you could read some memory thingies to see if it's in the channel/game/etc because I assume there's not much support for that since it's an older game. It wouldn't alter any code of the game so I assume Blizzard shouldn't have a problem with it (unless they don't like people reading BW memory).
Thanks for doing the SC2 switcher, I see tons of people use it! Even though I don't play SC2 I just wanted to say thank you, as I do watch some SC2 streams sometimes.

I don't intend to support the 64 bit version as there isn't any compelling reason to be using it.

Ok, i think it worked since its now shown in the plugins tab....
Nevermind, got it working, thanks!!

I'm having issue with the OBS plugin. When using the Scene Switcher with OBS version 0.447a 32-bit (released today), Starcraft II crashes. This happens every time. I can't get Starcraft to launch. If I remove the .dll from the plugins folder of OBS, Starcraft II opens fine.
|
The plugin doesn't interface with SC2 at all, it just reads the registry. So something else on your end is likely broken if SC2 is crashing.
|
I'm guessing it probably has to do with the way the new Game Capture for OBS is reacting with the Scene Changer, I'll try doing it without the Game Capture and see if it still gets the error. But indeed, Starcraft doesn't crash unless I have the plugin installed.
Update: Sorry, it does seem to be a problem with game capture plugin for OBS and not an issue one bit with your plugin. As a note, your plugin is exactly what I was looking for.
|
R1CH, you wizzard. Thanks for your hard work. I'm testing it right now!

|
Amazing program RICH ! Thanks a lot. Would it be possible to get one for LoL?
|
Thank you R1CH. You are the man
EDIT : This is pretty strange. I've extracted the DLL in the plugin folder, I saw it once after running OBS as administrator but now I don't see it anymore.
I also seek "where the OBS exe" was, and it's x64 folder, so I also copied the dll in plugins folder there. But no way, I run OBS as admin but it doesn't appear in plugins (in OBS) anymore.
Btw, OBS v0.466a
|
32 bit only as noted in the OP.
|
Oh sorry, thank you.
Then, will it change something if I run my OBS in 32 instead of 64? cuz in that case, I just checked, it works ! May I have lags or lower perfomance?
I don't really know the difference about those 2 things...
EDIT : Well, I just tried with 32bits version, and I had np. Working like a charm, ty R1CH
|
Thanks so much for this R1CH I finally bothered downloading it and feel like a moron for not doing it sooner. Makes streaming so seamless
|
|
Why is R1CH so nice :3 Hoping to get this working on my system again soon!
|
I just started streaming and OBS is a lifesaver. I'm really loving this little program. It was really easy to setup and I've had no issues (caused by OBS).
The only issue I've had is you can't stream (as a game file) Dark Souls if you use the DSFix. That stinks but not an issue caused by OBS. Most of my streaming will be dota2 though so I don't really care.
OBS=Great Program, no reason to pay for xsplit as a casual game streamer!
|
im having a strange problem. im on obs 0.466a and i got the plugin working but the preview is now lagging in game, but my game it self is not(i have it set to 30fps and in game it drops to as low as 7). i did not have this problem before and i cant understand why it would cause that. anyone else have anything similar?

I ask because given that OBS itself will now do whatever I need in 64 Bit mode, SC2 scene switcher's compatibility is the only thing stopping me from migrating entirely.

R1ch, can you please release the source code for this? I love you, but with all due respect, trying to see what you did from the sped-up video is a nightmare.
Side note: This would be useful for me; I'm trying to figure out the best way to write a program that will automatically alt-tab back to Starcraft when the loading screen finishes (if it isn't already).

The current TL overlay has the commend card used for sponsor info, with a gap at the bottom so that upgrades are visible.
The webcam is positioned directly to the left of that. I've made a ghetto overlay for myself which has it positioned there, sized accordingly, and it looks pretty nice.
http://www.teamliquid.net/staff/HawaiianPig/streamdesigns/full.jpg
Have a look at that. My overlay uses pretty much the same layout, except obviously my graphics are very different, and instead of the TL logo I have the terran logo, and instead of Razer, I have my name and "Manchester Barcraft".

Hi R1ch, I'm having some troubles with the OBS + SC2Scene switcher. I run a 64bit windows 7 ult.
when I alt tab a lot, my OBS crashes. I'd really appreciate the help <3 tyty
I'm not sure if its Sc2scene switcher that is crashing it or my vers of OBS. I use 0.472b.
|
Make sure you added any devices like webcams as global sources, the frequent scene switching may be crashing them if they have low quality drivers.
|
Hey R1CH seems your plugin needs an Update for the newest OBS Builds. At least for me it doesnt work anymore with the newest compiled builds.
|
|
Hey R1CH, I use your plugin for streaming with OBS. I really like it, because it's increasing the production quality of my stream so much. Thanks for your great work!
Nevertheless I've got two questions:
1. Are you planning to release a 64bit version? 2. With the new custom oberserver UI option, my ingame overlay doesn't fit when I watch a replay. Is it possible to automatically detect which UI is used and to activate the associtated scene?

64 bit sc2 scene switcher for OBS would be great.

I don't think there is any point in doing so, yet. I mean the difference in 32bit OBS and 64bit is miniscule and you can run 32bit OBS on a 64bit system no problem. That's as far as I know anyway.

I'm using latest OBS and have no trouble making it work, you should double check that you are using the 32 bit version and placing the plugin in the correct folder

Only SC2, but there's another scene changer plugin that works with any game or program. You'll find it in the forums as a scene changer
|
Ahh, switching to the 32-bit version worked out it shows up there! Accessed it from the Start Menu folder.

Yep, this plugin doesn't have a 64 bit version. Also, theres no real gain on using that version so stick with the 32 bit one
|
Heya I just started using this for OBS but can't get it to work? Any suggestions? I've got it in my plugins and configure it to "1" "2" or "Scene 1" "Scene 2" and so on but it just doesn't seem to work. Is it still up to date or no longer updated? I searched for the other game scene switcher and couldn't find it.
|
I'm not sure if this still works anymore, but you can look in to this: http://obsproject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1785
It doesn't detect when you are in a match versus being in the menus, but it's still nice.
If this plugin DOES still work, it would only be in 32-bit OBS, which is located in either C:\Program Files(x86)\OBS or in your start menu shortcuts as Open Broadcaster Software\Open Broadcaster Software (32-bit)
edit: I only happened to see your response by chance, but you would have a lot more luck getting support by heading over to the OBS site and either posting on the forums, or hopping into the live chat. People are almost always around to help you out.

I've got it in my plugins and configure it to "1" "2" or "Scene 1" "Scene 2" and so on but it just doesn't seem to work. Is it still up to date or no longer updated? I searched for the other game scene switcher and couldn't find it.
Installation / Usage: Extract SC2SceneSwitcher.dll to your C:\Program Files\OBS\plugins folder. Start OBS and goto Plugins / SC2 Scene Switcher and press Configure to set up your scenes.

If you get a missing MSVCR100.DLL error when you open the program, you need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package .
I use this and it works just fine. If you need any help figuring stuff out, shoot me a message and I'll give you the settings and setups I use.

Hey R1CH, just curious if you plan to add Network support to the OBS version? Thanks for this great plugin.

R1CH just published a 64-bit version, have a look at the OP Great piece of software!

Hi R1CH, do you know if it's possible to also "network-scene switch" with OBS itself? Thanks
|
It doesn't work with Heroes of the Storm :/
|
Bump can you make working one for Heroes of the Storm?

For everyone wondering, still works with LotV.

hey everybody, i just startet to stream a bit with obs (0.657) via twitch and wanted to use the sc2 scene switcher (with lotv, oc). It does work in general but the problem i´m facing is that the plugin doesn´t seem to detect switching between ingame (ladder, custom, replays) and the menu. Switching screens when alt- tabbing works fine though...
I´ve been searching for a solution quite a bit but i can´t find anything helpful.
I hope to get some help here, because it seems to work somehow, as i can see it working when watching the "pros" stream sc2.
THX !

I actually have to echo the post above. I've been using the scene switcher since may, zero problems. Update for sc2 yesterday and now Obs won't recognize the in-game screen. It will recognize the menu screen fine, but not switch to in game. I think it may be the update :3 halpp

Yeah, same here AlbatrossX3 ^
|
The update seems to have removed the Razer Banshee variables which the scene switcher also used. Will see if there's an alternative way to do this without resorting to per-patch offsets :|
|
Ech must not be fun dealing with the update variations :3 Thanks for all of your work, it's greatly appreciated ^_^

Its broken since the Patch yesterday 29.03.2016)
|
Is there a similar/equivalent plugin for OBS Studio?
|
I hope for a quick fix on that one. I'm just used to this luxury now and always forget to switch it manually
Great work R1ch!

R1CH! I summon thee! We need your powers!

Is this not working properly since the last patch? T_T

You are correct, sir.

The APM overlay in Scelight stopped working because it relies on the same registry keys as the scene switcher. Here's what the Scelight dev said in another thread.

StarCraft does not update Windows Registry anymore, which is what the game monitor and live APM features rely on. This should be reported to Blizzard.

I'm trying to get in contact with someone to find a supported way to make this work again.

Thanks R1CH, been using the scene switcher for years. You don't really realise what kind of convenience it gives, until you suddenly no longer have it.
Is there a way I could donate to you? Would be a small gift for the years of convenience

I am hoping for a solution as well and its said that there is still no fix. Hope for the best :D

Hope it gets fixed soon (

Any news on this?

I'm assuming no response from blizz?

It's looking like it should be ready in the next patch.

Anyone have an alternative for this ? or news about the fix ?

The experimental SC2 Scene Switcher works really great. The only complaint I have is that I have to update the scene names every time I restart OBS Studio, i.e. select field and press enter, otherwise both scenes are empty (black).
|
will there be a obs classic version?
|
I'm not sure if anyone here still uses XSplit, but I made a new plugin using the API. You can get it here.
|
is there a 32bit version of this scene switcher for obs?
|
Nope, as there is no reason not to use 64 bit OBS.
|
Hi, when I use the OBS "sc2-scene-switcher" with the "automatic scene switcher" feature of OBS (I have a out of game scene that it defaults to), everything works fine until I tab out of the game and back. The scene will be switched back to the scene switcher scene, but the scene switcher will not switch to the correct scene anymore (i.e. it will be stuck on the scene that has scene switcher in it)
Is anybody else experiencing this issue or am I doing something wrong?
Also, R1CH could you open source the OBS scene switcher please?
|
Can anyone explain to me how to set this up in obs? I have extracted the folder to the obs studio 64 plugin folder, I just cannot figure out how to apply it in the application.
|
You don't extract the entire folder to the plug-ins folder, just the .dll file. After you've done that, you need to add a source to ONE (and only one) of your scenes in obs-studio. SC2 scene switcher should show up as a possible source to add. Then simply type the name of the scene you want to show while in game, and the name of the scene you want to show while out of game.

anyone know how i can put this scene siwtch dont work on my stream

Hello R1CH,
Would you mind revealing or explaining the C++ section that tells you you've tapped out of the game (Alt-Tab)? I would really appreciate that for another project. Thank you in advance.
