It blows my mind when people think that these ambassadors of the game and e-sports are in it for the money, and don't work hard Nobody is saying day9 doesn't work hard. The whole thing is about how he still acts like he's broke and previously asked for donations and shit but never followed up. Plus being overly positive is.. unlikeable, in a weird way. Something about the lolsorandom youtube personality tends to rub people the wrong way.

I think as well that clearly Day9 loved Brood War but probably just likes Sc2 and is more in it for the money, not solely for the money mind you. You can tell as soon as he mentions Brood War that it just means far more to him.

The only thing I see him "acting" like is living like a student. But that is not "acting" since he is actually living like a student even if he might afford "better" place. He asks for donations, but what do you mean follow up ? Some people might not like it, others like it. Who cares. EDIT:typo

At that time, he probably wasn't earning as much and he needed one more semester or something As far as I know he did not ask for them. It was I think reddit spontaneous initiative. He just did not refuse the money.

I think he is paying a hundred nerds to work for him (and with him) on all his projects, and that's where his money is going.

Q: Why should I sign up? A: The community has been amazing enough to give unsolicited donations to help support me and the show. The voluntary subscription allows me the chance to give back to all the kind folks who wish to continue their support : ]. Also, With my grad program finishing up OH so soon, I'll be devoting myself to eSports full time! So, I'll have the chance to turn any income generated by day9tv into awesome projects to help promote and further eSports and gaming :D. Did I mention you get a nifty chat badge? and donating The subscription revenue, while helpful, only partially defrays the cost of operating Day[9]TV. If you have the means to offer additional support so that Day[9] can continue his efforts to grow eSports, we invite you to make a one time personal donation to his tip jar (or, better still, a recurring donation!!) below: I feel like at a certain point of success you should stop asking for donations since you don't really see any medium or big businesses do that. But I don't know if or when day9 will be at that point.

I'm just asking because you make it sound like you know what you are talking about but then you shoot yourself in the foot. First you say he isn't in sc2 for the money and then you say he is. Which is it? He made dailies about the first sc2 battle reports before the beta even started, how the fuck is that being in it for the money? Sc2 took off, the bubble expanded, you know what I'm talking about but something else could have happened. He can make a living doing what he loves now but if he didn't, I'm pretty sure he would still make the daily. Nothing came falling off the sky for him, he worked hard. Now if in your opinion you think he doesn't deserve it or that he isn't doing the most he can for the grow of esports now it's another subject ,which can be discussed if you like ,but when you are somehow acting like you know why he does this or that without knowing what the hell are you talking about it's very infuriating. So either explain your point well, know what you are talking about or just be honest and say you don't like him.

And no I'm not saying sc2 = esports. Which game day9 casts the most for? Which community is he the most involved with? <.<
