Let me get this straight guys

You will pay $5 for 4 days of play, but $25 for 25 days play is too much?

Hey would you look at that, a dollar a day. before you were paying $1.25.

There were also be more 1-sided stomp matches that just aren't worth watching.

I'll probably just try and tune in live.

Maybe someday the GSL will get with the fucking program and stop charging us... na that's never gonna happen. At least there's Dreamhack!

Yes, they should just provide daily SC with English commentary, HQ, etc. for free. They aren't a business or anything.

Derp.

Haha, yeah I think its really alright for the NASL and GSTL to charge $25, that's cheap as hell considering how many hours of good games you get. Furthermore, your helping the community.

I think the OP is trying to say that $25 is too much for the amount of content you get in the GSTL. NASL is 5 days a week and it is $25 for the hd and vods, but the new GSTL is (2 days?) a week and lasts about as long as the NASL bracket season, but it costs the same price.

First, its a team league so its already much better than NASL, second the quality of these games are way higher than NASL's, more than half of NASL's group play is just terrible. (either really one sided, or 2 bad players, drebie vs painuser was just so painful to watch)

I understand that, but speaking in numbers, NASL is the better deal and that is why some people may have a problem with it, that's all.

The Team League format has always been more enjoyable to me. Even though its only 2 days a week, the sets could get up to 9 or 13 games depending on if they go first to 5 or 7.

I still think its worth it. I know people are broke, but lets support ESPORTS!

I voted "other", since it's always been an issue of time and not of money for me. I try to watch the odd weekend matches that air earlier on the weekends, since I'm usually just going to bed at that time anyways.

So to clarify, no, I will not purchase a ticket, but not because it is "too expensive".

How ignorant are you. Yea for the majority of american college students it isn't much. But you realize some people make much less money in other countries? Not everyone is guaranteed to make $1000/mth working at mcdonalds or even has a job of any sort.

Anyways, I probably still will purchase the pass. I just can't turn down an opportunity to watch thorzain/naniwa/fxo vs koreans. I think Moonan is megatalented and will surprise. But the price is steep. I can't help but feel they know foreigners want to watch and they think they can gouge money from us.

For the majority of american college students that is A LOT lol... most of us are broke as a joke. I don't understand what that guy was talking about. Just some ignorant kid who gets everything paid for by mommy and daddy.

I think what we're all missing out on here is that the per-unit price has gone DOWN. You are now paying less on a per-game basis, since the team league itself has been dramatically expanded. If you were planning on watching the GSTL anyways for this many games, you are paying LESS MONEY TOTAL as well.

Friends, stop being so ridiculus.

We wanted more foreigners in GSL, so GOM gave away Code A/S spots.
We want to see a foreigner team in GSTL, so GOM invited and accommodated FXOpen.
We asked GOM to blow up GSTL, so GOM made it into a full league.

The least we can do is chip in a bit for the prize pool?
Thank God and gunrun.

Damn, I don't know. On the one hand, GSL is the best tournament by far. On the other hand, I'm really short on cash these days. If I wasn't a poor, jobless college student, the price would not stop me. But I can't afford a lot of stuff I actually need right now, so I really doubt I can swing this.

I want GSL to switch to a flat monthly payment system. Like 15 bucks a month or something.

Anyway, it's sad I'll have to miss all this awesome GSL stuff because of money. It kicks the shit out of other tournaments just by having the players there in person. Only downside is lame finals every season (except GSTL has killer finals every time).

Gom having done a lot of good doesn't change the fact that it's quite expensive. Won't be buying, will be watching any stream I have time for though.

I'd pay if it were $20, just a $5 difference but for some reason $25 just looks like too much.

Wow going to have to share this with friends, the price is ridiculous IMO. The only tournaments I will pay $25 for are super long ones such as NASL. So yeah, too expensive but "I" will still "buy" it.

What is the meaning of the quotation marks around "I" and "buy"?

I meant that I will be sharing the account with my friends lol

1) It's cheaper than it used to be on a per-match basis, since the ticket buys you a lot more matches
2) It's cheaper than it used to be on a per-match basis, since the ticket buys you a lot more matches
3) dude. it's cheaper than it used to be. It's like complaining that a gallon of milk is more expensive than a quart of milk, despite the fact that the gallon is cheaper than 4 quarts would be, SO YOURE GETTING MORE STUFF FOR YOUR MONEY

I know it's not more expensive than usual (same price/duration ratio) but I think people (me included) will see this as a bit too expensive (20$, a symbolic change, looks much less expensive imo). Perhaps they should make a monthly 10$ subscription, or a subscription for the first 5 weeks then another for the next 5. I'll still buy it because I can, but I fear they'll lose some business

The upfront cost is the problem. I agree with what someone else said earlier in the thread, a lot more people would probably be willing to pay something like a $10-15 subscription per month with access to all GSL content, incl. individual leagues, team leagues, future world championships, etc.

$25 or $40 is a lot to pay in one go when you're not immediately getting the entertainment, like you would buying a video game or going out to see a movie.

But then each of the 35 sets would be worth 57 cents each.

The old GSTL price made each of its 7 sets be worth 71 cents each for a total of $5.

The new GSTL price charges each of its 35 sets 71 cents each for a total of $25.

The price per set is the EXACT SAME as the previous GSTLs. You just get way more sets, so the total price is more expensive.

Well, OF COURSE buying 5 hamburgers costs 5 times as much as buying 1 hamburger. >_>
