MLG is very pleased to announce that three top finishers from MLG Columbus have accepted Code A status and will be heading to Korea to compete as part of the League Exchange Program. Dignitas.Naniwa and MouzThorzain will be competing in GSL Code A August and will also participate in the August GSTL, as a part of Korean pro team WeMadeFox. The third participating player will be announced shortly. Full expenses for all three players will be provided by the GSL.
Once again, MLG would like to thank the GSL for helping to make this historic program possible, and we’d like to congratulate Naniwa and Thorzain on being among the first players to participate. We wish them the best of luck in the GSL, GSTL, and future MLG Pro Circuit Competitions.

Mr.Chae already spoiled this news for us but nice to see the official statement out..
|
Interested to see if they will find it worth it to stay or not.
|
very excited to see thorazain/naniwa in gsl A. both can make to r08 at the least I believe.
|
Omg so amazing! Love GSL, and MLG.
|
OMG OMG OMG *CHEER!!!!!!*
|
Great players, great opportunity. Represent guys! Foreigners Fighting!
|
cool!
Top players of TSL3: check Top players of MLG Columbus: check Top players of code A...
|
Of course it'd be those two. Good luck! Who's the third one?
|
HUGE! GO TZAIN!!!!!!!
oh and NANIWA is fking scary good so I am SURE he will do well.
|
Having a GSTL to play in on top of Code A makes the Code A invite much more appealing. If it was just Code A it would be pretty weak.
|
who could the third player potentially be?
|
awesome! its great that theyre going to korea. I hope they do well so they'll stay there for a jinro length of time
|
Fucking decent. I think Thorzain will prove to be a powerhouse.
|
My best of luck to them, hope they give a good showing
|
Wonder who the third person will be. Must not have a response from them yet.

I think it will be Slush.

Good news, but I hope things are as profitable for them in Code A as it would be in the tournaments they might be missing, both money- and fame-wise. =)
GL to them both, and GL to MMA this weekend as well!
|
oh and it is pretty awesome that WEMADEFOX will also be playing in the GSTL!!!
|
I only know of lyn and moon on wemadefox who else is there?
|
Good luck guys Although i am a bit disappointed they are playing for WeMadeFox, i always saw Naniwa as an ace player for either IM or Slayers ( Thats right MMA, i said Naniwa )

We'd be hard pressed to find two more talented individuals to send to Korea. Good luck to both of you!

Haha that's sick, playing on WMF. Small lineup but powerful, wonder If third invitee will play on WMF too

I think that Sase will probably join his countrymen in playing in the GTSL and that Sheth will be the third MLG player in code A.

I'd love to see IdrA in the GSL again, but it probably isn't happening. This: WeMadeFox instantly becomes a contender. Not at IM or SlayerS or oGs level but above some of the weaker GSTL teams, and definitely above FXO.
Looking forward to seeing a fifth member: Slush Idra Ret obviously not accepting. HayprO next after TZ but don't see him accepting cause he just left.
Fenix Sjow Sheth
Next up. Something tells me Sheth is taking the Code A spot since he's going over to Korea anyway. Fenix and Sjow I don't see accepting.
|
WMF: Moon, Lyn, Naniwa, Thorzain --> all former WC3 pros.
It's nice that Moon and Lyn will finally have some more practice partners. They really would benefit from it.
More importantly, Naniwa and Thorzain in korea!@!@!@??? Awesome. I think everyone knew these 2 would be going, but it is still exciting nonetheless.
I wonder why they aren't announcing the third player yet...
|
Just to feed GSL's marketing engine: I'll probably buy a season pass to watch Naniwa, Thorzain, Huk and Jinro all in the GSL. Can't wait <3
Curious to see how they work with WeMadeFOX too! Wonder if they'll do a lot of training together :O

Wasn't Moon knocked out of Code A? Could he possibly be the third player?
|

And yea, there is a player named Soccer on WMF as well. But he plays more WC3 than anything.

No it isn't allowed to go to Koreans. I think the Code S spot can go to Koreans in future tourneys though. Not sure.
Moon has gotten a lot better though, hope he can break into Code A, one of the hardest tournaments to get into because of its style (just ask players like DongRaeGu).
|
Couldn't pick two stronger players to send.
Therefore, if they both fail then it will be a punch in the gut to the foreign community. Code A is crazy though so it will be a great challenge.
The GSTL addition is AWESOME. Putting them on a team and letting them play on that adds so much to going to Korea. Just Code A is meh. This is much cooler.
|
WeMadeFOX? In the GSTL?! With THORZAIN AND NANIWA!?!!??!?!? WHAT THE FUUUUUCK

I love the idea of Thorzain and Naniwa doing this together. I feel like they have a growing, extremely-friendly rivalry going (frenemies?); I think they'd both like to face each other again, and I feel like they both feel like they have stuff to prove against the Koreans. And they both have a case for calling themselves the best foreigners for their respective races.
I think they're probably the best representatives of the foreigner scene that we can send right now.
|
Even if Sheth decides to come to Korea he will play for FXO and not WMF so lets drop him out of the arguments.

Yesssss go Thorzain :D :D :D

Damn this is huge. They are indeed capable players at GSL level. Soon they will be all in GSL code S.

Where will they live? With wemade or in the foreigner house (which I understand fxo is using).

But he could be the third player getting an invite to Code A, no? Results would suggest that is the case.
If that happens though, not sure if 4 players is enough for GSTL. WMF might need to add one other player.
Such a sick lineup though, best foreign Toss/Terran (arguably, some would say Happy or Select), ex-Code S Terran (Lyn), rising SC2 Zerg Star (Moon). I'm honestly super excited, definitely WMF will be my favourite team in the GSTL.

GL to them both, and GL to MMA this weekend as well!
Not sure they're really missing anything, both are still going to Dreamhack and Homestory Cup. NASL LAN finals are around and with $50k they don't want to miss that (that's assuming Thorzain even qualifies by winning the Open, not an easy feat with some amazing players in there). Otherwise, not sure they're missing much: MLG is fun but the prize pool is tiny. Rest they can probably play online...

Awesome news, can't wait for GSL and GSTL.

lol I don't think it makes a lot of sense though, WMF has Moon and Lyn, two stalwarts in the foreign scene who could probably get along with foreigners. SlayerS is great but I don't think it would be the right fit for Naniwa, I could see him getting angry about being left out of games.
Being a part of WMF means that Naniwa and Thorzain will probably play every if not almost every match for the team, which is great for their practice. And a cool WC3 connection lol.
|
Awesome! Can't wait to see them competing with koreans, will be interesting to see how good they do.

WeMadeFox eh? Add Naniwa and Thorzain to Lyn and Moon and they actually have a pretty decent 4 player line up.
I also wonder who the last player is that accepted.

Fox technically doesn't have any SC2 players or a SC2 team. Moon and Lyn are listed as WC3 players, they play SC2 now though. So two of them + Thorzain/Naniwa = 4.

I think 3rd player from MLG is Sheth, if you look at MLG standings Sheth is next unless Fenix or SjoW accept. And since Sheth is playing for FXO...
I think 5 is enough though. Excited to see who the Ace is for the team. All four of them are baller... seriously any of them would be the Ace and you couldn't complain.

I wanna see some sick ceremonies from the foreigners in the GSTL, especially if one of them all kills.

I believe their last War3 team had a 4th player also who might have been Lucifer (WC3)'s brother. I'm not sure if he plays SC2 though.

wonder if sase's going to be playing on FOX too...

There is Soccer who tried to play in GSL open, so it makes 7.
But team still needs one more i believe.

Exciting... I hope Naniwa makes a strong showing in Korea

Either Fenix or Slush would be the third, if going by MLG finish spot.

this is pretty cool. i'm just praying that thorzain, naniwa and jinro don't meet early in code a.

glad to see they're taking the risk :D
i now respect these guys 100x more.

Great news! I don't think you could have picked two better foreigners. Hopefully they will take full advantage of the practice environment over there and improve their skills even more.
|
They did say that Slush wasn't joining Complexity.. Slush to FXO + Code A??
|
Good luck naniwa and thorzain
|
if they want to compete well in a Bo7 format, they will need a full roster of 7 players. Seriously hoping that WMF has some recruits waiting in line, otherwise they will run out of players to field. Also, they need variety: naniwa, tzain, moon, every match will mean they will get dissected and sniped. Still, I'm hoping they can make playoffs.
|
Holy crap man. Exciting. Can't wait to see how they will do. Hopefully they don't drop out early

Super excited. I'm actually going to start watching the GSL just to see Naniwa and Thorzain. Awesome!

People are simply making the perfectly reasonable speculation that the reason the third player invited hasn't been mentioned is that it's Sheth and hence he can't play with WMF.

Good job listening to what I wrote. I noted Sheth can get the invite from MLG due to placing, that doesn't mean he's playing for WMF. Read what I wrote,
"Forgot SaSe, that's 5."
Count:
Moon Lyn SaSe Thorzain Naniwa
Note I didn't include Sheth. Sheth can get a Code A spot from MLG Columbus while he's playing GSTL.
Now do you understand? Does it get through your head?
GET THAT STUPID SHIT OUT OF YOUR HEAD! :p

Good luck to the both of them cant wait to see these guys do great

Lol, isn't it pretty much final that Sase will be the 3rd player? It was said that he would be in Code A no? For winning some tournament, most likely he'll be the 3rd player in the gstl, which is kinda disappointing since he's not a great player like Thorzain and nani

Slush was given an invite, because he was one of the original Top 3 non-Koreans (Idra Naniwa Slush). He said on his stream that he's not taking it. Thorzain (#9 MLG) managed to get the seed because Slush(#5), Ret (#7), and Idra (#4) declined their invites.
The following is the list of foreigners based on their placings after Thorzain: Haypro (#10) - just returned from Korea, unlikely to take invite Fenix (#11) - not sure Sjow (#13) - said a long time ago that he was interested in going to Korea. Not sure if he still is Sheth (#14) - Sheth will be unable to make Code A qualifications. However, unless I'm wrong, he should be able to make Code A if he is given a direct seed. Machine (#15) - hasn't shown interest.. and his association with Idra makes it unlikely. Major (#16) - at the tail end of BW, he was hoping to come to Korea to train with eSTRO. Not sure if he still is KawaiiRice (#17) - has a KR ladder account, but has not made any intentions of going to Korea public CrunCher (#18) - not sure Tyler (#19) - said on SotG that he won't go. Select (#20) - has been to Korea to qualify for GSL before. Is Korean. However only can stay 6 months due to visa obligations Kiwikaki (#21) - tried to qualify for GSL 3, not sure if he still is. Incontrol (#22) - has said he's not interested.
And with that I'll end this list... have a look at it and speculate guys.

GSTL starts in the next two weeks, but F.United, the team that Thorzain/Naniwa are on, don't play until six weeks into the competition. Probably for the both of them and the other person joining them to get to Korea, get friendly with their new teammates at WeMade and prepare.

Just to mention, the new GSTL is a 10 week league, and WeMadeFox is scheduled to play in the latter half of its duration; all their games are in weeks 5-10. So they are participating in the same team league, but are going to play in the august gsl rather than the July one.

On the other hand FXO is playing weeks 1 - 5 so that there's always 3 games a week, makes sense so FXO can pack up and head off after 5 weeks, only issue is if they make the playoffs or something but from the looks of it I guess no one (FXO included) sees that happening, better chance of WMF making it.

Agreed, I don't think it would be the best idea to put a foreigner as an ace on a korean team right now, just due to many of the implications that could happen/pressure(any match is a pressure though). Only situation where I could see that idealy happening is with ogs, but neither of them are qualified ace players for ogs.

With the GSTL set to take off, and teams like WeMade going out of their way to recruit enough talent to compete, is anyone else wondering what ForGG is up to? That's a tremendous amount of RTS skill just floating around out there. A retired player so recently competitive at the A team level in BW is a pretty big loose end so I'm really surprised there's been no news. In fact no news makes me think he's truly gone since I'm sure some team would have made a run at him by now.
|
As much as I love WeMade it's really disappointing to see Nani and Thorzain playing for them instead of being picked up by an established team. I think they'd get a lot more out of Korea that way, but we'll see what happens. If WeMade is finally putting together a serious sc2 roster then I'll be happy
|
Let's go Naniwa and Thorzain! Mess those nerds up!

YES MY DREAMS HAVE LITERALLY COME TRUE
I LOVE YOU THORZAIN (and naniwa of course)
|
Now all that needs to happen is for Code A prize money to be like tripled so its actually worthwhile for them to stay there
|
It will be interesting to see how these two are able to compete. For some reason I have a feeling that Thorzain will be more successful.
|
My jaw dropped when I read this. This is such amazing news, I am SO STOKED
|
This is amazing for the foreign scene. We are seeing probably the two best foreign players currently in the game, going to the GSL. When Jinro, Huk, Haypro, and the rest of them went, they were not top competitors before they got there, so when they didn't have a lot of immediate success it was quite accepted and not necessarily a huge detrement to the western e-sports scene. When Jinro did have success in the beginning, it was a huge surge of pride for the western e-sports scene and he wasn't the "best" foreigner when he left. But with these two I think we will truely see how western e-sports players can measure up to the Korean scene. With both of these players playing very safe/standard but with great mechanics, and great understanding, this could be AMAZING. Especially for Thorzain who we have seen, is an absolute MONSTER when he is given time to prepare for any specific match-up.
This is hugely exciting.
Also, so many pro's claim "there is more and easier money to be made in western e-sports for western players" yet when we look at the site for the prize pool earning, the top 20 are all korean players from their results in Code S, so obviously it still rings true that IF! you can compete and be semi-successful Korea is still where you want to be.
If you believe you simply cannot compete, than Korea is not for you though, I completely agree. So this will be hugely exciting to see these two western Titans competing with the best in the world.
|
both round of 8 and above if they play to their potential!
|

Super excited to see this, though I had hoped they would be let into a more established team. moon+lyn and the three foreigners doesn't really compare to being let into an already established practice environment as in the other pro houses.

I have no doubt that Naniwa will do a lot of damage in the GSTL, but I'm not so sure about Thorzain. I seem to think that his strengths come in prepared matches. Either way, it's good that foreigners are representing up in the GSTL. So what if they get destroyed 0-4 every time? They still have the balls to stick a team inside the toughest team league out there.
|
|
Yeah! Foreigner represent!

Actually kind of interesting to me that they both chose to take it instead of trying for Code S at Anaheim, since that's such a bigger deal. Guess they gave the players to WeMade due to lack of players.

FOX.Lyn and FOX.Moon, both top tier WC3 players. Last I heard, they were part time WC3/SC2
Both Lyn and Moon showed up in Code A for a bit, then got eliminated (both). Moon showed up at MLG Columbus where he did relatively well for a Korean and surprisingly well for TL-expectations of him (can't remember if he placed ahead of ST.July, I think he did).
Those are the only two players, along with (someone mentioned earlier) some guy named SocCer (sp?)
Him, Lyn, and Moon + Naniwa + Thorzain rounds out the 5.

GL to them both, and GL to MMA this weekend as well!
GSL has been and is more profitable for players who have proven to be very very good _consistently_. It is a monthly tournament after all, and those who have what it takes to remain in the top all the time have that valuable Code S prize money secured.
Both Naniwa and Thorzain are powerhouses with great ambition and great talent and I have no doubt they will adapt and do very well in Code A<3.

It'll be interesting though, because it seems that GSL are pushing the MLG seeds back one season (these seeds were meant for the July GSL), which makes me wonder if the Anaheim winner is seeded into GSL August or the following GSL.

As you can see there's a third player, who most people probably never even realized: SocceR.
He was last seen in SC2 trying to qualify for the GSL May, where he lost in the 2nd last round to Moon (how ironic that they had only 2 players qualifying and they met each other in a nearly 200 player qualification bracket).

Two great choices to represent foreigners in Korea. Best of luck to both of them. I really have a reason to watch code A again. I haven't really watched it since Tasteosis stopped casting it.

Cool, Thorzains a really nice guy, hope him the best. Good luck hanging with WMF ~

what, Lyn made Code S.
Despite Moon's GSL woes, I'd say he can still particpate decently in a GSTL format.
Soccer beat Yonghwa in a small tourny, before losing to Cezanne, if that means anything to you guys.

im guessing idra didnt accept?

I am so so so so so so so so so excited about this.
GSTL will be so great to watch with two foreigners teams involved.
Hopefully they produce a good showing. I really feel Naniwa and Thorzain can compete with the best.
|
i've been waiting for naniwa to move for a long time. Can't wait for him to be the first foreignerto win a gsl
|
The third "secret" player should be MYM.SaSe.
He won a Swedish tournament where the winner would get an all-expenses-payed trip to Korea, payed for by Logitech, to participate in the GSL.
|
this is such good news. I wish best of luck to both players and hope both do really well.
|
Nooooooooo, why would they take that offer? They have so much more to win in the foreign countries
Well, since they already took the offer, I am REALLY hoping they can make it through code A, which is no easy feat. If they won't make it out of code A, they just wasted months for this %!$§.
|
For you it might be a waste, Shirohige.
To them it is a dream come true.

|
Do you think WEmade's SC2 team could "borrow" some of it's SCBW players? I'm sure a few players from the broodwar team have dabbled in SC2 and from what we've seen even B teamers can be at the top of the heap when it comes to SC2. Maybe they have some B teamers that could play for their SC2 team. That would be certainly interesting to see.
On another note I'm imagining the winner of the trip to Korea GSL tourney in Sweden will play for them, as well as of course the third member of the GSL invites. That would bring the roster to Moon, Lynn, Soccer, Naniwa, Thorzain, 3rd MLG ticket, and Sweden ticket. Seven players, and not a bad roster either.

No. There are three Code-A seeds from MLG Columbus, which is what the announcement is referring to, seeing as how it is news from MLG. Sase winning the Rakaka Road-to-Korea tournament thing is separate.

WeMade also has another x warcraft three pro named SocceR who plays protoss, they are a very small team, but 5 is enough to play, but they just don't have a lot of choice that way.

Awesome news. Both of these guys really deserve it and I'm sure they'll do well. I'll definitely be tuning in.

My bet is on sheth taking that 3rd slot, he is already going to korea with FXO so given no one ranked above him took it then it's his.

Its good now that there not just there for code A, they get to go in the team league aswell. Good luck boys! kick some ass

Thank you MLG and GSL for providing this awesome news and opportunity to three worthy players. Joining wemade is a great move and I hope they can all learn off each others skills. They now have all 3 races to practice countless hours. Wemade also has the most $$$ to provide them with a good treatment. I cannot wait!!!
Everyone needs to give these players props for not "staying back" for the easier money like other players. I respect Naniwa so much ever since he said publicly that he just wants to test himself and prove that he is amongst the best. I believe Thorzain said something to that affect as well.

How cheap are you. Its 10 bucks for a pass with minimal ads.
You get access to the best games in the world in a league filled with players of MMA, MCs, Julys, and LosirA's talents and skills.
I honestly don't watch a lot of NA/Euro stuff because I am spoiled by Korean play.

Holy crap, next seaon Code A going to be godly

I hope they will be able to practice against Korean progamers often rather than among themselves or Western gamers living in Korea, if not this trip wouldn't as productive. The Code A prize pool is really mediocre for such a prolonged and intense competition.
|
Awesome news indeed! Really hope they do well and curious to see who the third one is going to be.
|
This is awesome, way more psyched for GSL/GSTL between this news and the FXO guys heading over. Hopefully perhaps maybe we could see oGs take advantage of the new team league rules and run Huk and/or Jinro in their lineup? In any case, gogo Naniwa <3
|
I'm a little sad that they joined WeMade FoX as it's... kind of a bad team.. where will they be practicing? In the wemade house, in the gom house or in another progaming house? Would be cool to see them with IM or so.

Them beeing in this team is actualy a good thing in my eyes, because this way we get to see them playing for GSTL allways ^^
|
As a spectator, I'm super stoked. I can't wait to see these guys test their mettle against the best Korea has to offer in Code A and the GSTL.
If I were to remove myself from the fan position however, I can't help but wonder if moving to Korea is the best decision financially for these two players.
Regardless, I'm sure they have both given plenty of thought to the matter and know better than I do. Good luck to both of them! Show everyone that foreigners know how to throw down!
Also, WeMadeFox <3 Gogogo Baby!

I'm soooooooooooo HAPPY!
Thorzain and Naniwa are some of my favorite players. They are both beasts and I'm really looking forward how they are both doing in Korea.
Best of luck guys! <3

Bah This news make me sad.

Great news~ Now imagine how cool it would be if their Zerg addition was DIMAGA!!!
|
I wish IdrA would go back to Korea and compete and practice hard to be the best once again. Just imagine it, the "big three" foreigners of each race. Thorzain, Naniwa, and IdrA. If all three were to live in the GOM house amazing things could be achieved.
That being said, sadly this is probably just a dream.
|
nice, wemadefox has a sc2 team now?
|
Pretty nice. Already pretty stoked to see the GSL July, with the new GSTL on Thursdays + Fridays.
|
I have no doubt that both of them can make the Top 8 of Code A, I think the real challenge will be learning the Korean meta-game and learning how to adapt to their style of play.
Both of them can do it of course, but is it enough time? We'll see.
Still, I can't wait! So unbelievably excited for this.

It will be great to see Naniwa and Thorzain in Code A, hopefully they'll be able to at least stay in Code A, if not qualify for Code S.

So as far as i know WeMadeFox has 3 players:Moon,Lyn and Soccer. So with Naniwa and Throzaine its 5.Isn't this number kinda low for a team in the GSTL? Does anyone know how many players now are you required to register in order to compete in the GSTL?

Pretty much the best players the western world has to offer. If they can't make it in the GSL, we are doomed! But Naniwa is way better than HuK and ThorZain is no comparison to Jinro at his current state. So they should at least make it to the Up&Down Matches in their first try.
|
Naniwa is going to be the first Non-Korean to win a GSL and than win Code S.

I personally don't think that this new team will do too well in the Team league. Sure Naniwa, Thorzain and Lyn are great players. Even Moon is quite decent, but compared to other teams having only this 3 great players might not be enough.

Right now maybe but I bet if Naniwa stays as long as Huk has in Korea, he'll show better results. Not sure how commited Naniwa is to stay there though. I guess that depends if he gets knocked out of Code A or not in his first try.
|
Looking at the GSTL schedule, I think we can really be grateful to GOM for making this happen, and pushing all the matches of FOX to the end of the season!
Naniwa and Thorzain playing code A and GSTL will be the most awesome thing to watch this summer!
|
I do believe were gonna see some white boys whooping ass in Korea!
I think These are both the best Protoss and Terran outside Korea, very good representatives. Naniwa is just rock solid, and give Thorzain a week to prepare and he may very well be the best Terran in the world, YES, in the world.
Both will make code 'S' first try, and I would not be surprised to see both go deep in code 'S', round 8 or better.

waaaaaaaatsUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP SWEDEN!!!

Too bad Morrow didn´t place higher at MLG, he would be a perfect 3rd guy. 2 Swedes is already a bit much though. The more nationalities in Korea the better but most americans don´t seem to want to go unfortunately. I´m happy for Thorzain and Naniwa, they know it´s going to be tough to do well but they go because they want the challenge and it´s a great opportunity to visit the Mecca of Esports.

WOW epic news, gogogo ppl !

Very exciting news, nice to see more white dudes in Korea, even if only, for one month

Wow, exciting. Hope to see some great play and some good interactions.

For a better pay check and the fact that he has already been a part of WeMadeFox in BW .

That's so awesome, omg I can't wait now, I hope they both do great!
Also really looking forward to seeing them in the GSTL ^_^
|
Exciting news, too bad they still didn't find the third guy (I guess?).
|
Nice to hear about that, hope to see some go to Code S!
about the last seed, foreigners in the top 10: IdrA (said he wouldn't be taking it) Slush (apparently on his stream he said he wouldn't be taking it.) Naniwa (has already taken it) Ret (just got back out of Korea, don't expect him to take it) ThorZaIN (has already taken it) Haypro (also just got back out of Korea, so I don't expect him to take it)
So it will be probably be someone from the top 14: Fenix Sjow Sheth (is in Korea for the team league, will most likely want the spot if he can get it)
|
Nice! They're so gonna win! (at least I hope so!)

NaDa wasn't allowed to play for WMF due to KeSPA v. Blizzard, it was just Moon and Lyn. Now that the KvB lawsuit is settled I would assume that WMF will be able to fully sponsor a SC2 team, and NaDa was the face of their BW team.

Wow will be super awesome seeing ThorZain and Naniwa in the GSTL. ! :D
And in Code A ofc
|
Both very solid players. I'm sure they will have good results.

This is so awsome. I love Nani and Thor and I really like WeMadeFox!! Cant get any better.

Awesome news ! But why are they playing for WeMadeFox? o_O

Super awesome news, hope they do well. TSL finalists represent!

at least we're guaranteed to see them play in every match, if they played for any other team they might not get in the lineup

On June 14 2011 18:36 Reapher wrote: Awesome news ! But why are they playing for WeMadeFox? o_O Because they lack SC2 players for a full team perhaps?
Anyway I'm really happy to see that some foreigners are going. Was getting so tired of the moneygrubbing americans sitting on every podcast saying how it's not worth going because you can make more money elsewhere. The truth is that if you want to be considered good you have to play with the best and you won't ever do that unless you go to korea.
GL Naniwa and Thorzain!
|
This is amazing. Best of luck to both Thorzain and NaNiwa in the GSL.
|
Lyn, Moon, Naniwa and Thorzain ex-Warcraft pros unite!

Thats such amazing news! I really wish them both all the best but I think they will do well anyways!

Naniwa and Thorzain in Korea should be awesome. I think i recall MC mentioning the he would like to have them playing there aswell meaning those foreigners would have what it takes to do well in Korea.
Best of luck for Naniwa and Thorzain and now im waiting for the 3rd player to be annoued

SaSe will go to korea too, if im not mistaken

Oh yeah I also heard someone mentioning on a European stream that SaSe wanted to go to Korea so we'll see I suppose

Those 2 are the best foreigners IMO. Aren't they both swedish? I see the beginnings of a country to country rivalry as opposed to korea vs world one as the scene continues to thrive in sweden.
|
Woot Naniwa!! Have a fun and safe flight. Enjoy the experience with your countrymen, I think it's amazing you are able to go with someone who speaks your native language, that must really help a lot. Work hard and do well, I'm rooting for you. Show MC who's the real boss!
|
This is soooo fucking awesome! Hopefully this means that WeMadeFox will get more active in SC2 as well.
|
Looking forward to more foreigners in the GSL. I hope that they will be successful!

He won a seed through the Road to Korea tournament that Rakaka (?) hosted, so I imagine he'll be going relatively soon.
|
Finally. I can't believe people were saying "hurr durr no foreigns will goto Korea". Just because IdrA and pals who all have big commitment here said they wouldn't go doesn't me awesome players like Nani and Thorzain wouldn't jump at the opportunity!

you got any facts to supprt this? Because it seems highly unlikely for me that a team like WMF would care about kespa if they see a good oppertunity to expand their team.

correct, he won "Road to Korea" over Naniwa, so it's 2 protoss and a Terran

Will we see thorzain and naniwa at the next MLG or will there be scheduling conflicts? Because they are likely to reach the code A finals and spend that 1500$ like there were no tomorrow!

My advice is to not read TL news comments until you watched late matches, if you don't want to get spoiled...
People are trying not to spoil other readers, but it's hard to think of every single tournament results and be like: "Has it been enough time so I can say out loud the winner of the semi finals?"...
It's kinda like reading the newspaper the day after the superbowl and not wanting the get spoiled... Just don't read the damned newspaper!
Anyway, grats to Naniwa and Thorzain! I wish you to have a great trip in Korea, and good luck in the tournaments!

Naniwa, Thorzain, Sase, HuK, Jinro and Slush(?). Korea better watch out
|
This is mostly for experience... I mean playing 1 month tournament for $1500. Priceless.
It is just my opinion, but I think that prize range in CODE S is just ridiculous... 40$k difference between 1st and 2nd?
It should be: Code A: 1st: $10.000 2nd: $5.000 3rd: $2.500
Code S: 1st: $40.000 2nd: $20.000 3rd: $10.000
Simple.
|
Although there have been doubts that this is profitable for European players with all the tournaments (live and online) going on, i still love this step.
Hope it works out for them, a) with success in the GSL, b) that their join with WemadeFOX will be good and c) that they might get even better while playing fulltime in Korea.
<3
|
So Lyn, Moon, Naniwa, ThorZaiN and SocceR? Haha so damn nice ^^
|
This is awesome! Wicked! I hope they will playing good as they do here in Europe.
|
The experience and improvements they'll get is well worth it. I don't see why anyone who aspire to become the best of the best wouldnt take this shot if they have not already done it. Sure I can understand the economical choice to win EU/NA tournaments, but they're not free money or anything so why not just be away for a month~ and come back even stronger and tear shit up?
Anyway, I'm VERY happy to see you guys going and I'll follow closely. GL!

Statistically speaking, going to Korea is a necessary step if you want to become one of the best. It's simply not possible with the environment and practice you get in the west. I'm sure both Thor and Nani has what it takes to make full use of their time spent there and, perhaps, go all the way. Don't forget SaSe either. He's got just as much potential.
Anyway, this is great news!

good news. During the last weeks we heard way too many "progamers" talk about how it is not "worth" to go to korea. Glad to see that at least some think different. Nani and Thorre, I hope you enjoy your trip to Korea and learn something for your game and for life. Play with the best, learn from the best, aim for the best! GL~~

Awesome! 2 players with great work ethic. I'm super interested to see how much they can improve in a Korean Style Training environment. (I'm expecting/hoping they will be training in/with the WeMadeFox house/crew and not exclusively with the GOM foreigner house residents only).

Really good news....cant help but wonder who's going to be the third player and if he also is going to play for WMF (probably if its not sheth) but so far FOX has a good line up and I didnt even know they were going to play in the GSTL tho its somewhat expected since having FXO there would mean that there were uneven numbers in teams.
Glad to see this deal from MLG and GSL doing good and Im now unsure about who to root for...WMF or SlayerS? Hum hope they end up in different groups or something so I can cheer for both (yeah I havent read the format and schedule yet, read this one first )
GL to both in both codeA and TL

Iam so looking forward to this! it would be great if Thorzain or Nani would actually win CodeA!

it's not fair to put them in code A, I hope they fight they way to codeS

This is sad news for foreign Starcraft. No more Naniwa or Thorzain replays T_T

can't wait for GSL august now!!! i thought the league exchange program sounded like a good idea, but now actually hearing that (those two particular) players are going to be in code A... SICK!

Good luck to Thorzain and naniwa. I hope they do well. Although I think they will, they're both crazy talented.

Well i hope they will be doing great ! Grats to both.
I wonder though when will they go there ? i know they will paticipate in august, but if they arive 3 days before i would be somewhat worried, It would be good to see them like team liquid and oGs, praticing among koreans learn from them and prepare together well in advance both for the team and Code A matchups, hell even do korean laddering and see korean style play on a daily basis.

Wooohooo, awesome. If it's all paid for I would go without a doubt. I would put my life on hold for a month or two for a chance to live the pro life with WeMadeFox... Practice with Moon, sounds like a good time to me.

GL guys have fun in korea and rip up the GSL code A matches and GSTL :D
|
This is going to be awesome. I'm glad to see that Naniwa and Thorzain aren't passing up this opportunity, since there were doubts that any foreigners would be willing to go to Korea just for code A.
Naniwa gogo! Thorzain Hwaiting!
|
ThorZain is gonna own it up in GSL! Awesome.
|
Damn having 2 foreigners going to code A IS GOING TO HURT ESPORT!!!!1!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!
|
I'm so excited to see some foreigners competing in GSL...but I don't want to be too optimistic...the past Code A winners are big names like Losira and Bomber...it's not easy to do well in code A at all
|
Nice! Gogogogo Naniwa ! GLHF.
For ESPO-RTS !!

Awesome news. How can people doubt the worth of their decision. "He trained in korea with we made fox" is a pretty good stat to have. I hope we really see a foreign community in the GSL/GSTL this season. foreign on foreign action in the GSTL ;p
|
|
i think that thorzain will have a lot more success than naniwa simply due to the fact that his preparation for matches is insane. Both should make it to up/down on their first try though. I also believe that if they don't they will stay in Korea simply because both of them have hunger to be the best(naniwa posting on his stream that he was MLG Dallas winner then having TSL3 loser, showing that anything but 1st is unacceptable) and Korea is the best place to become the best.

Either way, best of luck to both players : D He was 9th. The 5th foreigner.

Since IdrA and Ret probably said no, first glance would be Slush to Code A (dunno whats going on with him leaving root) then Fenix, Sjow, Sheth, Machine, Major, KawaiiRice, etc.
I'd actually like Sheth to take the spot, since he's going to korea for the GSTL as well.

so glad its nani and thorzain.. 2 players currently who actually want to strive to best the koreans. grats

What does "full" sound to you?

I guess it'll be a fun, yet short-lasting spell for them. Korea just doesn't seem to be worth it in SC2, unless you're the best in the world.
|
i think if thorzain can get used to korea fast he will do fine as he showed in the tsl3 that he is really good at preparing for a specific matchup. if he stays focused he should do fine~ gonna cheer for him
naniwa...not so sure if he is a player who is better with prep time..i always think of him as the guy who can play solid in a tourney like mlg with no real preparation at hand.
anyone knows who the 3rd player might be?
|
|
Wow! Good job Nani and Thorzain, what an honor to be playing on the same team with legendary progamers :D You do good now, show them some swedish steel.
|
|
Sweden fighting! gogo code A TSL3 finals repeat, but this time nani wins D:!
|
Ha ha "Top finishers", Obviously Naniwa deserves this (as does Thorzain, he is a sick, nerd baller) but I think this is actually an indication of how Code A only appeals to those already committed (as both of these players have said they were) to going to Korea for a significant amount of time to train.
[Edit] Let me just also add that I am super excited for both of these players to get the chance to go to Korea and up their skill levels, I think both of them would really benefit from making this move, and there is no one I want to succeed more than these guys as their TSL performances were both absolutely stellar. I want Thorzain to go show the Koreans that Sweden and foreigners can dominate even their best players.

These two always seem to meet each other.. everywhere!

happy for both, but the lack of training partners i think will be an issue. WMF has like no known players aside from moon to be honest and that is only cause he's played in some foreign tournaments. if naniwa and thorzain had joined a better korean team, i think it would be more exciting to see how much better they could get.

"Hell, it's about damn time"
These guys definitely deserves to play in Korea, what ballers they are!

It wouldn't be too surprising if the third player is SaSe, seeing how he won "the road to korea" and was promised a trip to korea to stay in the GSL house in either June/July or August.

In previous GSTLs I don't believe they were actually allowed to play for oGs, but with this new (as far as I am aware) mercenary rule they can play for any Korean team that'll take them but only want to play for oGs. Jinro and HuK are definitely good enough to play for oGs, who haven't exactly got the deepest roster in terms of skill...

from comments on this announcement on another sc2 site, it is said that there will be a third player coming too, yet to be announced ( some saying it was sase ) and that they will not participate in the weMadeFox team but that wemadefox (or the company, what's its name) will create a temporary team called F.United, only for/during the GSTL

He also gave a pretty god damn good excuse for not doing all that well at columbus (he still kicked ass though).. He couldn't leave the place, as the scheduling was completely random and could be off with as much as an hour. He had to stick around and eat whatever came close.. That's not a good tournament environment if you're there for 3 days. It was worse as he was in the open bracket. I think Naniwa said he had the same problem last MLG and he had to get someone fetch him burgers and whatnot cuz he couldn't go away. I think they both will do amazingly well at GSL as they've both probably improved even more since TSL. I'm fucking pumped!

Also nice to see some wc3 players together! SaSe is joining FOX as well i heard, so with SaSe Moon Lyn SocceR ThorZaIN and NaNiwa, they are ALL ex wc3 players! And yes i know pretty much every other team is 100% BW, but this is exciting for me coming from wc3 : D

Its so awesome for all the parties involved. WMF get 2 great players that will definitely strengthen their squad and allow them to compete in the GSTL, and Naniwa and Thorzain get some good practice and the chance to shine on a team, as opposed to being benched most games on an already star studded team.
Any word on where they'll be living? I'd assume in the GOMtv foreigner house, but thats pretty full with the FXO guys and Torch, or the WeMade house, where I presume Fox, Lyn and Soccer live.
Looking down the list of MLG finishers I'd guess Slush is the 3rd player. He was the 2nd highest placing foreigner and didn't join Complexity in the merge with Root, which would be explained if he new he was going to Korea. The only other players in the top 16 who haven't already been to Korea, haven't already got some form of training house outside of Korea or aren't already in Korea are Major and possibly Fenix, depending on whats happening to the Root house. (I'd guess its staying as it was before the merge)

No offense to huk but I think if he could make code S both of these guys will be able to do it too.
And WMF.....first I was like wtf why them do they even have enough players....oh wait. Since they won't have enough playErs, our foreign heroes will have a much higher chance or being fielded!

I think they will always get to play (atleast 100% if the end up losing the series as a team). Only Lynn andMMoon are from wemadefox right? Liquipedia page says they also have SocceR but idk if that is accurate. Never heard of him but he can still get to play, he did try to qualify for the latest GSL hmm.. so then atleast 1 of our guys, who will probably get picked over SocceR anyway It's Bo7 format in the round robin stage, and then afterwards top 3 of each group advances. In which Bo9 gets played. They would have just the right amount with 5 players. But again what up with Soccer. And they will have to beat 3 of the following teams: slayers, prime, tsl, ogs, mvp. Gonna be some awesome games.
|

That's why it's awesome, as much as I want them to be in winning teams like IM, but they already have enough new players waiting in line to make their debut in the GSTL that the chance of foreigners making an appearance will be slight to none. While WMF still has decent players, enough room for new ones, and all of these guys play WC3 XD.

A lot easier said than done.
Need to win ro32 and 16... and then either
1) Win Code A (highly unlikely, seeing as some amazing players like MMA are still down there
2) Go to up-and-down pool play and beat some stars there (4th place in pool Code S, other Code A's).
Will be hard. Not going to rule it out. My guess is for first season Naniwa makes it to Code S, Thorzain/SaSe is gonna get stuck in Code A, Sheth (assuming he gets the third MLG spot because technically the spot should fall to him, and yes I know he plays for FXO) going to drop out of Code A unfortunately

Can't tell if you're trolling, Code S is much better than Code A. MMA is amazing but he did have two Bo3 chances to get to Code S and lost 2-0 to HuK. Jinro San also fell. Sure Naniwa and Thorzain are good but do they match up to Nada/MKP/MC? Not really.

lets just hope they don't have to play mma next code A before ro8.
some notable people who are/could be in code A next season mma ryung san DRG stc min line
naniwa has a better chance to do well because none of those are vP specialist, while if thorzain runs into mma his chances look bleak.

Code A Tournament should not be underestimated. Even Code B is full of closet gosus like DRG, MMA, oGsHero, MVP_HwangSin ect. And that's without even mentioning the code S giants who have dropped down. Thorzain and Naniwa are both very good players but they will likely have extremely tough matches every step of the way.

Technically, if you count the RO8 of the super tourney, Code A and Code S divided it up pretty evenly. If MMA wins this GSL, which is highly likely, then dropping out in ups and downs is really not a big deal.
And by better I mean better for the spectators, foreigner vs Koreans are always the best show in my eyes.
By the way, it seems like I was wrong, nani and tzain are going to play in august, so by that time I'd imagin MMA Ryung and DRG will be in code S alrdy...

Oh shit, hot stuff! Gogo Thorzain and Naniwa! I bet they're like the best of friends now!

This is great news!! Cant wait to see how those two fair against the Korean competition! GL to both, and TY MLG for helping make this a reality!
|
Well this was always going to happen the question just was when? I think both Nani and Thorzain will prove to be excellent competitors in Code A and I am glad to see them going sooner rather than later as I feel the skill level of the majority of korean progamers is starting to increase rapidly with all of the team houses about and I think sadly they may greatly surpass all foreigners. I hope these guys and our pros from TL can prove me wrong! :D
Also, doesn't each team in GSTL need to have 8 players so... WeMade FOX will have... a lot of guys that we have never heard of?
Anyone know who the third player will be for Code A? Someone mentioned Slush, which I think is a bit of a surprise, although he did have an impressive run at MLG Columbus. LOL if it's IdrA.

you do know Idra was in the GSL for a long time right? He qualified for every single one and made ro32 minimum each time. Furthest he got was ro8 when he lost to jinro.
He won't go to korea anyway he already said no as he left when he was in code S why would he go back and go to code A?
I do wonder who the third one well be though, would be cool if it was slush :D
|
Good luck everyone! Hope it's a great season for you two.
|
A few points to be made: From the Scheduale it seems Nani and Thorz will only participate in teh GSTL during GSL august, wich willl put it after MLG Anaheim, So there whould be another 3 Code A invites to foreginers by then So F.United should easily have around 8 players to feild.
Does this also mean Nani and Thorzain will not participare in Code A during July, but rather in Agust? I wonder i that case wich Code A tournamante SaSe will participate in then....
Another thing to consider, with the new Scheduale for GSL (A/S/TL) Code A Ro32 and R16 is played during the first 5 days of the season. Meaning any foreginer participateing that won't make it to up and down matches (Ro8) only has to stay for the first week. This should make the Code A invite from MLG alot more attractive. At worst you get a Paied week in Korea, at best you get a month with a shot at the Code S up and Down matches.
|
Once... they were mortal enemies, at each other's throats fighting for champion of TSL3 in SC2 and other fine games.
Now... they must put aside their past differences and animosities ("Terran imba!") in order to become comrades and win the team league.
Soon... a wonderful friendship will blossom, one that will transcend ages. PvT imbalances will be set aside. Previous competitions will be forgotten. A dynamic duo will be created from Naniwa and Thorzain that perhaps will someday become the Swedish Tastosis, assuming they take up casting.
I'm salivating at this very thought. Quite excited about this news.

The 3rd player in WeMade FOX is ''Soccer'' but he isn't a GSL player according to liquipedia. Sheth said he wants to goto korea, but Sjow is a good bet aswell, seeing him and Naniwa is teammates

As said several times in the thread already, Soccer is probably the 5th member, if he still plays sc2.

I believe KiwiKaki is also going and I would imagine would play for F.United's GSTL team. It mentions it briefly in this thread here about him joining Reign. Although they could be speaking about way back in the past, but I don't remember him going before. Take it as you will.

Kiwikaki has also travelled to Korea for Code A qualifiers and can currently be seen playing in the NASL. That bit is a bit misleading. He went there to qualify for GSL3 not Code A. Made it to the final qualification round before losing. That btw, is that season that Incontrol and Select both tried to qualify (both also missed out by 1 match).
Incontrol only went there to try out and was actually expecting to leave early. I think Kiwikaki was sort of in a similar boat where he only went there to try out.
Select had long term plans to stay but decided to go back to the US because of how difficult qualifying for the GSL became after the open seasons.
Kiwikaki hasn't made any plans on going back and if he did it would have been big news.

Sheth would take Code A before Kiwikaki could get the code A invite. I believe the original post had to do with his previous experience when a bunch of foreigners tried out for GSL.

gl for them both, hopefully they do well!! thorzain + nani fighting

Code a is like terran only... and thorzain is really good in TvT so i think he can do very well. I dont know how good naniwas PvT is, but the Protoss player in GSL struggle recently versus terran.

Dignitas.Naniwa and MouzThorzain will be competing in GSL Code A August and will also participate in the August GSTL, as a part of Korean pro team WeMadeFox. This I was not expecting. I am aware that other teams are allowed to take other players from foreign teams as "mercenaries" in the GSTL but I was certainly not expecting the two TSL3 finalists to be playing for WeMadeFox.

Thorzain has been great in TvT ever since he started practice it for Kas in TSL. His weakest MU now is TvZ.

T-Zain's been pretty good at TvT recently. He beat Kas, and 4-0 Select at MLG. But to be honest, he's probably gonna have real trouble against the Korean Terrans, they're in a class of their own.

Naniwa's PvT record before the TSL final was a 92% win ratio, and I believe it's still his statistically best match-up. I don't think he'll have too much trouble.
EDIT: Confirmed, it is his best match-up statistically.

He said Thorzain, not Naniwa. :p

Three Swedes in Code A!? Let's hope they all advance to code S immediately.
Seriously though, as much as I think they're all awesome I don't expect them to tear Code A apart. Thorzain hasn't been dedicated to sc2 for THAT long, and sure he's awesome despite that, but he still needs more time before he has a chance to dominate in GSL. Naniwa seems to be unstoppable when he's on a roll, but he's not good enough to continually dominate every player in GSL like he did when he won MLG. So the question is if his confidence is good enough to play solid every game even when feeling mortal. If so, he's got a chance to go far in Code S, even win if he adjusts well to korean play and his own living situation over there. And of course Jinro who is already over there, I don't really know but I think maybe what MC said about Jinro needing to control his anger is what's been troubling him. Maybe if he sorts that out he will stop making silly mistakes and such.
Also, it will be really cool to see Naniwa and Thorzain participate in the GSTL with WeMadeFox. I hope they do well.

Did they ever announce the third Code A participant?
|
Is Thorzain going to participate in the GSTL? I saw a thread earlier saying he wasn't but it seems to be deleted so I'm thinking maybe it was false?
